Ritsu's "remember auxilliary verbs" just had me laughing.....her style is like those GAR types of 1980s mecha anime!
Azunyan's "I want to hear about it too!" look is just.....so.......CUTE!!!! Obviously Mugvision™ is at work again......Ritsu's "Come to my house and I'll train you well!" And Mugi's the only one that put her hands on her face in total approval and interest about Mio and Ritsu's longtime relationship. As usual, Azunyan always thinks of the worse case scenarios.....

Nice subtle thread going on during this episode ... Mugi was hanging on every word about childhood friends. Implication: Mugi's "princess of the clan" experience was very lonely.
Azunyan is turning into a regular H.L.Mencken with her caustic observations Ritsu's VA really got to stretch out with all the comedic dialog delivery. Yui may need institutional care --- she's tragic I think Sawa-chan did them a disservice by nixing Ritsu and Yui's "musician" choice. Its really what both of them live for. Was kind of hoping we'd hear the "how Mio got into music" story... perhaps later. Directing/storyboarding: Stringing the sequences together in this episode was a little awkward but they managed.

I explained why in a later post. As for the episode, it had a lot of good points. Nice to see that we learn more on the turtle symbolism that has been running through this show since the very first episode. I like how they kept Mio's "You're like a mommy" line, and the flashbacks were a feast for the eye. And I think you can pretty much say that Mio owes her life to Ritsu. Without her, she wouldn't have come this far.

Mio: Pink, plushies, frills -- polar opposite to overalls, dirt, boom, and flash Ritsu. They're going to be kind of lost without each other if their trails separate.

Placing bets that Mugi will keep suggesting the "all girl" university she plans to attend .. and that her family has a deathgrip on the admissions process so Mugi can "suggest" accepting her friends (not that Mio would need the help...).

Mugi even chose the all girl college/Uni.
Also it is kinda ironic that we "English" speakers support Yui and Ritsu yet they seems to "hate" us Oh, I also like to do that thing that Yui was doing with pillow while talking to Ui. But I prefer to use ball... all books when studying I memorize and think better that way

Not quite as funny or musical as other episodes but still interesting to watch.
Are we sure Mugi isn't some kind of clone or robot? We never see anything about her youth, and her fasination with things seems like she was almost "born yesterday".

Heh, its a very universal and lazy human response to resort to "nationalism" when faced with something challenging from outside. Americans do it all the time as well.

I really liked this episode. I found all of the backstories really cute, and It really gave some insight to the characters, especially Nodoka. I also liked the comedy with Yui trying to fill out her form. Overall, a great episode that gave us a look into most of the casts' childhoods. There was also some great comedy to boot.
BTW, Azu-nyan's "Please tell me" look was so damn cute. For the first time this season, I give this episode a 10/10. |
