So I did some digging around and found some random facts... apparently, the carrier-schools in GuP are quite enormous.
Oorai's school ship is at least 7.6km in length, and its the smallest ship we've seen so far. The USS Ronald Reagan, in service as of 2012, is only 338 meters long... - Tak (Alright, do we have parking enforcements on the ocean?)

The T-34 was build in massive numbers, but also lost in massive numbers against German armor. The ration seems to be by wars end something like three T-34 destroyed for every one German tank of any description. In addition to the other Soviet armor destroyed that aren't T-34s. A 37 mm gun can penetrate the turret armor on some T-34/85s due to poor cast quality of the armor used in some production centers. Otherwise on an older T-34 all it would be good for is jamming the turret.
This means even the M3 secondary weapon and the Type 89 can hurt the T-34/85s. The Char B1 shouldn't have problems either with its secondary 47mm cannon and main 75 mm howitzer. (The Panzer 38(t) would be a threat as well...but Momo's the gunner)

Man, those ships are really huge. A curiosity is that in fact there are projects of floating cities with capacity to house tens of thousands of people, but they are circular and made of a type of plastic.

Overall Soviet tank losses in the Eastern Front was between 85k to 100k, or more than twice than Germany's total tank production. Tiger kill ratio in the Eastern Front was on average 1:5 or 1:6. Although known as a cheap AFV produced in massive quantities, I would like to point out that price in a command-economy almost has no meaning. And any factories efficiently equipped would be able to produce just about anything in large quantities. Take for example, the Sherman, produced nearly as much as their Soviet counterpart. Unfortunately, people don't seem to give the Shermans that much credit when compared to the T-34. Yet overall, I consider the Sherman to be a better weapon system. Why? Aside from comparable weapons, the Sherman had better optics, better internal layout/legroom and... *gasp* radio (which many T-34 actually lacked). All these additions were also enjoyed by German panzers. In addition, the M4 Sherman were simply more reliable. - Tak

The French 47mm tank-mounted guns don't have much more penetration than a standard 37mm, and the 75mm it has is a low-velocity gun that's barely any better. Moreover, that 75mm gun is hull-mounted and has no traverse (as opposed to the StuG III's gun with 25-degree lateral traverse) so it's not the greatest weapon to use. Quote:

A weak turret that can be penetrated by a 37mm shell was the point I was making, since it means even the lighter tank weapons can knock out a T-34/85. But only turret hits. Otherwise there would be abolutely no point in having a 38(t) or a Type 89 involved in this sport, as they aren't very useful against tanks fielded by the other schools.
The 37mm cannot penetrate the armor on the older T-34 turrets, but some reports that they can penetrate the armor on the T-34/85 due to softer metal used in the larger turrets (probably to save weight, but also due to metal shortages).

I would not count on tanks that had real-life issues with poor metal in their armor having those issues in senshado. All of these tanks were built and rebuilt and repaired using modern alloys, and I doubt they're going to use poorly-made metal just because the original once did. I expect senshado tanks are built to the specs of the original, which many of the wartime tanks were not. |

Scouting I suppose is viable. But fielding something like that against a "Russian" unit or a "German" unit that operate heavier armor (T-34s and Tigers), it makes very little sense to operate light tanks unless you have no other options (Oorai is literally scrapping the bottom of their ship looking for tanks).

I read several pages ago, about the rules that characterize what kind of tank can participate in matches and it seems that any tank produced until 1945 is allowed, it also seems that a tank is allowed to be repaired and even improved since that is done with concepts, technology and materials available until 1945, so no modern alloys.

Save for safey of the crew that is. This is not war, it is high school. So the crews are suppose to survive (which seems to be a flaw in Black Forest's training program, unless they are training for actual war after high school. Of which there is currently no suggestion of.)
Come to think of it, why have tanks as an elective in high school if there not used in warfare? Or have a JSDF trainer even? What does the world do with tanks after High School?

Again, thinking too hard about the settings of this show is pretty much a folly. You cannot connect the dots, and the whole thing does not make a lot of sense - Tak
