I suggest we drop this before things get sticky. As far as fanfiction discussion goes, I don't think social science debates are going to be much help in this case.

Maybe Mid Childa is evolutionist by nature and deems any girl who hits puberty as fair game? We just don't know, so any possibility could be correct.

Truth in fanfiction then, I guess. My cousin joined the air force at 18 and was legally allowed to drink alcohol, while everyone else had to wait until 21.

They figure if you're legally allowed to die for your country, might as well give you access to beer while they're at it.

Burnt flesh engulfed my nostrils and I whimpered, the putrid smell making me gag. I still hid underneath my bed, a thin blanket covering my small, trembling body from the horror unleashed outside. Agonizing screams echoed throughout, clangs of swords and blasts of bullets intertwining with the other noises, creating a perfect mirror of one another. I shut my eyes, whispering to be saved, tears silently running down my bruised face. Suddenly, a loud crash was heard and without warning, someone grabbed one of my legs and dragged me out from my refuge. I screamed, kicked, anything to be let free but it was futile; the giant, calloused hands had a firm grip on me.

“Lookie what I found,” cackled my captor, dangling me in front of his friends. “I may have found a nice toy...”

I screamed, flailing with all that I had but all I got out of it was a very painful smack to my face which broke my nose.

“Oi! Don't damage the goods!” growled one of them, shoving my captor.

“I found her first so I get to do whatever the hell I want!” roared the man holding me.

I brought my trembling hands slowly to my nose, trying to stop the flow of blood dripping down to the ground but it was no use; it kept flowing profusely through my fingers. I hiccuped, feeling the blood rapidly rushing to my head as time passes by. I dropped my hands clutching my nose to my sides and just allowed myself to be dangle helplessly in the air, the men bickering about who would 'play' with me first.

“Mama...papa,” I croaked, my vision finally blurring. “Big brother....Big Sister...”

My captor must have heard what I said because he mockingly repeated,”Mama, papa, Big brother, big sister...” Then he dropped me to the cold, hardwood floor, blood staining my white dress.

“Well, I got news for you, princesses,” he snickered, putting his muddy boot on my head. “Mommy and daddy are not coming to save you!”

I closed my eyes and just repeated what I had said before, oblivious to what the men were saying.

“What is going on here?” said a unknown man with authority. I slowly opened one of my eyes that was not bruised and looked up. I still couldn't see well but what I was able to make out was a tall figure with a thick jacket that went all the way to his knees. He was holding a red walking stick but I was pretty sure it was not used for just that. He looked around and then his eyes landed on me.

“Release the girl,” said the man, walking towards me.

My captor obeyed without hesitation. Relieved from the pressure of the foot, I was turned on my back and forced to look at the man that would ultimately decide my fate.

“So tell me, girl,” he whispered to my ear. “How would you like to marry my boy?”

This would have been better. Oh, give me a moment here, i think the FBI's at my door.

Ah, NaNo is finally over, and while I am working on the next chapter of Angel, I had this little short come into my head . Earlier, there was some mention of a "what if Nanoha and Precia had bonded"...so here's a one-shot!

...Nanoha, don't you know not to talk to strangers?

A Mysterious Encounter?

“What are you doing?”

The purple-haired woman straightened, looking over at Nanoha in surprise. In her long-fingered hands she held something yellow and limp.

“He died,” the woman said, and Nanoha was struck by the sadness in her pale eyes. The girl moved closer, timidly looking at the pitiful, dead ferret curled and cold in the woman’s cupped fingers.

“Poor guy…” Nanoha felt her eyes tearing, touching the ferret’s head lightly.

“Yes.” The woman knelt and laid the broken body in the grass. “You are…?”

“Nanoha. Takamachi Nanoha.”

“Nanoha.” The woman blinked, then reached down and picked up a red gem, brushing the dirt from the gleaming surface with her thumb. “My name is Precia.”

“Precia-san, was he yours? How did he die?”

“His neck was broken. No, he wasn’t mine, but he was a clever boy. He had knowledge that I need…but it’s too late now, I should have thought things out better.” Precia sighed, contemplating over the red jewel. She reached a decision and held it out to Nanoha. “Here, why don’t you have it? It’s called Raising Heart, and it will give you powers.”

“Powers?” Nanoha asked in amazement as Precia dropped Raising Heart into her hands.

“Yes…I wish I had it before, but it’s no use now…” Precia coughed, an expression of utter desolation crossing her face, making Nanoha pause and pat the woman on the back awkwardly in comfort. “I’m too sick to save her anymore…”

“Save her?”

“My daughter…Alicia.”

Chewing her lip, Nanoha looked at Raising Heart, then at Precia’s face, seeing and feeling the sorrowful pathos emitting from the lady. She closed her hand over Raising Heart tightly. “Um…can I help?”

“You would?” Precia looked pathetically grateful, a glimmer of hope appearing in her lonely eyes. “Thank you so much Nanoha…you’re such a kind child.” She inclined her head, a small smile on her red lips. “You remind of my Alicia…”

Nanoha laughed shyly, putting one hand behind her head. “What can I do?”

“There is a place called Al Hazard that can save my little girl…but to get there, I need these lost objects called Jewel Seeds…” Precia proceeded to teach Nanoha about the Jewel Seeds, and ended her lecture with, “…and Raising Heart allows you to transform and use spells that can seal the Jewel Seeds.” She faltered. “It’s such a dangerous thing to ask of a young girl—”

“That’s alright,” Nanoha said earnestly, her slate-blue eyes shining with determination. “I offered to help!” She fiddled with Raising Heart, lifting the gem to her eye curiously. “I hope we get along, Raising Heart.”

“If Raising Heart isn’t compatible with you, don’t worry,” Precia assured her, putting a hand on Nanoha’s shoulder. “I can get you another Device if you like—ah, don’t worry!” With a smile, Precia added her final confident words, “Its old user won’t need it anymore.”

Not exactly. It depends on which nation your uniform belongs to as well as where you are stationed. That said US officers do tend to turn a blind eye to it even if it does violate code.

Considering the TSAB shows little -if any- qualms about recruiting willing nine-year-olds into the military, this might not be such a crazy idea as it sounds at face value.

But then, I live in a country where half of it's inhabitants don't even know what the age of consent is, and said half often doesn't really care either. Generally it's assumed 15/16-ish is as apropriate an age as any, since that's the age most start drinking as well.

Hmm, okay. I wouldn't know the details myself since I'm not in the military and never plan to be (I'm terrible with authority). But yeah, we're American so I guess that does make sense if that's the case.

I'd have to agree with Raiser on this, on the basis that they have nine year old children in the military. Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed, and all that. I'd see more fuss raised by abuse of power in relationships then the actual relationships.

On a more serious note.... very interesting. Almost dark and creepy, when you think about the overtones of what Precia is saying and what she might have done. Personally, I'd be interested to see what would happen if Precia bonded with Nanoha enough to actually pull off a Face Heel Turn, or at least consider it.

So if she's using Nanoha to gather the Seeds, does this mean she never made Fate? Or was she abandoned?
