To me, an interesting aspect to show next would be how will these girls go about their relationship to Kio, now that we all know basically the agenda of these girls. Will they put the job before their emotions, can they really have their job/goals co-exist with their daily lives now that it has been raised to the next level, those kind of things. Heh, I get a good chuckle out of thinking about the discussions of old, in regards to the big question "[in reference to harems] why do girls flock to the same guy", with shades of that actually happening in the Amagami thread, but for this series, it brings about the "what do all these girls want from Kio" question |

I checked it out and it was pretty good. I was thinking the summer season was lacking in the harem genre alarmingly enough. This series fills that void. Whether the direction is going to be the usual run-of-the-mill harem series, or it's going to be something different has yet to be seen. The opening episode was pretty good. The pacing was no where as fast as a typical episode of Ichiban Ushiro no Dai Mao. The opening was intriguing and then it tapered off a lot to the mundane. It picked up a little bit when the megane-ko' comes out of her pretense. So not exactly sure yet what kind of opinion I should form about it. I just recognized the signs in the episode that is typical of a harem genre, so I intend to persist with it.

Add me to the crowd of people who came here with specific (and probably somewhat prejudiced ) expectations, and were pleasantly surprised by what the show had to offer instead. I enjoyed the more serious take on the typical "mysterious girl falls on you from the left field" and the more 'smart' presentation the series has taken so far, based on first ep you can't even call it a comedy really (Really, the funniest thing about it probably was how laden with spies of various sorts the place is ... makes one wonder what they were all doing there in the first place, i find it unlikely that they knew where aliens would appear).
Like Klash already noted, i also found myself rather positively surprised by Eris - instead of an oblivious catgirl with little in terms of decency or common sense (yes, i admit, i was expecting something along those lines), we get a rather "normal" person, who shows she is rather well aware of her situation and circumstances, while remaining very open and friendly ... which is kinda the reason she went there in the first place. A honestly likable character indeed, and the male lead, while nothing special thus far, seems a fairly decent deal as well. Speaking of the former, i guess that is why the not-so-subtle SEELE reference organization isn't thrilled about it - i can imagine why someone obsessing over humanity's first contact with extraterrestrial life forms wouldn't be thrilled with going live about a cuddly catgirl as their discovery ... which rather likely puts them as (one of) the villains of the title. Aoi peaked my interest as well (she actually 'did' fool me with that shot for a moment ... i guess that messenger won't be making more jokes anytime soon) ...i suppose she is the first of the various organizations we will be dealing with, and probably the most likely one to become an ally of sorts, and from the looks of it she would make a powerful one indeed. Obviously, it is still premature to make a call how the show is going to turn out in terms of mood and presentation - it can still turn out as a non-serious comedy as well, but the first episode showed a lot of unexpected potential to be more than that.

Wow...I wasn't expecting this at all!
I was originally going to skip this series since it seemed like the usual service, nonsense romance harem mash but the first episode just blew all of that out of the water by providing some interesting hints to an actual plot (shock horror!). I really didn't expect stuff such as spies, agents, aliens, super sentai heros or whatnot and funnily enough it all sort of works together. I lol'ed and I hope it continues to be interesting

Bah! Manami and/or Kio not showing even hints of being interested in each other? Blasphemy! And here I was pumped up with Tomatsu voicing another osananajimi after Cross Game... T_T
Oh well, I guess Imma gonna watch the show for Aoi. Meganekko + long raven hair + Hanazawa + yandere tendencies = win! First for me hearing Hanazawa voicing a character who's a bit off kilter lol.

"what kind of osananajimi is that if she isn't showing any of the traditional traits? there's something strange here..." However of course i wasn't expecting her to be an assasin/spy/whatever with a room full of weapons =O Last edited by karuroso; 2010-07-13 at 17:05. |

I thought the massive over-reaction to hawt busty cosplayer showing up with her goods on display might have been a clue that she's just a wee bit jealous (although not as much as the teacher...). It looked a lot to me like playful (even flirty) teasing at his oji-san allowing some rumored girl to stay over, turning into a distressed "Holy crap, I was right!" once she actually saw her. That and it's pretty obvious that she spies on him regularly enough, since she knows where his porn stash is (and if you take the logical step to assume what she must have been spying on him doing at a time when he'd be accessing his porn stash, then...yeah...).

I like the basic premise here, that the aliens are not evil conquerors or benevolent saviors, but basically curious and playful. In fact, modern science implies that the human species' rapid evolution may have come from a sexual selection for playfulness (a selective force still active today, btw). A Russian project shows that breeding foxes for playfulness causes rapid evolution of other traits pleasing to humans. So a more advanced alien civilization is actually quite likely to be playful and curious.
Unfortunately, the first episode gave me a hellish vibe, what with the main character's friends betraying him immediately. This is the kind of thinking that lands you in the psych ward or a pool of blood. We don't really need a potentially cute show having this kind of sinister tone. |

Like many other wasn't quite what I expected, but it was good, and plan to watch more for sure. Eris is a pretty likable and normal character compared to most from this kind of genre .
Agreed, she was pretty badass already.

It's Okinawa. The place with 14 American military bases. Strategically important in terms of America's power projection in the area in relations to both China and the two Koreas. The spies are there because the Americans are there, and because the bases are there..

My opinion is that it is a parody of the anime catgirl. It is "wrong" for her to have 4 ears, but it's exactly the reason why she got away with walking around in public for a while. That's how people think she is wearing fake animal ears. Everything about her race is about gigantic galactic coincidences. One can argue that her shape is as plausible as any other alien form she could have taken.

Yup , typical harem/fanservice anime with a normal male lead and alien (Cat Girl who can speak the same language etc.... )
Graphic and animation are pretty nice . Dude that gun at the end was awesome Well , i'm not very enthusiasm as this is cliche but this is worth watching . Might try ep 2 . |

The word "parody" needs to stop being abused for anything that could be illogical or simply traditional in its genre. It's a very specific term with a very specific meaning, and the number of times I've seen it misused on this board is staggering.

I would say it's the "original cat girl".
BTW... she says she came from "Earth, and is called Earthlings" but that confuses as there are 2 Earth planets... so her race changed from Earthling to cathea. From what she said... her race started out as "humans" than evolved to have ears and tail. I sure want to see what the Telepatic Race is like tho... LOL (since they're the one controlling the Galaxy right now) Craziness is what I would describe this anime. Also... it seems they censors some fanservice scenes (with the white fogs/ bright lights)... (or is there non-censor out there?) And I donno why... but the guy reminded me of the guy from Please Teacher and the cat girl from... well, a whole bunch of ecchi animes... LOL... Last edited by chaos_animagic; 2010-07-13 at 19:06. |

It was a little unusual. But honestly I only really noticed it for one scene and just didn't pay attention to it so it didn't bother me. Either the human ones were fake (unlikely since if she wanted to fit in Eris would have hidden her tail and normal ears) or maybe just an unique evolution that gives her some really good hearing .
