Lol national holiday for SC2 realease. BTW i had no idea that SC: Ghost took place when SC2 is suppposed to take place.
I have a question for those of you who know.
Who was supposed to be the lead character in SC: Ghost? The blonde?
Or is it just a random freelancer ghost making ends meet.
I head it was going to be an RPG.

EDIT : I forgot to mention..... SWEET!!! PROTOSS MOTHERSHIP!!! AWSOME Finnally they can kick ass!!!

It was supposed to be a first/third person shooter, and the blonde ghost was the main character. Her name was Nova, if I remember correctly.

Nova of Nova Squadron to be exact I believe. She had all that cool in-testing stuff Nova Squadron has... Like that Cy-Blade or somethin'.

It looked cool but after a looooooong delay Blizzard announced the project was scrapped.

I bet Starcraft: Ghost is somehow integrated with this rumored "Starcraft Online" thing going on.

Ghost was never axed, Blizzard just chucked it on 'indefinite hold'.

Ugh, most important question, "Will heroes and items be possible" is ignored.

I'm pretty sure that question has been answered rather early on, I'm just too lazy to dig out specifically where.

I do recall they have said that heroes-with-experience do exist. They will only be available in use map settings games. They won't be there for single player or any non use map setting games. Also, if I recall correctly, the heroes and their abilities can be customized depending on the map creator. Unfortunately, I don't know about items, but seeing the popularity DotA and how much blizzard probably wants to keep that going for SC2 as well, it's likely items are there too.

Mod-ers can make your Wc3 clone. Official heroes will be no better then Sc1 heroes, not anything close to make or break units of Wc3. (hopefully)

We're talking about the map editor here. I really can't see why you'd want to limit anything in the map editor. It's not like it'll affect the gameplay, it just lets people mess around more. Personally, I'm sure I spent at least half my starcraft gametime playing people's crazy user-made maps. Like, fireworks shows where they spawn and kill masses of units to create pretty images out of their death animations, and of course all the various madness maps and rpg things and tower defense and whatnot. Why limit people's creativity? If you don't like it then don't play those maps...

The new map editor sure looks tasty.

As an old SC mapper, I am excited to try out the Staredit 2.

Oh god, mapping for the old SC was a pain in the ass >.< Especially with bridges

I hope the editor would be something similar to the WC3 editor though, just because it wasn't a map editor that was divided into blocks.

*Ultralisk Rawr!*

Somehow it looks like Tidehunter's long lost cousin... well to me at least, WC3 and Dota players should know what I'm taking about lol =P

And as for heroes and items in Starcraft 2:

Chat with Devs: One of the most popular questions we get when it comes to creating UMS (User Map Settings) games or mods is: Will there be a DotA for StarCraft II? For those who are not familiar, DotA (Defense of the Ancients), is a popular UMS game created for Warcraft III. StarCraft compared to Warcraft III, does not focus on heroes as much, and heroes or units do not have the same experience gaining mechanic as Warcraft III, making it difficult to imagine how a game like DotA could be reproduced for StarCraft. Nonetheless, after chatting it up with our devs, we found out the ability to allow heroes and units to gain experience is built into the Map Editor, though it will not likely be in single player or standard multiplayer. In addition, those units can also be toggled to have the ability to carry an inventory, which is also a characteristic needed in UMS maps such as DotA. With those two additions, we can rest assured that our clever community modders can handle the rest in creating some awesome custom games.
