Code18 (Next game in the Infinity series)
According to Japanese magazines, there is a new game in the Infinity series in development: Code18.
The character designer is Yutaka Akatsuku. It will be for the Xbox 360 and released next year. Thoughts? Personally, I have mixed feelings about this one. It doesn't look like either Nakazawa or Uchikoshi are involved with it, which makes me wonder if this game is actually going to be any good. Not to mention it's on the Xbox 360. Also, I don't really like some of the character designs. On the other hand, however, it's another game in the Infinity series, so that's something to celebrate about, I guess. Well, I can't really look at this too carelessly without more information, so I'll be observing it for now. |

360!!!!? :'(
I'm sure the character designs will grow on you as you play (look at Umineko... heh) Hmm... I shall think of this as just another adventure game coming out that has a chance of being good. Last edited by Elvin; 2010-12-26 at 11:49. |

The Infinity fan in me tells me to get hyped, but the realistic side of me is overshadowing said hype quite a bit. The character designs kill it, the apparent lack of Uchikoshi kill it more, and the 360 exclusivity kill it dead. Still, it's probably not enough to stop me from playing it... assuming it gets ported to the PC, and assuming it gets a fan translation.
As for now? I don't really care to find out more details.

In addition, I'm worried about what the scenario will be, since it doesn't feel like these people are going to be trapped. Maybe it'll be like Never7, where the characters weren't "trapped" in the same sense as they were in Ever17 and Remember11. |

How can you be so sure about a game which haven't been released yet?
Well, the lack of Nakazawa and Uchikoshi doesn't worry me much. The works of these two after E17, which is not bad but not as great as E17 either, makes me think maybe a change is a good thing. After all, they are not the only good writers Japan has

http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/333/333489/ 2011 Spring... That's like only 3 months away and they still have not released the staff list. Let's hope whoever's doing it doesn't spoil the name of the Infinity series. |

Hmm, it looks so much like a generic eroge - they could name it "My private princess" or something and it would fit as much.
Anyway, I say Root Double looks more promising for now, tho things may change after they release some more details. Who knows, maybe a fresh look from different developers is what Infinity series needs.

I think it is too early to say, again it might be good or it might be bad, but we don't know what it will be until we get it. And again like 'TheForsaken' said, Japanese game industry has a lot of good writers, so I am not that worried and believe that it will be at least a 'B' range game.
But on the release date thing, I think it is going to be delayed especially with the recent earthquakes and tsunami. Anyway, I will buy it as soon as it gets out to test it. Thank goodness, I bought a Xbox 360. I will also look forward to the remake of Ever17. |

Well, I doubted it was actually going to make it's whole "Spring 2011" deadline in the first place. Oh well, gives them more time to polish the game, right?
At least this game probably won't be as badly affected by the earthquake as Root Double is. Poor Nakazawa really picked a bad time to write a game about a nuclear meltdown, huh? At least it hasn't been cancelled, only un-publicized, though with the way things are now, I wonder when the game will actually be able to be shown again. |

Same here. My reaction to this news was mostly: "Huh, this game is still alive?"
Well, I'll probably get the PSP version, unless the Xbox 360 version has some extras or bonuses, or something like that. It'd be interesting if each version had something the other didn't, but that might be too complicated. Not sure if I want the Infinity series turning into Pokemon, after all. |
