I think dude (Jellal) needs his own character discussion thread or something. I say this mostly because I'd rather not have to see him brought up in the Manga thread, especially since he hasn't been in the story for a while now.

I'm gonna break your discussion about Gerard/Jellal to say that the latest chapter felt too short.

I really liked the Natsu-Igneel moment up there. Was really funny for the most part. It just got me more on the edge to know all the answers to Natsu's questions.

Can't wait for next week! A double chapter would be nice... :I

I can understand why he didn't. It's just more setting up for Erza vs Kyouka and it looks like Mard Geer might start jobbing to Natsu despite the fact that he was doing a good job holding off both Sting and Rogue.

I enjoy them but only when they're good IMO it wasnt good because once again they've made a big revelation and then leave it for a side fight which is pretty obvious as to how it will end

No thats not why natsu did destroy sting and rogue in GMG so there's no surprise that he's able to beat an opponent who handled thme but its more like they're going away from the Igneel natsu deal for erza kyouka which feels like it should've ended already but they're keeping it around hoping to give the erza fans something good

Yeah, this chapter kinda blew. This fight with Kyouka was delayed to the point where I don't think I even wanna see it anymore. So whatever now. I just wanna get back to Igneel and I wanna see what happens when Natsu gets that book.

Yeah i kinda understand about Erza and Kyouka, for me if it weren't because of the Kyouka linking to FACE thing and Mard's goal of using the Dragons as life force for reincarnating END, i doubt that fight would deserve any focus. So i'll give prob to Mashima for being able to make their fight somewhat relevant though i still find it mediocre.

Yeah, I agree with you guys. Erza vs. Kyouka was very delayed and now it feels just like that Erza vs. Minerva to the Nth fight. Sigh, I feel really sorry for Erza right now, ever since Minerva and partly since Kagura, her fights have been decaying i.e. going downhill. Maybe it's because there isn't much variety to her opponents (but there was that Grimoire Heart tree guy whose name I forgot), so now it's all very repetitive. Especially now since her fight felt clumsily inserted between the Igneel-Natsu moments. C'mon Mashima, you got a great character in your hands. Don't let that to waste.

Guess I'll disagree here. I haven't felt like anything serious has ever started in earnest between Erza and Kyouka so far. So rather than the delay making me feel like this will be the Nth fight, it's more like "about damn time!" for me.

I'm more interested in seeing Geer fight Natsu, but that's the end game and Kyouka would be a leftover issue, so might as well get her fight out of the way.

I'm also on the "fight time!" wagon, Erza is long due a good fight, so...make it count, Mashima! Natsu holding off against MG was also pretty cool - although the manga ended up adapting the anime's good old stock sequence for Natsu's attacks

I think the moment Erza got free from Kyouka's torture room was when things started 'in earnest' between those two. I mean, Erza was humiliated and put through so much pain by Kyouka that it makes the most sense that Erza fight and finish Kyouka right after being released, when their first fight started.

Now, so many (awesome) things have happened since their first fight that now it feels completely underwhelming. Like I said before, the most exciting things going on right now are Igneel vs. Acnologia and Natsu getting that damn book. So since we have no choice but to see this fight, Mashima better make it worth our time. It better be some top-tier shit, which is something we haven't gotten from an Erza fight in a long time now.

How the hell can Natsu make so much damage while being bruised and tired. The power levels are so inconsistent and it's so annoying. I thought Maard looked cool as a villain, but he will go don't by the power of feelings quite pathetically I'm sure.

Feel bad for Kyouka. She didn't want to loose herself just like that I guess. I liked her hesitation, makes her much more human then she would say it I guess. But she needs to defeated in order for Erza to look cool. I just hope she doesn't die...

Mard geer didn't look affected at all by Natsu punch his face look like he found a new toy to play with. Erza vs Kyoka finally going to happen and were is Grey anyways.

I'm with you guys. Personally, I haven't lost interest because of the delay; I'm just ready to see it really start, since Erza and Kyouka have both pretty much been standing there for the last three chapters... I hope it's good thought; I think we all agree that Erza needs a good fight.

I also don't think Kyouka will die because Erza is bound to use her classic "find a reason to live" stuff and... Make her good? Sort of? I don't know, but her hesitation to give up her life for this cause makes her too interesting (to Mashima) for him to just kill outright. He's actually devoted a fair amount of time to her, maybe as much as Silver... Anyway, expecting full demon back story somewhere in the next few chapters...

And as far as the Natsu-MG fight, WEIRD! The dude crumbled, WTX? I would say he's got some kind of an ace up his sleeve or he's planning some kind of trick, but because what amounted to a plea for help from Kyouka, I've kind of shifted my opinion. Normally, I would even argue that him freaking out was a trick to put Natsu off guard or SOMETHING. But then why would he use a secret communication DIRECTLY to Kyouka to tell her speed up Face? A bit disappointing, again adding to my lack of unhappiness with the switch to the Erza Kyouka fight. Let's hope Mashima comes back with something good.

It just seems like they are opening various avenues to get rid of Igneel right off the bat. There are several ways to get rid of him and he's only been out a couple of chapters. Just gives me the feeling of if you're going to get rid of him that fast why bring him out in the first place?

I'm more on a neutral side with Erza vs Kyouka, I would like to see more of Igneel or even Gray, but if Mashima does it well then it will be good too.

Those who didn't want Erza to use "Nakama Power were most likely disappointed, but I actually found myself on the edge of my seat redaing this.

Plus, that next chapter title looks ominous.

Yup, disappointed once again with an Erza fight. I guess the fight isn't over yet (but who are we kidding, Erza is gonna beat the dog shit out of Kyoka next chapter), so who knows how this will really end. Welp, I guess we'll just have to wait to get this over with next week.
