Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena

Well finally beat Narukami's story and now the job begins to finish story mode for the rest of the characters (which won't take long)

Well that was one heck of a ride. Definitely a pretty good story and just builds on Persona 4. Obviously if anyone has finished his route has had to play the character's (including Labrys herself) to a certain point. Now that was one heck of a frustrating story. People can be far more cruel than anything one can just imagine. Glad in the end Narukami managed to help save the day. Just like any of the characters they ran into in that world he watched them in their darkest moment and accepted them as friends. That conclusion just had the good moments from the game of a character accepting themselves and realizing they aren't alone anymore.

Of course the end was pretty interesting in its own right. I mean wow. I'm not sure where things are going to go from here. This wasn't like Persona 4 where you saw Narukami get on that train and knew it was over. In this case it feels like they've only gotten started. A mysterious force that was controlling Labrys and just cruelly used her like that. So many questions behind it. Why do all this in the first place? Just who was this mysterious person targeting exactly? Was it Narukami and his friends or did it simply use the phenomenon in Inaba for its own purposes? Someone without a persona, but clearly malevolent intentions. Just like Yu to say they can trust Mitsuru, but it doesn't mean the investigation team is going to just take this laying down. They were thrown into this mess and ended up having to fight each other, it is on now.

The problem is how is this going to continue? Possible there's a true ending somewhere in this game after beating the full story for every character...but I have my doubts. This person is not one of the known characters so isn't in the game somewhere to be fought as an opponent. Somehow don't think fighting against each other again will resolve it. Besides this sounds like a whole new adventure more than anything else. Could tie into Persona 4 Golden, but again seems more expansive of a threat than that. Could this actually be connected to Persona 5 (I mean come on we know its coming)? Well clearly the person behind this isn't getting away with it. Margaret did say she looked forward to their next meeting so clearly the adventures of this group isn't done yet.

My comment on the English voices is...Seeing as how I'm more experience with Persona 3 than Persona 4 I must say it was nice to hear the original cast again in their original voices again. Mitsuru sounds JUST like she did in Persona 3, Akihiko sounds the sound but with a deeper voice, and Aegis was a big blast for the past for me especially due to the fact that she sounds just like I remembered, Haven't heard Elizabeth yet.

It is nice to have all the Persona 3 characters that appeared have their regular voices. Ran into Elizabeth during story mode and can say she was definitely herself in this one . As unique as she always is .

Personally think the game has been worth it for the story mode alone. Just a fun epilogue you can throw onto both Persona 3 and 4.

Just watched the Wednesday Night Fight that featured a Persona 4 Ultimate tournament and holy crap does Yukiko ever seem like a Kuroyukihime reference in this entry. She looks a hell of a lot like her sprite wise, kind of has her mannerisms, her persona is covered in blades, she attacks in a very swift and graceful style with bladed fans and as if to make it super obvious her title is "The Unconquerable Snow Black".

All the characters in this game look like they'd be interesting to try out based on what I've seen. Think I'm probably going to pick this up along with KOFXIII at some point. Hope it makes it to PSN and makes the decision easier for me though. By the way if anyone knows, why are their two different versions of Labrys?

if what you say about the possibility of this games plot tying into persona 5 is confirmed by officials, then i'd buy this game no questions asked. i have a funny feeling the persona team is teasing us with these loose ends if there is no solid conclusion after clearing every route ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

Well now that I've defeated story mode maybe I can see what the rest of the game has to offer . Yeah, I just couldn't help myself playing through the entire thing before really touching the rest of the game. On the positive had a fun time and got a feel for the characters so will be easier to decide who to focus on.

But really now that I've seen the whole thing it does seem like this game is saying there is more to come. With the Persona 3 characters got more of an insight as to what the objective of this enemy was. Trying to turn Personas into powerful Shadows that it could 'recruit'. Doesn't appear to be human talking about how they repelled a god and even how it dislikes cooperating with some foolish human. Makes me wonder what the end game is for this being since it needs powerful shadows to accomplish it. Either way clearly they used Labrys and targeted the Persona 4 cast because it was a large group of Persona users. Whoever it is isn't done yet and that just confirms something is coming and that all these characters will be involved somehow.

I was curious if any of the P3 characters would realize that the P4 characters aren't going to back down. In the end only Mitsuru really clued in that they were going to investigate on their own and simply had to decide that she'd try to resolve this before they could get too involved.

All this leaves me wondering where Persona is going from here. We have two strong groups going after this enemy. Akihiko, Mitsuru, Aigis, Labrys, and Fuuka on one side. On the other have everyone from Persona 4. Makes me wonder what will result from this. I'd almost guess it would be Persona 5. But would they just focus on one group or try and mix them both. Plus would be hard to do the normal persona thing regardless with two groups that are already this developed.

Well however they are going to do it they can't be done after just introducing a new enemy. I look forward to seeing what shape that new game is going to take.

On a lighter note I enjoyed Elizabeth's route. She was a ton of fun to watch there. Just completely shut down Shadow Labrys and challenged Narukami to a fight. I like this fight a bit more than the one from his perspective actually. In both he did stand up and not quit, but having the group gather around him and create a power that actually startled Elizabeth was compelling. She learned that just focusing on the ones with the wild card ability wasn't the whole story. The ones they make a bond with and how they make those bonds is just as important. A simple concept that a great power can be born by people who stand together, but a concept that Elizabeth had to experience. Wish her the best of luck in saving the P3 main character, though it clearly will be a long road.

I wouldn't say Persona 5 for now. There's a higher chance that a new Persona 3 game would emerge since the plot of saving P3MC will probably stil be P3. Probably a new arc like The Answer from P3FES having Elizabeth as MC maybe? or having 3 routes to choose from, Shadow Operatives' POV, the P4 Investigation team POV and Elizabeth's POV?

if not a new Persona 3 game, it would be a new fighting game. P3U perhaps?
but of course, stages from P3 instead of P4 since I predict that the plot would circulate around Tatsumi Port Island again. If not there, somewhere the Kirijo Group is at large. Yosuke and Yu did mention Moonlight bridge on their ending so I speculate that it'll be somewhere P3 related

anyway I'm excited, I still wonder who the culprits are. People assume it's Nyarlathotep and some human related to the Kirijo Group

Well mostly just called it Persona 5 since it needs some kind of name. The plot for the next Persona entry could be any number of things and done in any number of ways.

I do wonder if they will ever take the step of going and saving P3's main character. It seems for Elizabeth to be something she imagines will take a very long time. Heck if she thinks Aigis will one day join her on that mission then that could be way in the future . Besides be tough to have any game with Elizabeth having a direct role since she's just insanely overpowered. Can teleport around with that magic, has all that power, etc. Though would be nice to see the guy saved so I'm open to various options.

Location will be interesting. I agree it appears that the enemy is using someone connected to the Kirijo group so that city could be more connected. Of course all things considered the location could be anywhere since the Shadow Operatives are mobile and Persona users aren't just in that city. Inaba could just as easily return as the location. After all the P4 cast can still only use Personas in the TV world and are a major target of this new enemy. Besides few of them have major money to be traveling around as students . Unless we are handing the P4 cast envokers or find a new way to summon Personas they might have to keep the plot there.

In the end it's pretty interesting. They've clearly sent the message that this universe isn't done yet, but haven't really made clear where exactly the story will go. Well I'm glad they made this game if only to tell us that more is coming.

Makes one wonder. I figured at the very least it meant she finally discovered her own arcana and that it is the fool. Think the P3 main is far too busy with his job to be able to spare any effort. It would be a nice thing though if that was true.

I don't know why, but I'm left feeling as if the unseen villain IS Minato (P3 protag). I just had this ominous feeling that it was him, from how driven the old P3 cast is to fix this, to the comments about repelling a god, to Elizabeth's involvement in the story. It all seems to line up too perfectly to just be some giant space flee from nowhere, unless we're going to also be tying in P1 and P2, at which point I can see any number of possible villain, particularly Nyarlathotep.

That said, giving the Fool Arcana to Eliz seems to be setting her up as a possible future protagonist... but that'd mean she'd need to lose all those superpowers of hers. Does she still count as a World Arcana too? Minato seemed to have no problem being Fool, Death, Judgment, and Universe all at once... but maybe he's an oddball exception what with how powerful he's supposed to be from housing Nyx all his life.

It's extremely unlikely the unseen villian is Minato considering he's still a seal, he doesn't have the ability to shape shift, and Elizabeth herself is still trying to save him. If he was the villain, no let me rephrase that if the REAL Minato was the villian, you bet your ass Elizabeth wouldn't have just left the tournament the way she did. She would have personally dealt with him on the spot. It's highly likely that the main villian is Nyarlathotep from the older persona games and the human accomplice of the main villian is a survivor of the Kirijo researchers, or someone who wants to continue Mitsuru's grandfather's work. As for Eliz's Arcana being the fool, this just means she has the potential to get even WAY stronger and have access to various other Arcanas like Minato did.

Spoiler for Big concern involving Narukami:

You know for a fact this is not some big hint for whats going to go on in Persona 5 mainly because all of you are forgetting one crucial thing, Narukami is only back with the group for a whole week for Golden week once that's up he goes back to the city, thus making it impossible for him to stay long period. So there's a WAAAY higher chance that they either might have DLC packs for this game, or we're going to get all Blazblue up in here and get sequels to the fighting game. Plus considering the investigation group decided their next move was to go to Port Island the setting of Persona 3 Expect to see more old faces.

Just finished story mode with all the characters. That is indeed quite the tease for a new game. Persona 4 Arena 2 will definitely be made now, especially after how well the game preformed and sold in Japan. Atlus would have to be total fools not to follow up on it's success.

And toward the speculators, I'm pretty sure Persona 5 has nothing to do with this right now. It could potentially be set in the same universe, but it'll likely have a whole new plot, setting and cast of characters separate from this game.

AFAIK, all Persona games are set in the same universe. There just hasn't been an established link between Persona 1+2 and 3+4 yet.

I think 1+2 was connected to 3. If I remember correctly, all characters from 1 and 2 are mentioned in the TV in the dorm's lobby which was hosted by Trish.
