This looks interesting so far. Certainly passes my 3rd episode mark, so I guess I'll be following this.

It's quite a rarity that I liked both the OP and ED quite a lot too.

Am I the only one bug by Silver crow metallic coloring?
It doesn't blend into the background at all :\

Anyway the Haru moment was awk for me...are they trying to create a love line there or it's just "fanservice" in some way?

Interesting development with this episode. We now know Kuroyukihime's goal. As for the reason why she chose Haruyuki, it has not been revealed yet. One possibility is that he has low self-esteem and is easily manipulated to be her underling.

I just noticed something between the 2 protagonist's name. Kuroyukihime, which I was questioning earlier, is Black Snow Princess; whereas Haruyuki is Spring Snow. I wonder if that will have any significance?

Chiyuri lost some brownie points this episode. I know you are supposed to feel sympathy for her, but she displayed the typical "having her cake and eating it, too" behavior. She has a boyfriend, yet also wants another guy on the side. In that regards, she truly does not care for Haru's feelings, and is the one that is using him. I've known people in real life that do that, and it is never a pretty situation. It is actually very greedy of her.

To be fair, Chiyu didn't went out to look for a boyfriend. She wanted to keep the relationship between the three of them how it is, 3 good friends. Taku confessed to her, she asked Haru about it to see if it's alright, and after being assured by Haru she should accept and it won't change anything between the 3 of them she did so. Now though Haru drifted apart from them despite promising he wouldn't have done that, and she's not happy with that.

Besides, she did hint if Haru was the one that confessed back then, well...

IMO, the only thing Chiyu wanted is the status quo the 3 of them once had. Taking into account the situation back then, it seems reasonable to me. How it is now though is debatable.

love is also a race anyway, the first to confess has more chances of winning, and Haruyuki is right they are not kids anymore Chiyuri has a boyfriend they cannot maintain that 3 friendship system they had, since part of growing up is the rise of jealousy

Well Haruyuki is a nice guy if you look past the lack of self esteem I guess :P
I honestly think Takumu know about this.
There will be a problem with him later, and considering the genre, I feel like he might turn out to be a player in Brain Burst or help one of them defeat Silver Crow lol. It's kinda easy to figure it out considering the way they're setting it up, ie main character vs his best friend.

Taku's cable is one meter? Chiyuri confirmed for size queen slut

Seriously, though, I expected Accel World to be an enjoyable show, but this episode exceeded my expectations and surprised me in a lot of ways. It came as a real surprise to me that Chiyuri has a boyfriend, something that's actually quite rare in most anime. The Link Burster system is really interesting, I was pretty captivated during this episode's dialogue-heavy info dump, and Snow Black has a pretty epic backstory. Her dark personality appeals to me a lot.

The highlight of the episode was the Hirayuki x Chiyuri Soul Link heart-to-heart, though, which has to be one of my all-time favorite anime scenes. It was both incredibly erotic (mmm, pink stockings) and extremely sweet at the same time. Chiyuri is a very human character, the conversation she has with Hirayuki and the protectiveness and concern she shows within are painfully realistic and relatable for me.

Spoiler for Jellyfish's Spoilers:

I think the Burst Linker thing might be possible, but Taku seems like a good kid. Even if he were being blackmailed or something, all those years of friendship don't just disappear.

Seriously though Haru, he's on a bed, on top of his cute childhood friend, who already has a boyfriend (a chance to NTR? ) and even when she hugs him he was calm enough to do what he went to do and indeed find something suspicious. If that's not GAR I don't know what is

BTW fellow hentai lovers, how many of you are expecting a doujin out of this scene?

Pretty much the same thing that I thought after reading the manga. There is no triangle here, she just wanna keep being friends with both of them.

But the fact is, she did accept a boyfriend without thinking about the consequences. Afterwards, she was looking for Haru's approval, which is nothing more than forcing him to accept something he does not want.

What was he supposed to say? "No, I am in control of your life b***h, and when I tell you that you can't date someone, you better bend over and listen."

He had to agree, otherwise, the relationship between the 3 would have broken up, and he would have been left alone.

In other worlds, she is being unfair to both guys and playing both guys. These situations always ending up hurting everyone, and she will probably end up alone (well, if it was real life she would).

It would not surprise me if Chiyu ends trying to play the victim in all this, and tries to put the blame on either Taku or Haru. She already has sort of, hinting that if Haru confessed instead.

Again, to be fair, this at most a 2-3 years ago when they're barely out of primary school. How many of us here are mature, intelligent people that can plan years ahead when we're about 10 years old? It's unrealistic to expect people to not mess up as they grow up, IMO.

Chiyu wanted to have their relationship stay as it is, despite Taku confessing. If she turned him down it's likely the relationship within the trio will strain if not break, and Chiyu doesn't want that either despite not interested in romance. She wanted a way to keep things the same, and after Haru said he wouldn't mind she gladly accepted the end where everyone will be happy. Tough luck that life isn't that simple as some, if not all of us, that's cynical enough from life experiences can say

I'd say more, but it'll be spoilers. If you feel like coming to the Accel World LN thread to further discuss this I'm willing to oblige

Actually, I would rather say she -did- think about the consequences since she didn't accept right on the get go and was in emotional turmoil until Haru told her it would be fine.
As implied by her, she perhaps unintionally wanted a reaction from Haru, but he basically gave them his blessing instead of pulling a drama or confessing.
Let's remember that Haru started to distance himself from them only for a year, so back during this period, Haru wasn't that much introvert towards them, hence why it is plausible that at that time, if he was -really- against that, he would say something. It is only due to the time has passed that Haru has more time to deal with it. In fact, it is rather Haru who basically ignored that he would be the one having problems to deal with the situation.

The fact he could potentially ask her not to do so could shake the relationship between the three of them, but also keep the statu quo if they pose friendship above romance (which happens, however rare it may be).

It isn't really like being unfair or not. Rather, Chiyu was basically stuck between a rock and a hard place: there is no "correct" course of action in this mess, because she doesn't know Haru's real feeling at that given time, and had no idea how Takku would react if he got rejected. Therefore, asking an opinion is something "appropriate" even if the answer from Haru could be guessed from the get go. However, if the unexpected does happen (like Haru confessing her to her), it could give her the possibility to force a statu quo because she doesn't want to hurt anyone and both guys would realize the issue here.
But since Haru has absolutely no problem (as he didn't have any feelings for her, romantically), well here goes the decision.

And that mess occured while the three of them were just 13 years old, so the issue was rather handled in a "decent" way for people of their ages.

Guys, I think the most important topic to discuss should be what would you have done if you were on top of Chiyuri on that bed with her being all cute?

@jinxidol: lol good one, mangatron will be quite proud of that.

Yeah, this was basically what I had in mind and posted 5 minutes ago. Apart from how they're 13 now and the boyfriend thing was a few years ago *points at flashback scene of how the three of them when younger*

Wait a min... they -currently are- 13? I thought they were currently 14 years old, turning 15 (as Kuroyuki is 15-16 at most), and that the whole thing happened when they were 12-13.
Chiyu will turn smoking hot in 4 years then
