Haven't watched this episode yet but it's great to hear Claus and Lavie are back again. I missed them so much. It certainly brings back memories from the first season.
I am so desperate to watch this episode, ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!! PS: Cloud Age Symphony and Over The Sky in this episode? Hell yeah, they are both epic songs.

The recap episode, "Second Adjournment", brought a tear to my eyes. The implication of the ending scene with Claus and Lavie, and the final scene of the episode with Dio's determination to live up to his promise to Claus to protect Alvis, made me very sad.
Not surprised though from the way that Dio being so serious on his promise to Claus which shows how much Dio values the trust that Claus placed on him and probably Dio considers Claus his closest friend now after Luciola. Love the return of "Cloud Age Symphony" and "Over The Sky" even it's only for just this episode. When compared to what is offered in Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam, the original's OP and ED are so much better. |

I don't have my vids of the original on hand to compare, but if memory serves me right this episode uses footage of the original for the recaps. In any case, watching the original OP reminds me how bloody great the original looked for its time, and even now it still looks great.
Spoiler for Spoilers:
Listening to the soundtrack and rewatching the core events brought back a lot of fond memories, and maybe a few tears to me eyes. It's probably a bit too compacted and chopped up to be a good primer for new viewers, but for the rest of us who watched it before, it's pure fanservice down memory lane. Lucciola's final scenes were still painful after all these years to watch. Seeing Claus and Lavie finally achieving what their parents had in their childhood was still a thrill to watch, as was Alex's final moments. The final episodes of the original were probably some of the most emotionally intense finales I've ever seen. This is one of the very few times where I loved every minute of a recap episode. The only downside of the episode is that... well... another reminder that this season has a very high pedigree to live up to.

Next episode title is Automaton. Which might refer to this automaton chess player.
This recap raise a lot of questions too. |

Well, since some of the initial euphoria felt from what we saw at the end of the episode has settled in, it's about time for some thoughts.
a. GUILD STARFISH! These aren't the dinky vanship hybrids that we've seen Ades fielding, which makes me REALLY wonder about where they've been all this time? Are they a new discovery by Alauda and co? Or is it that the Earth Guild is finally playing its hand? b. Claus' injuries seem to have been conveniently set up so that he would be unable to re-enter the story, which means that he won't be able to one-up Fam. Because honestly he'd probably fly circles around our young Sky Pirate. SEED Destiny-style show takeover avoided, for now.
