Last night a few Linux loving friends and I were trading e-mails about Microsoft Australia referencing Fifty Shades of Grey in its TryIE campaign, and I commented I found the pop culture referencing in the campaign cringeworthy. Then wondered if we might ever get some marketing more to my tastes, and noted that there was no official IE-tan to compliment Microsoft Japan's Madobe Nanami (the official Windows 7-tan) and Madobe Ai and Madobe Yuu (the official Windows 8-tans).

Today I woke up and found out about this video being released.

Inori here seems a bit different from the mascots Microsoft Japan has put out... the Japanese ones seem mainly intended to move special editions of Microsoft software. Hell, Microsoft Japan has shipped a moe figure with a copy of Visual Studio 2010 (programming software) before.

Singapore is well known for it inherent lack of creativity when it comes to marketing, whether it be private or corporate. We are like a mini-China when it comes to brands and products; bad copies everywhere to the extent of lameness.

We have nothing unique, so forgive us if that mascot looks retarded.
