Honestly I guess I can see Lupin in the main character but only slightly. I kind of get that he might be sillier than Lupin. They described him as the daniest guy in the galaxy.

His sidekicks are a robot named QT (I couldn't hear but the robot isn't what the MC thought he was) and a cat alien.

They hunt for aliens and they said they already designed about 100 different aliens.

And of course there is bouncing boobs. Not to fond of the fanservice I saw but at least it was honest and in the preview.

Everyone at the panel, Watanabe and the producers were super enthusiastic about it so I am too. It was hard not to be.

It's definitely a homage to older Sci-fi for sure.

Too lazy to recap all the info that's coming out of the Q&As but it's funny how much retro Watanabe's going: in the world of Space Dandy CDs and mp3s haven't been invented,everyone still listens to cassettes

Disappointed this is only 13 episodes. I was hoping it would be 2-cour so I could be watching it the same time Guardians of the Galaxy comes out...

Oh well, this is going to be very fun. It's relevant to every single one of my interests.

A young but talented guy. He's a good animator but has also interesting direction skills. His Umi Monogatari and Tatami Galaxy episodes are worth watching with crazy stuff and dynamic feel. I'm also interested if he'll bring his web-kei pals next to skilled veterans (Yuasa, Nakamura, Koike,...) specially Erukin Kawabata who could express himself freely. Tomoyuki Niho would also fit the alien stuff

Agreed, haven't even seen it yet and I'm already hoping it gets renewed for a second set of episodes. Looks like it's going to be a blast.

I was racking my brain for what it reminded me of, and yes, Space Adventure Cobra it is!

Anyway, not bothered by the busty female characters. I seem to recall Faye Valentine back in the days got similar complaints too but you can't deny she's a complex and nuanced character (not saying Space Dandy's characters would live up to expectations, but I certainly hope so!).

Yeah... I honestly don't think that we'll get anything remotely close to the depth of Cowboy Bebop here. We'll probably get something very entertaining, maybe something equally awesome, but no Cowboy Bebop.

Welp, please don't forget that Watanabe's working on another TV series, more serious than Dandy. So I guess if you want something more complicated than experimental badass comedy, you'll just have to wait longer.
