Stranger saves people.
Idk why but i like it when the main protagonist helps save the people that they dont know and once they save them, they start being friends, etc.m or maybe they are some kind of legend but the other person doesnt know.

This happens at the beginning of Big O and the characters remain with each other for the entire series.
Haha, I think it happens too in Panty Stocking and Garterbelt, but I'm not sure I'd recommend that to anyone . Not that it isn't good, just very different. It looks kinda Western, and can be pretty vulgar at times.

Fate/Stay Night, Shirou takes saving to a totally new level.
Rin from Ao no Exorcist kind of made 2 friends like that. Claymore has this kind of thing going on for some time. The main cast in Inuyasha had met in similar way. Sword of the Stranger, main cast became close in similar way too. All the meetings in these shows last throughtout whole series or biggest part of it. However, you have mentioned Samurai Champloo and there all the meeting lasted maximum 2-3 episodes. So if the saved cast can be just one time appearer, I can add more to the list.

Here's an interesting choice for you...
Mushi-shi okay, so in all technicality, Spoiler for some episodes of Mushi-shi:
However, as he travels around the land, with mushi and spirits still being rather influential in the time period of the series, he does a lot of good work
