Wohoo! Young Hoho! It was an awesome episode, explaining the Xerxes backstory and everything. I really liked the Roy/Riza code scene, too, I was looking forward to that I found this episode a lot more interesting than the previous one, even as a manga reader... I just thought that Homunculus's voice was kinda odd. It sounded like a woman or something.

I agree, it sounded like a little girl lol. But this was a good episode, it was cool to finally see that part of the manga animated and to see young Hoho! Ed's a lot like him whether he likes it or not.

The Roy/Riza code scene had to be my favorite part, when I first read it in the manga and they were talking about all their old friends I had no idea what the point was or what was going on, I just think it was a neat way for Riza to tell Roy about Selim.

I am pleasently surprised they didn't have Romi Paku voice young Hohenheim. Japan always tends to think father and son have the exact same voice as kids, which just strikes me as dumb more often than not.

Yep. Will never understand why they put him in the first one (yet not in this one).

Anyways, watched the episode now, and it was good but not as good as it could have been. Unfortunately they cut young Hohenheim teaching his fellow slaves which was one of my favorite parts of the flashback.

Also, if you thought the reused BGM couldn't get any worse, they even used the same track twice in this episode. And a sucky track too (IMO).

And good god, what was up with the eyecatch guy? Slave 23 gets a badass image yet the "Fullmetal Alchemist!" was the... "cute" one used for Scheska and Elicia's. That made no sense whatsoever.

I just realized that the anime fixed the engrish 'Selim Bladley' part in the manga... Well Bones did a good job for this episode, pretty satisfied ^^

Wait, who was the VA for young Hohenheim?

To make people go "So that's who it was in the first OP". Putting unknown characters into an early OP isn't a spoiler in itself and can often serve to generate discussion about who that person is and what his role will be.

It's one good episode, I was glued to the screen.

Wow! This episode exceeded my expectations, as a manga reader I find this one a very good adaptation.

I thought the Xerxes flashback should take a full episode, but they made it fit perfectly into this episode

This episode was a bit of a surprise. I really didn't like the last 8 episodes (32-39), and then this one was incredibly entertaining.

The big question is how they're going to manage to squeeze the rest of the plot into 10 episodes. My count has at least 14 episodes needed to finish the rest of the series off.

Well seeing as though there's no official episode count yet, you have nothing to worry about.

& i easily say more then 14 episodes, i mean the manga hasn't even finished yet (i still say both ending on the same week would be awesome though).

Holy crap that's some background they gave for this one. Finally understand what went down back then and got Hoenheim's story. Damn no wonder he's a bit of a strange guy. I can't begin to imagine the trauma of being part of the massacre of your entire nation and having the souls of half a country locked away inside.

Also liked that scene with Roy and Riza. Obviously can't talk openly at all considering the situation, but she still managed to convey very important information. Another enemy has been revealed and they will have to plan their moves even more carefully.

I also thought the Xerxes flashback would take a full episode, but they were done with it very quickly. I was a bit surprised that they even cut out some scenes from the manga. I liked the talk Homunculus and Honenheim had after he became an alchemist. Oh well, it was still a very good episode.

Well, we've covered 76 episodes in 40 episodes, an average of 1.9. At least, I think it's 76. Not sure where chapter 76 belongs.

If it's 105 chapters of manga total, then that's 29 chapters left to cover. At the present rate, that's 15.2 total episodes extra. But it seems that the later books have a lot more content, so maybe they could stretch it out to 23 episodes and have this show go 63 episodes?
