The Steampunk Series (though it might be kinda hard since they rely so much on the writing itself and the fabulous art).
The Muvluv Trilogy. And Sharin and G-Senjou (though both of these features elements which are really ill fit for anime).

Especially the one concerning Tesla... That's exactly what I mean. Take what you need meaning minimal. Follow the main route all the way to the "Graduation." Actually you'd only need to use the Aya route IIRC other than the main one.

Eventhough i mentioned something about it a few months in the eroge thread when i gave my impressions of it, the manga as a standalone was rather mediocre if you have not played/read the game. Just like the mashifony manga's that told Yutsuki's and Sana's routes.
And Quote:
While Nozomu's, Shirokuma's and Yoru's routes are not entirely essential for the true route unlike certain eroges Spoiler for examples:

That's to be expected when changing from game to anime medium no? Like the aforementioned Steampunk, which would honestly fare better as a game. The only reason why fans want anime adaptation is to act as advertising for the game and more profits for the company.
I have yet to see any anime adaptation for an eroge that can be considered as excellent grade. Closest was Ef and that's it

Even some of the commercially succesfull ones like Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night are in some fans pretty much failures when it comes to the original. Or more recently just look at how people are reacting to this season's Little busters so far. Eventhough when not looking at purely eroges but at VN's overall, Steis;Gate has somewhat succeeded to be called excellent. |

Depends what you mean by failed though. I consider Ef a major success, Koi Senkyo enjoyable, Fortune Arterial (which outright failed in many's eyes) a disservice to the game but decent enough to watch still etc.
Why do you set your expectations so high when you know game to anime will inevitably lose some of the feel along the way. I rather judge the success as...Did the company profit? Did your favorite writers gain credit and go on to write more games in success? Were more games created as a result? What vocal fans may say is just ultimately noise compared to actual impact on the games and writers themselves

The mashifony and koichoco anime only succeeded marginally when it comes to the sales of the psp game but for the disc sales it was below average. Eventhough i am not sure how much the Koichoco anime impacted on the sales of ImaImo VN of this month. Also depends, if the vocal fans don't buy the anime discs due to their dissastisfaction then it has impact. |

That's why FA anime is considered failure in that aspect. But not to the point where detractors would have you believe (IE, unwatchable...like Itsuten anime)
When you can break even in game sales for Koi Chocco and the like, it's considered quite good already, considering Koi Chocco's game ranking originally....it's no White Album 2 or Masada game. So if you see increase in game sales more than average after the anime, I'd say that's a decent showing already. Quote:

I am not entirely sure if you can call Koichoco a succes (not even a mildly one) because it was heavily marketed by Dengeki and even despite all of that, both the game and disc sales are onpar or lower than the less marketed Mashiro iro Symphony one year ago.
Also it's not just about the old fans but the newly attracted audience as well. The point of an anime is to attract more people, but if the adaptation ends up being mediocre or worse then it will be faster forgotten than a random LN adaptation (which are more common these days). |

I've got a couple for you. Admittedly I am a Mac user and cannot run roughly 99 percent of VNs, and thus had to watch these on Youtube (without the sex scenes, but IMO in these two case they seemed unnecessary. Unlike some people, I was watching for the plot, not the porn!).
Saya No Uta: This one has already been mentioned, and I agree 100 percent. In my opinion, the anime should follow the route that has the closest thing to a good end... Spoiler for major Saya No Uta spoilers:
Kara No Shoujo: I've heard there was a hentai OVA, but in my opinion, that does not count. I'm talking a full TV anime series focusing on the whole murder mystery plot. Plus, the postwar setting and adult male protagonist (even if there are a number of schoolgirls present) would make a nice change from the usual anime conventions. Also, I think Tsuzuriko/Tojiko in and of herself is enough of a reason to animate this. Anyone who has played or watched or read or whatever you do with a VN will know what I mean. |

Planetarian is so damn depressing. It would take no more than 4 OVAs I think to tell the whole story.
These are really great choices, especially G Senjou no Maou. Oh god... If there's a Deardrops anime, I'm going to have a really hard time. I literally fell in love with Kanade. I had to load up the game every day just so I could see her and maintain my sanity. Took awhile to break free. Give me a dose of Kosame every episode and I'll be happy. -------------- My Choices (in addition to the quotes): Daibanchou! Big Bang Age Marguerite Sphere (story is bleh, but the characters are quite likeable ) Sorairo Stellar Theater (can barely remember this, but I remember liking the characters ) |
