My brain hurts. So Mashu may or may not be indeed Kimimaro's daughter. Strangely the 'father' looks old in the scene. Really, really old yet still has young Kimimaro's voice. It might be Kimimaro or it might be his father or even someone else altogether. Things are not as obvious as they seem and I'm sure there is plenty of mindblowing yet to be had.

Some even suspect that Kimimaro and Mashu may be the same being, and that they somehow got split when his father went bankrupt. If not his daughter it would certainly explain their resemblance.
The ending seems to hint at them becoming one, which might actually be meant literally.

I still don't think Hanabi is the mother. The woman in the scene neither sounded or looked like her at all. And her internal monologue implies that she has no real interest in him.

Kimimaro? He’s a classmate from back in highschool. Even back then he was already boring.
Girlfriend? *snort* Of course he doesn’t have one. It’s like, he’s so stiff sometimes, no fun at all.
His face is not bad, so every now and then he gets girls confessing to him, but he always rejects them.
“I can’t go out with somebody I don’t really like”, he says.
I told him “it’s not like you’re marrying them”, you know?
But he doesn’t listen.
So even now he’s never had a girlfriend.

Oh, he’s a good guy, and we get along, but it’s not like that.
Even though we’re the same age, he feels like a little brother.
Just looking at him I end up wanting to take care of him.
It’s because of his nature, definitely.
But really, he’s lived a rough life. Although in these times, it’s no surprise.
Sometimes I also sometimes feel really insecure, but I really don’t want to be discouraged, so I’m working my hardest for the Teacher Competency Test.
I love children, so I feel this is the only thing for me, but…
But recently it’s been a little strange, hasn’t it.
Sometimes I start thinking about a lot of things and just space off.
When I come to, it’s been like two hours.
My head understands, but my feelings just refuse to go along.
I’m hopeless, aren’t I?

I have to do my best too.

Everything is going to hell and now even Cthulhu appears! It has been a while since a show had me whining like a puppy in anticipation for the next episode.

Things were happening way too fast.. All of the sudden SEA FD is falling apart. Then Kimimaro started to doubt the things the way they are and took actions (finally lol).

Next we got a hint of who Msyu might possibly be. Could be his sister who vanished due to his dad losing before or his daughter in the near future. Since Asset comes from your future, I'm leaning towards the daughter. The ending animation seems to support it with the whole sperm/egg stuff.. like your child is actually a part of you, soul etc.

Then Hanabi seems distorted but the school kids didn't really disappear in the photo unless I missed it. Midas money's effect? Like how the rest of the people were restless.

I totally loved this episode although I will admit that it was indeed too fast paced and there were noticeable jerky jumps. But I guess that kinda adds to the effect of the anime. Everything is happening too fast and nobody really knows the full picture.

I don't think Msyu is Kimimaro's daughter. I am actually very interested in the idea that Kimimaro and Msyu were/are the same being. And now that I think about it, they do look similar o.0

Anyway, RIP Singapore. :S

Holy crap, whole countries disappear if a Financial district goes bankrupt. Seeing Masakaki's delight at the end, it seems like this is exactly what he intended to happen. Is this all a scheme from hell to get rid of humans?

The trippy scene hinting at Msyu's identity was very confusing. The dad had Kimimaro's voice, but it might have been his far. In that case, that would make Msyu Kimimaro's lost sister (another similarity with Mikuni). Another point of interest is that Kimimaro's dad apparently had Msyu as an asset too. The idea that Kimimaro is actually his dad (reincarnated or whatever) crossed my mind, but I don't see how that could have happened.

What the hell is up Hanabi? It looks like she's gone off the deep end...

Things are certainly happening, but a little too quickly for my tastes. This seems to be a recurring theme with NoitaminA - in any given season one show will have a game plan for the 11-episode format that really works, and another will end up screaming along at breakneck speed trying to get everything in - and usually failing. I'd make Kuragehime an exception in the latter category - while it was certainly rushed, I thought the ending managed to make a silk purse out of that sow's ear. This season AnoHana is cruising along with flawless pacing, while C seems to be barreling off the tracks at a dangerous speed.

This is really starting to look like a pretty good idea with terminally flawed execution, unfortunately. The major conceit of the plot is a fascinating one, but the whole thing has never really been laid out comprehensibly enough to set up a satisfying finish in three more eps. The series is better when it focuses on the human side of the issue - especially as it applies to Kimimaro's relationship with Mashu. But that was wholly absent this week, and the episode suffered for it. And it's hard to see how it can possibly be the focus of the last arc with so much loose plot flying around everywhere. I remain impressed by the imagination that went into C, but I'm not terribly hopeful for a satisfying conclusion.

Pretty much wholly in agreement with this. Kind of wishing I had chosen AnoHana instead of this show to follow now. If only I hadn't been scared off of slice of life shows due to them all turning into moe comedies of late. From everything that everyones telling me and from watching 5 minutes or so at Anime North it looks quite balanced though. Oh well, maybe someday.

Anyway might as well see this through to the end. I'm sure they can salvage something in the nexrt 3 episodes if they don't try to do too much. Show still has some good points.

Well... the latest episode of AnoHana literally had me squirming in my seat from an overdose of maudlin drama and soppy sentimentalism ripped right out of live-action Taiwanese/South Korean soap operas. I can't stand such stories in live action and like them even less in animated form. So, I'm tempted to say it's no loss, you not having chosen to follow AnoHana but, then, I also realised that I don't understand that show's appeal the same way many people just can't fathom Justin Bieber's appeal with hormone-addled teenage girls. I'm not among AnoHana's target audience, that's all.

That aside, I thought this episode of [C] was pretty good overall. None of the unfolding catastrophe surprised me, as I had been expecting the dominoes to fall, disastrously so, ever since I noticed a while ago how the devil's deal worked, in relation to the immense risk that Mikuni was taking with Japan's prospects while playing god.

Granted, the execution has been far from perfect, and the pacing could possibly have been a lot tighter. I especially dislike how the production committee decided to launch the "character monologues" on the official website instead of incorporating such important aspects of character motivation into the actual story. If this is meant to be an experiment in multi-platform storytelling (here's my bet : there's quite likely to be a video-game version of [C] in the works; the producers just haven't announced it yet), then it's not working very well, not least because I wouldn't have noticed the monologues had I not been reading the forums.

As for the actual mechanism that triggered the fall, consider this: Think of the Financial District as a casino. That being the case, it's worth remembering that the House always wins. When it comes to gambling, there is no such thing as a "win-win" scenario. Despite what Mikuni would like Kimimaro to think, all Deals in the Financial District are designed to be zero-sum games.

We've already been shown that it doesn't take bankruptcy for an entre to suffer ill effects from losing a deal. That effectively means Kimimaro's attempt to avert such consequences was already doomed from the start, because even if he should win by a small margin, he would still cause some kind of irreparable damage to his defeated opponent.

The Star Guild's central conceit comes from its belief that it can limit or contain this damage. Since we're dealing with biblical/mystical imagery, I think we don't need to be reminded that pride always comes before the fall.

Still, perhaps Plan [C] worked. After all, I'm still around, typing this message. Contrary to events, I, a proud Singaporean, haven't been raptured yet.

That said, I do hope it's a coincidence that Ep8 aired on the same day that Wall Street suffered its worst one-day fall this year, on the back of poorer-than-expected United States jobs data. The future, in the real world, isn't looking particularly bright at the moment...

Hmm, creepy coincence. Ah well... Things haven't hit rock bottom yet, and even if things do hit the rock bottom, you can always recover from that, sooner or later, even if harsh times will follow (which may well be the message C is trying to convey - that there's always hope in the future)...

eps 8 was a bit wtf... seriously did chulthula just descend and eat the FD when it went bankrupt? admittedly i'm quite curious where it's going or how it'll resolve but they definitely increased the pace of the show a bit to fast.

It just says that he's an employee of the Midas bank in the South East Asian district, and that his connection with the Far East District's Masakaki is unknown.

Also interesting to note that the total assets of the Far East District have started to fall as well. I wonder if that's what Kimimaro noticed at the end of last episode? (Although I wouldn't plug him as being that observant, personally...)

The Sephiroth shows the total number of Asset stocks. Each entre has 10 stocks of their Assest that they can sell.
Kimimoro sold one of it to Mikuni, so he has only 9 Sephira left. Those who never sold stock has all 10 Spehiras.

Also, if you obtain all stocks from another entre, you can take over their Asset. Also if you drive an entre with 10 stocks of an Asset into bankruptcy, you can take over that Asset immediately.


Also, the C occurs if all the future possibility in a Financial Street controlled territory has been converted to Midas Money.
In other words, if the Midas Bank has sucked all the future possibility away, that territory will outlive its usefulness and goes poof.
