I'm interested in starting a light novel series
But can I? Has it been done before? I have a bit of experience in writing and I should be able to find an artist without too much trouble, but are there any publishers willing to publish an original English language light novel - or has anyone ever attempted it? I know projects like this have been somewhat successful with manga (Megatokyo), but I haven't heard anything about light novels originating from the Western world. Any tips, suggestions, or even info would be appreciated; knowledge is the first step to victory, or something like that xP

I'm currently trying to find more information on that exact same topic. I've looked into TokyoPop because of their newer fiction branch and wide acceptance of American manga artists, but from what I've heard they have a very restricting contract.
I, myself, have been trying to look for a company willing to publish anime/manga-influenced fiction, because I'm currently in the process of writing a post-apocalyptic story set in Japan. I love my story, but I'm afraid that the simple fact that my characters are Japanese with weird hair and eye colors will prevent it from ever being published. |
