I'll agree with that, I'd even say the direction style is pretty much anti j-drama.

Though it does remind me of japanese movies such as Tokyo Sonata.

I've been saying for a while that ep 1 was directed and paced like a movie. To me that was what sealed the deal. It creates a very intriguing effect, strange and familiar at the same time. Actually, it could lead to interesting things, because it's still animation and it can do things you can't do in a movie (such as the classroom disappearing during Kasuga's "Beauty" monologue, or the titular flower).

Maybe it's just my twisted taste but there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of them. Most people are not models and idols.

Yeah, I think the two girls are pretty. though on that note, I think Kasuga's actor actually is model material

INo, kuromitsu sempai, you aren't twisted... People just have different taste...

Any, they could at least make them prettier... but doesn't mean they have to be with big eyes and moe like the usual anime...

Doesn't bother me, and I like it. In our land, we have too many mestizas onscreen, some of them who are even out of place in, say, a slum setting.

Just like one of the respondents said, "Shoryuken!"
Otaku doing what they do best. Making themselves look worse after an outrageous incident. It was enough to simply not purchase this, but trolling like this is going too far.
Dick move on their part indeed.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of what they are trying to achieve?
The characters still look pretty when they need to be (the girl with the long hair). They just don't look pretty when they don't need to be.

Of course it'll be at the bottom of any "stalker" list at this moment, but the actual figures could spell out how well-received or much-reviled the show could be.

Japanese anime consumers are want to take whatever abuse is thrown at them but even they must have their limits.

Hence the reason why I used the word cheap.
True, but then you would have to accuse a lot of anime for doing the same thing. Many anime OP/ED themes are basically ripped from whatever Top 40 list is happening at the time. It's like cross-promotion.

Evangelion did the same with Bart Howard's 'Fly Me to the Moon' in 1995.

More recently JoJo's Bizzarre Adventure has done the same with Yes' 'Roundabout' (and to its credit suits the anime very well).

They will probably be pitifully low. It's a fact that niche/mature/non-moe anime series like this don't sell at all.

The fact that people like Masaaki Yuasa can't get a TV series greenlighted anymore and are forced to resort to Kickstarter should give you an idea of how well-received by the average anime viewer this kind of series are.

I dunno, how is this in any way similar to Endless Eight?

Also, how is this an "abuse"?

To paraphrase; "anyone who didn't like this was only in it to whack off to Nakamura."

Do you want me to pull up that interview? I can do this all day.

So they used the actual VAs as the models for the characters......yet they don't look like their real life counterparts.
