I'm thinking that they are. I hope they aren't, but my gut says that they are.
I mean, Neji had this huge hole in him. As sad as it is, it's more believable.

If Gai, or other Jounins are going after Sasuke too, then it's possible they could be found and taken to Tsunade. Possible...

Both of them shall live. They have evolved too much in the latest chapters, especially chouji, to just die now. Live to die another day you two.

Though I think they are both important to the story, I think they will both die. That's what I voted for at least. Neji may live, but it would be better for the story if Chouji died because it would make Shikamaru upset and realize he needs to work harder like Chouji did in the end. Realizing Chouji's sacrifice may cause Shika to train for once and gain some real power.

they will have to think up something imaginative if those guys come back alive. not that i hate the characters or anything, but they seemed to have no chance of survival.

Neji had a like 5 inch hole going threw like his shoulder...unless someone came like right after the fight I don't see how he could survive and Choji is sposed to die after taking that last pill......but I still voted for neither dieing becuase of the way it left em without actually showing there last breath im assuming there still alive.

What's leaving the door open is that we don't know how much time has passed in between their fights and this part of the manga.

They pick up Genma and Raitou, but we don't see Shikato (was that him) and Shizune in the hospital when they're looking for Lee and discussing her backup plan. (It's pretty cool that Genma still has the strand of whatever in his mouth while he's all bandaged up.)

If we did see them there, it'd be safe to assume they were toasty. Since we don't, they may be assisting in healing the wounded.

Neji never says, "If I do X, I will definitely die." and then proceeds to do X. He gets hit in a non-critical area as well.

Plus there was that news this week about some guy who took 6 nails from a nailgun to the head, and survived.

Also, Choji gets the Butterfly Symbol of Death (BSOD), Neji catches the feather. I want Neji to live, he's my 2nd favorite character. (though the beating by Naruto has turned him into a but of a sissy-pants.)

But, I don't think I'm biased in viewing Choji as almost certainly dead, and Neji as just maybe dead.

I think chouji is almost definately dead.. because of the butterfly. like the inoshikacho thing.. also, he said that he would die. If he does die, this makes me have such great respect for him. He risked his life for the mission.. but.. HOW WILL INOSHIKACHO WORK WITHOUT HIM?!? (T_T)

I think they are alive, tsunade's apprentice Shizune has to be a good healer and she was part of the junin patroll that ran into the 4 sound nins so i think think that she is following shikamuaru's team and will heal the genins that she encounters

The more I think about it the more likely it seems to me that they both died. If it were only one of them though then I'd definitely say Chouji; he did say quite plainly that he'd die if he took the red pill, and then he went ahead and did it. Neji's fate was never so certain and his wound doesn't look critical despite spiderman's assertions that it's an instant kill.
