Very nice Monkey King fight. The second fight was more meh, and a big decrescendo when they're back-to-back.
Story's all over the place. The whole "it's all good 'cauz we're buds!" blob of storylines ends up dulling the intensity. Been a fun series but like Maou Gakuen, I'm getting off the train even if there's a S2.

I didn't intend to watch this in the first place, but ended up doing so due to how wonderfully colored this season is.
Was my initial decision that this wasn't worth watching correct? Yeah, like usual.
They should have either stuck with the either the highschool or god, but not both. I mean, look, there is an anime that tries to do both science and magic, spent three x 2 cours, and ended up trash.
What makes you think 1-cour of half doing martial arts and half being some stupid god crap would work?
And look, the protagonist is apparently Son WuKong (wait, aren't you of Chinese origin?) and the final battle has nothing to do with martial arts, as the protagonist proceeds to use a pole and thundercloud to defeat the last boss who looks like a cheap rip-off from Tekken and Bleach.
So yeah, the story was boring.
I did get a laugh at the random martial artists + Korean War mention though, which is even funnier now that the last episode turned out to just be a superpower battle.
That said, the biggest problem with this anime was the character designs. What the f*** is with the red ears and noses? I googled Koreans and didn't find a bunch of people with red ears and noses, so it isn't a Korean characteristic thing.
And God of Tower definitely didn't do this, so it isn't some Korean manga thing.
...You know, I honestly don't care about the reason. It's ugly and distracting and has no value in the story.
What's worse is the protagonist on top of these characteristics has star eyes and a bra (or mask *eyeroll) on his head, making his existence double distracting.
The only thing you could compliment about this anime is that the animation wasn't half-bad.
What's funny here is that there is an anime produced by Bilibili this season.
It isn't really that interesting either, but it wasn't really that bad too. You could bare to look at the characters, at the least, if all else fails.
(They both have that not-really-funny random chibi stuff, amusingly)
Anime produced by Bilibili, whose name itself is from an anime character, is for otakus.
Anime produced by Crunchyroll is for the Western audience who only cares about visuals.
You know, these two really know their audiences!
4/10
I'd like to say there is no way there is a S2, but I think Crunchyroll might be up to wasting more of the anime industry's precious resources, so... *shrug*
