I've always wondered. Why don't they try to find Hakaze? Yes, I know she is on some deserted island in the Pacific, but there must be some way they can locate her through magic. Like for example, maybe she can detect if her talisman is closer or not. They can keep moving in the direction that gets closer to her on a ship until they find her.

the fight scenes look good, the idea of attacking with defensive magic is cool as well, and that hole on the mountain...
but predicting the timing of a missile launched by an assault helicopter? that is nearly impossible for a high school student... i take it as they are lucky

Good people like it. I heard few people who don't like it. They think expanding content of battle scene is the waste of time.
I can see the trend of the story development, I think. Everyone(including the dead) has creepy motivation. Since the story is from a manga artist who is always carried away with teenage detective angst, it's can't be helped. The artwork is very beautiful. So, I'll continue to watch the show.

Mahiro and Hakaze are sort of fated friends. According to Samon, they may have been fated to meet like this.
Mahiro may be fighting for Hakaze, not just for revenge. Hakaze and Yoshino are on some chivalrous quest like knights. They are fighting to avenge a chick and save another. Mario and Luigi off to save Princess Peach. Mahiro may be fighting for his stepsister because he actually thinks of her as a sister, family... big shocker if they grew up together. He may have thought he failed to protect her and decides to accept this quest for revenge because he feels he can save another woman. |

This show has a funny quality to it despite being one of the least funny shows of the season – I tend to like the second halves of the episodes much better than the first. I chalk it up to the fact that it’s necessary to be caught up in the sweeping theatricality and shameless BONES/Okada over-writing for Zetsuen no Tempest to be effective – it’s a show that must be appreciated on a visceral level rather than an intellectual one.
To be blunt, I’m not all that interested in any of the main characters in ZnT (so far the supporting characters Evangeline and Natsumura easily trump the three leads), or even the plot. But there’s a grand, melodramatic quality to it that can be quite enthralling. The beautiful animation, the old-school “stuntman” style special-effects, the sweeping classical soundtrack – this is not the kind of anime we see every day, and it’s to be appreciated almost on an operatic level. So far it’s not a great show by any means, but it’s very unusual and in terms of pure style, of very high quality.

As for ep 3... it was a bit too convenient how Yoshino managed to find Mahiro with healing magic (how exactly did he do that, anyway?), and predicting where the missiles would hit next? By the way, this whole "evil government trying to keep things under cover" just doesn't work. For one, sending military helicopters to bomb the crap out of a place is not exactly the most subtle way to accomplish anything, I mean, hello, military helicopters flying around? explosions that can be heard many kilometers away? Landslide, riiiight. What happened to going around with an unsuspicious-looking car, distributing explosives, then detonating them from far away? (Also, the fact that they bombed the roads. Uh, roads are not the only way to get anywhere...) And it's a bit ridiculous that they expect that no-one is going to wonder about the sudden silence from the town, what with phones, the internet, etc. being available. I know I shouldn't think too deeply about this, but the show is taking itself too seriously for me to dismiss these details. The way the magic works is pretty nice, though. I wonder what other kinds of magic exist and whether we'll see any of it. |

It was shown a few times in the episode but not mentioned. Notice how Mahiro's blood turns into glowy bits and returns to his wounds? (4:40-4:48, 17:28-17:37) Yoshino followed the blood that was on Mahiro's phone when he healed him. As for how he could use that magic, well he was in contact with Hakaze so she must've told him.

It was very much implied the followed the trail of magic bits and I don't think it'd be hard to chasing them when you've got super speed as part of your arsenal. I'd have called it convenient too if the whole episode didn't spend every chance it had showing how the healing process looked like.
