Well since gg has officially decided to drop subbing this, I guess it's high time for me to drop it as well.

Indeed. I don't believe gg have dropped the show, plus a decent sub group has picked up the series and finished it.

Wonder if you'll do the same for Doraemon , Detective Conan etc .... (i guess not 500+ episodes ... or infinite episodes ... )

I liked SnB, but I will admit that this gets filed under the "Guilty Pleasure" for the season.

Art was good, animation was good, and fights were exciting. Plot was holey and stunk of "They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot", with so much more that could have been done with just the "Lisa" line that they just... dropped. I can't speak to adaptation, though I wouldn't mind curling up with a copy of a light novel or two just to see the differences.

Overall: 5/10 (7/10 if you are like me and find this kind of thing a GP) A fair to middling anime that's worth watching if you miss some fantasy cliches, but has no absolutely spectacular aspects. Production values were good too, but not awesome enough to warrant watching on that reason alone. If you don't really love fantasy plots, pass on this one.

Actually I'm one of those who tends to continue watching a series even if I don't end up liking it. I'm also the type who sticks to the work of a specific group once I start watching their subs. In this case, as the series went on I started liking it less and less, and now that gg said they'll drop it (as per this post), I just thought it would be a fine time to free up my... well my free time for other shows.

Imo it's quite the opposite - pass on this one if you DO love fantasy plots. Cause the plot is the weak spot of this series. On the other hand, there are lots of well made characters here, even secondary characters are great (Elsa for example). So if you don't care about the plot but want to see some fresh fantasy moeblobbies you're welcome

For the most part I enjoyed SnB. I could pretty much watch any fantasy based story and find some enjoyment. In my opinion, most fantasy shows need several seasons to really capture the story and give the audience some depth. This show tried to flesh out the charactors a bit and provide the background story but it just ran out of time. The finale wasn't more than the close to an arc.

The show had some nice visuals, likable cast and a pretty good story. It lacked for the reasons described by others. With one season scheduled, I was just surprised they worked so hard to describe the setting at the expense of the overal plot. If we knew the show was scheduled for another season, I think the viewer might appreciate the pace more. Right now, I feel a little cheated.

It's based on a series of light novels and those aren't over yet, it seems. Between a lame anime-original ending that really wraps it all up and a lame true-to-source-material ending that does not preclude an eventual continuation, I'm sure most people prefer the second choice.

well they prolly wana see how the series went, if the ratings were high enough, they made the ending broad enough so that if they do decide to make a second season, it would be easier i guess :/
but i was really hoping for more luke x cecily, thought there would be some kind of relationship there D:
tho i didn't dislike this show, wouldn't mind watching s2

hehe i would enjoy a second season too. though this anime was pretty cliched and predictable it was still enjoyable. not to mention i found it pretty well done since the plot moved along pretty well and though the ending wasn't really satisfactory it still wrapped things up.

I had actually been stalling it for a while now and decided to marathon the last three episodes

Episode 10 - Decent
Episode 11 - A piece of festering turd
Episode 12 - A smaller piece of festering turd.

Cecily is a complete Anti-Sue.
Luke is stupid (mostly because Cecily's Sue qualities)
Aria...is kinda alright but is horribly underdeveloped. Same with Lisa and that old general. Pretty much all the characters actually...
Seigfreid is a generic villian.

And that so called political conference was laughable.
And fanservice and moe is somewhat jarring in a plot that expects you to take it seriously.

Overall Score - 3/10.

Overall enjoyed watching. Obviously if the novels aren't done then it makes sense some characters haven't completed their development yet. Would have been nice if they had one more episode since they could have used it to stretch out the final struggle of the series a little. Hope they do make a second season since there is obviously more story to tell here.

I watched about 3 episodes and stopped watching cuz the main character was so damn annoying/frustrating. Does the series get better?
