Alas, you have an oil/gas industry not interested in such things. Moving forward, I just hope the general fossil fuel industry looks more into this - and develop it further.
Well, this might not be as great as it sounds. The part that really contains the energy in the fuel is the hydrogen. You could look at it differently: They turn waste into "unclean" fuel using "clean" fuel (hydrogen).
The waste is used to make the hydrogen more compatiblle with internal combustion engines. However, even the waste has to be rather pure (highly concentrated COx) to make this economical. So you cannot simply extract the COx from the atmosphere. That means, its hard to "reuse" this fuel.
Pure hydrogen does not set free large amounts of COx when burned... and after recombination/reaction with oxygen it is pure water. Pure water can be converted into hydrogen again (there is no COx in an open loop - in contrast to methanol).

New Stratolaunch plane will take people into Earth’s orbit

"Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen is teaming up with aerospace pioneer Burt Rutan to
build a giant machine that is part airplane and part spaceship. The new vehicle will
be able to transport people and cargo into Earth's orbit and is scheduled to be
commercially available by 2016."

While not really technology news, I found this to be an amazing example of how technology can be used in visual arts.

Well, she does belong in a museum. It is too bad I could not make it to Dulles last time to see Enterprise.

“Super memory” pill–and possibly an Alzheimer’s cure–could be around the corner

"Scientists have isolated a gene in mice that works to give them "super
memories" and reverses the course of several degenerative mental illnesses like
Alzheimer's. And because of the similarity of mice and human brains, a powerful
brain pill for humans may now not be far off."

IBM's Top 5 Technology Predictions for the Next 5 Years

"Crystal-ball forecasts, fanciful or otherwise, are a staple of year-end
conversations, but IBM, the computer-services giant, has a research arm that
makes them as a matter of course. Every December, it puts out a "5 in 5" list --
five predictions for the next five years. The company says it is a way to solve
major societal problems, identify business opportunities, and, while they're at it,
get people talking."

Soooo, doea this mean if Sailor Moon gets remade they will have to change her catch phrase to, "In the name of the moons, I will punish you?" Or will her daughter get renamed after the second, "moon of the month"?

Once Japanese robot scientists gets hold of carbon nanofibers to make artificial muscles, that's when AS will become a reality.

Now what they need to do is advance quantum mechanics enough so that the Lambda Drive becomes a possibility.

One step at a time. They need a powerful enough engine to make sure it moves before trying something radical like a Lambda Driver. While diesel and gas turbine engines would likely work...Cold Fusion is the ideal from Full Metal Panic.

And of course increased research into your Electroactive Polymers.

Of course the inventor is going for Gundam. I find the Arm Slave to be....perhaps, more practical.

Diesel and gas turbine, I guess the 1st step is the Walker Machine, Xanbungle and such lol, mecha run by GUTS. Cold Fusion is great, but yea its still very far in the future.

Carbon nano technology is the best thing that's happening right now, along with high tech metamaterials. The potential for super light weight super strong, flexible and conductive materials with specialised properties, mecha doesn't sound too far fetched anymore.

In Gundam 00, the E-Carbon armour is essentially carbon nanotubes, which at the same time acts as fuel storage for general MS. Just like how aircraft stores fuel in the wings and parts of the fuselage, a carbon nanotube armour can store electrical energy. Combined with metamaterials embeded in the armour, in no time artificial pigment, holographic camouflage or even invisibility would be possible.

I'm sure there would also be space for nanomachines to constantly repair and maintain the carbon nanotube armour as well.

Here's the 1st generation KMF for you:

And just a jaw dropping demonstration of the extent of mecha enthusiasm in Japan, a guy self funds and builds a whole gigantic robot beetle in his garage by himself and its a MKIII.

Behold Kabutom RX-03:

Makes you wonder what the Imperial Japanese Army would be using if they were still around with the fasination with mecha.

The first one is definately not All Terrain, the legs don't raise at all.

The RX-03 doesn't seem to raise its body very high off the ground, so it isn't all that All Terrain either.

These things need some really good balance or compensators to be any better than wheeled trucks or tracked tanks. That or follow the AS system and hope to can build something that can move like a human and be controlled by a human from the inside...and hope you can train those operators to feel the balance so the things doesn't "fall down and can't get up".
