hmm a little late but, mine currently ;p
Naru > Yaya > Hana > Tami ; Machi (not much known yet so...) nerve racking episode end...and just as Naru was thinking it would be OK, since she caught up from the bad start...looks like Hana is sick...

I was actually fully expecting Hannah to just keel over -- she obviously wasn't at 100% for the performance -- but for the implosion to come from Naru was a surprise. Unfortunately, given that this is Naru, angst will surely follow, though this seems to set up Machi finally stepping in next week.

You know, these girls really need a literary break, especially Naru. Seeing it was rather painful honestly given their enthusiasm beforehand. Well, there was some expectation of that given the setup with the nightmare and the general nervousness of the girls, but still...
Though unto other matters, soft and plump thighs- *SHOT*

The ending made me cringe so hard. I wasn't expecting them to screw up so badly on their first performance. Naru is going to be traumatized after this. Thankfully, she has friends by her side to help her overcome this.

Well...that was a rough first outing . Though can't say I didn't expect them to have a few troubles. First performance as a group so there was bound to be some nerves creeping in there. All of them were struggling to some degree with nerves before jumping out there.
Certainly did seem like Hana was fighting something. Could have just been overly nervous for the first chance to perform yosakoi like this, but possible she was a bit under the weather. Not the type to throw away this big chance even if she wasn't feeling great. Naru of course had the big implosion out there. I shouldn't be surprised that she was the one with some performance trauma to deal with. Though perhaps could have dropped some more hints as to it before we got to this point. In the end these things do happen. It's just that in a huge group it's easier to hide one or two bad performances, but in a group of 4 that's not going to happen. A nice move to try and make us think the only problem would be at the very start. Though will say it seemed like overall Tami and Yaya were holding it together even as things started to fall apart. But not much one can do when Naru actually falls down. Some good moments were in there though. Some laughs with Naru and Tami freaking out with the weight thing, Yaya needing Naru to tell her she looks cool so she can enter the building , the forgotten music, etc. Seems like they'll combine the Machi recruitment along with dealing with the aftermath of this yosakoi trainwreck. One can kind of guess the issues that Machi has with her sister. Getting her recruited to the club her sister is advising should be fun. Good luck Tami . The last few episodes were fun to catch up with though. Kind of liked the Naru/Hana combination on dealing with Yaya's troubles. Shows that this group has a lot of small relationships strung together. It's not just about one of the girls, but everyone has their connections.

Revisiting C3-Bu: the Line sure brings back some memories. The frightening part was the fact that Naru is approaching the point where Yura's story in C3-Bu is starting to sound too fitting for her.
Quoting a sufferer of The Line PTSD over at /a/: Well done Naru, you've done what the rest could not, destroyed the damned performance. Do you feel like a princess yet? No matter what happens next, don't be too hard on yourself. Even now, after all you've done, you can still go home. Lucky you.

On that note, I'm surprised the preview had no sign of Naru bed-ridden and in despair. After that mess up, it sounds like something she would do. |

Besides, the performance was doomed to fail even without Naru falling down. It's very clear that something is not right with Hana, as evidenced by the fact that she's been red in the face the entire time. She's probably been running a fever all through the show and the dancing made things worse. But because she didn't want to cancel the performance, she pushed herself without telling anyone. Plus, she was the one who messed up first, which caused the whole group to become out of sync, which eventually led to Naru falling down. Also, this will probably prompt Machi to take center stage and eventually join the group when she realizes that she can use yosakoi to come to terms with her own issues and move out of her sister's shadow. Speaking of sister, it wasn't till Tami mentioned Sally's sister that I realized this had to be Machi. The plot requires a reason for her to be there, so Sally forgetting the CD was the perfect opportunity to make her watch the performance.

I do agree with you that Naru shouldn't quit. She has to learn from this and keep moving forward.

I like the drama is going so far, not too heavy, just enough conflict to move the growth of the characterization along.
Judging from the previews the dance debacle didn't seem to have traumatized Naru too much, I guess. Sure there are a lot for her to work out on in order to overcome such personal hurdles. Next week seems to deal more on Machi, her beef with her sister and what she would bring on to the table for the team. I could only vaguely guess on reasons or how she joins the group. Sally sure became more significant to to the story than just as a comedic aloof club advisor. |

What interested me the most is that someone of Hana's physical abilities could mess up to the extent she did.
To do Parkour of the level of skill she showed requires an incredible athlete. Out of curiosity I looked up some Parkour demonstrations and what she did would be considered near the top level of world class but still possible, even falling on Yaya back in ep and hopping between the tops of the Tori. I guess the only question for me was doing those particular things in geta and a kimono, but hey - fiction and all that. She must have been extremely sick and/or nervous as well!
