Wouldn't even say romance...but just the overall sexual tension feels better for me at least. Guess I'm just the kinda of person where if I saw two girls getting it on, I'm trying to jump in there compared to just watching from the sideline.

I can feel the romance between Asuka and Homura! Katsuragi can be the mistress. Yes, I have my yuri goggles on and am going mostly by subtext. I always am. But a lot of shipping runs on hints and teases anyway.

Because you can actually feel something. But when it's just straight up females, it feels empty, like it's not going anywhere.

Honestly, they feel a lot more like forbidden friends instead of "lovers". They both come from different factions, but get along quite well. Asuka is a sweet and kind-hearted girl that get can get along with practically anyone, which Homura felt her honest, friendly feelings towards her.

I feel like that's going to be a subplot in the series, how Asuka and Homura are going to be friends when the factions they work for are old enemies.

Strong friendship is a perfectly acceptable substitute as long as I have my goggles on. I feel this interpretation makes the series more fun to watch. Though people are welcome to disagree. But to me, having Asuka as the protagonist instead of some guy created wholecloth for the anime feels much better. She can interact with the rest of her classmates not as love rivals, but as a peer. (And maybe also lovers. I'm willing to be flexible.)

I just feel as if a male presence would overall make the series more interesting. Perhaps even funnier than it already is.

Heh. I'm sorry, but I don't think grabbing boobs ever constitutes actual romance, "male presence" or not.

More to the point, you guys are ignoring entirely the legitimacy of girls having romances with each other. To make it perfectly clear, Senran Kagura is a series with that kind of leaning. While Katsuragi's boob grabbing antics clearly don't mean to be anything romantic, the show has already made blatant the presence of serious romantic possibilities through Yagyuu's special feelings for Hibari (as just the most obvious example).

I would not even say that this show does not try to appeal to people like you guys' who are stuck on 'male-centric sexuality', since it has those ridiculous sushi eating scenes, after all; but basically if you're not the type of person who can appreciate female sexuality without the presence of a male self-insert, then this show is not for you.

I think this is too comedic for actual relationships with one another, because at least over half the time it is just boob grabbing. But sure, females can have relationships with each other. Just the fact that it has no male lead makes it pretty boring romance wise.

While comedy is certainly one of the side-effects of Katsuragi's boob-grabbing scenes, I'd say the primary point of them (i.e. the one that applies to the largest part of the audience) is meant to be erotic fanservice. Furthermore, the point is not just to make things funny or sexy for the audience, but also to show that Katsuragi is a perverted character.

That is to say, one of the things which Katsuragi's boob-grabbing scenes does is confirm that Katsuragi is an either lesbian or bisexual character. Though some viewers like yourself or Tenchi Ryu might find that boring, there are also audiences who might prefer it that way ("feel the romantic tension") or find it exciting.

Definitely. That is why IMHO, this can't equal or surpass my favorite Samurai Girls....

Well if you're looking for romance, you'll have to settle for YagyuuxHibari. Now, can we get back to the episode please?

Wait, what? You're saying that this is inferior to Samurai Girls just because there's no Mune-Guy around this time?

Well, I like romance in HRSG and that make it lovable. But this doesn't have one so... IMHO it is... Ok, back to topic!!!!!!!!!

Or, she could just enjoy the feeling of breasts. Who's to blame her really? Until one actually states they're bisexual or lesbian, I generally believe they are straight. Because even a hug or a moment of smiling at one another, some people think that makes them homosexual. Which is why I wait until they actually say it.

In all honesty, if you slapped a guy in there none of this "possible lesbian/bisexual" talk would be happening.

As much as there technically have a lot of fanservice in it, it all just feel really natural and matter-of-fact to me. The show knows that itself is silly, and those little quirks make this series somewhat charming. I really don't see it as an ecchi series, more like SoL with action and light comedy.

It would still be happening. If someone is looking for those kinds of things in an anime, they're going to find them, regardless of circumstances. And I like it happening. I want it to be happening.
