Still the dragon is directly related or the source of her trauma. And be it PTSD or Phobias, confronting or coming to terms with the source is one method of curing it. The factor is just how you approach it or how much exposure you need, most of the time it is gradual. But Tuka state is so !#% bad now that either she's interned in an asylum and sedated all day, which is the worst thing you'd do to someone or like the shrink said, what would be considered sudden prolonged exposure. And before you ask a friend has a degree in psychology, I had a psychology course in high school and my mother's side of the family has a history of mental disorders, so I've an understanding of this stuff too. Itami seems to be using the philosophy of "the cure for fear of falling off the horse again is to get back up on the horse". As far as I can see that is as viable a method as any for Tuka in the situation she is in, and with the resources that they have available.

As a psychologist, I do agree that the dragon is not the best method there is but considering they are soldiers and the dragon is pretty much the only link they have with Tuka's father death so i'd say it's reasonable enough. |

I don't think it was really her father that triggered it though. It was seeing her friend Yuno eaten in front of her while her friend was running to her. The horror of that moment froze Tuka in place, prompting her father to abandon all caution to defend her. This resulted in the dragon losing the eye, then the sword stab into the mouth to delay it. Her last image was of her dad smiling at her after he dropped her into the well. At that point he was her lifeline in that moment of trauma and he was pretty much erased as she turned away from the flames. She didn't just lose her father, but the connection that was grounding her stability. It's a pretty complex trauma and I agree with dragon...taking out the Flame Dragon may not be the best method. But I don't see how it can do any more damage than Yao's crap did. Itami and friends are pretty much grasping at straws. Even if they do manage to save her she's gonna be in therapy for a long time methinks.

just finish reading the web version of gaiden 4.
it was probably not the complete book version, the book version will have 560+ pages, there are just not that many pages in the web version, not to mention many key points was not follow up in the end. pretty sure it was meant as teaser for you to buy the book just to find out some of the finer details in ending., (out Dec 19th), the final solution, as the author’s habit of using SDF’s tradition in fantasy world, is quite interesting because it directly deals with how often the Gate can be open, I can actually see it coming when I read the story up to that point, logical and make sense, no complains there, (a big hint, it reflects the title of the book, and not just the hair color of both lead females.) in the end, the book deals with the opening of the gate, a parallel to the opening of Lelei’s heart, and mirroring her situation with Randle which closed hers for revenge. not bad writing technique for a former SDF solider turns author. the skills is beyond light novel territory writing for teenagers IMO. if not for we already know what will happen after Gaiden 4 from novel 5 ending, I would say Yao set up her death flag many times over in the story, I guess the reason to feature her more than Rori and Tuka is to make up for lack of Yao’s own gaiden story. one notable, apparently after Gaiden 3 and many people complains over the emphasis of sexual situation, fan service was obviously cut down in Gaiden 4, Gaiden 3 was not received well for most 2ch readers, because it devalue what is important and gained from novel 2 as nothing, (the battle against flame dragon to save Tuka’s mind.)

Edit: I've managed to snag a picture of how the three main girls will likely appear in the anime. Just can't upload it.

Told you it was just matter of time!!
I mean, it makes ZERO business sense not to animate something that sold over a million copies already, WITHOUT any anime medium help.

It certainly didn't help. She didn't directly see her dad get munched or toasted. She hears voices above the well then gets clonked in the head. Once out, she sees someone she thinks is her father before passing out again. In the vehicle during the dragon fight, she isn't aware that her dad is dead. Just not there with her. Sees other vehicles so logical to assume he might be in one of them or with other refugees. Not until they get done with the fight does it start to register that her dad isn't there. Still thinks he may be alive from the time of the bucket hit mistake. So is waiting. As time goes on and with her dad's absence her mental state starts going downhill. Fear and PTSD doesn't necessarily have to hit all at once in one big clump. It can build up in little doses too and then tomahawk you when you least expect it.
