Not much I'd say. The devices aren't slaved to eachother by a master computer, so even if one rebels it's only one device. And since it doesn't have a mana supply of its own the most it could do would be to discharge one spell wrong before it's user drops it and renders it helpless.

Maybe, just maybe, those helmets are on prototype phase and when they production model is finally finished they will have cooler looking helmets/visors.

Well, good point, but it'd be kind of a silly, pointless thing to...

Oh, right, that's what most retcons are for.

Seems like such an obvious point to attack would have been caught in the early testing, really.

Maybe they store stuff in the helmet like a trunk. Heck any good Robot enthusiast should know that the head ought not store anything important. Being chased by a headless humanoid robot can be quite effective!

Well the heads have the main camera, right? That's kind of important.

Funny, since cameras have been shown in StrikerS to capture events from Season 1, they'd have to have balls of magic energy to see those events.

Putting aside that some of those events shown the TSAB was not even aware of it, and it'd show they were filming 'illegally' Nanoha's time at the lecture halls.... x_x

Even if it would be scary, I think it still would be an improvement.

Did TSAB actually agreed to used those things ?
If there is so much inspections for a couple of guns, those robots...

The initial design was a much more literal Raptor, but sadly, it was not to be.

which raptor?

The one that can somehow open doors or the stealth ones flying in the sky?

Except migcal sphere cameras will probably be ineffective in Eclipse saturated battlefields, en example is that Vita and Nanoha where forced to use standard headphone/microphone sets on their head instead of psychic communication or floating screen while assaulting the Esquad Huckebein.

By the way, does anyone know just how the Eclipse Effect is meant to work, anyway? Is it also mana and Linker core dependent?

Various theories has been around but the real info about it is really scarce. So far we have at least confirmed that Eclipse isn't magic meaning that it's powered by a different energy source.

Which means its' not mana dependant. Or its' mana, but of a different Variant. Think Strange Quarks vs Ordinary Up and down Quarks. Think exotic particles, anti-matter or strange-matter. Think Dark matter.
