No, it's just a bad dice roll. There are only a few configurations that everyone would accept as being entirely fair (seeded matches where aces are kept well apart so the big fights come later). Statistically, rolling the dice to determine placement means there will almost always be some wanton unfairness. It just so happens that this unfairness spawned as "so many Saki aces in one block". As well as cases like "Tohsaka Rin spawned next to DOOM on round 1" and "Nozomi of Mayoi Neko spawned next to OHSHIT on round 1".

Wontaek has argued for a seeded placement in Saimoe tournaments in the past. At least in KSaimoe, they didn't want to hear of it - they liked it being 100% random with the dice rolled at every round. I assume it's a similar story for Saimoe itself.

8/18 in one block is amusing though, when the expected number should be around 2-3 per block.

Also aw man, Hajime rush was just disheartening. Sohara was just about to catch up.

Well, that certainly was an exciting finish to both matches. But in the end, the consensus favorites prevailed.

As for today, Nodoka and Nanako are the obvious predictions based on the numbers alone. Hope Hanamaru finally gets on the scoreboard. Supporting her, and Yamada.

Was gonna vote for Yamada, but I guess I'll wait and see just in case there are real votes in this shenanigan and this Akari girl can actually win... then I'll vote for her just to beat Nodoka.

For D block, I don't really care much. Seen Index/Railgun but Aisa is one of those no-outward-expression-of-emotion girls, so I'll go with the cute kindergarten teacher of whose show I have only seen the first episode.

Akari is up to 90 votes. Obvious fakery, or there is major collusion to get rid of Nodoka (kinda scary if thats the case. If there is a group out there strong enough to take out Nodoka with a minor character, they can take out a lot of favorites).

@Yaya having only 1 vote. Is 18 characters from Saki the most from one series ever in saimoe?

Well Yaya was pretty much comedic relief in Shugo Chara so unsurprisingly she gets 4th place.
