Several of mine shipped, but the majority of the list was placed on "backorder"... which I thought should have been avoided since everything I ordered had mass quantities of product in stock...

That's a great set if you are into the high drama animes. Though I would've changed Trigun (which is mostly comedy) with something like Tsukihime.

25 DVDs for $100 isn't a deal to you?

$4 a disc?

What would be a deal to you?

Personally I loved the sale, I finished Daphne and got the entirety of:

Last Exile
Gad Guard
Haibane Renmei
and Tsukihime

all at once, along with Patlabor WXIII (which had too little patlabor.)

Animes $4.99 in Canada!!

Hey peoples, I know this post wont help everyone, but my fellow Canadian fans should be interested to know that there is some anime available for 4.99. I was going through a 4.99 bin at Zellers and found a bunch.

Mini Goddess Volume 4,
Yu-Gi-Oh Volume 10,
Boys over Flowers (don't remember what the volume number was and it's too far away to check... Laaaazyyynessss)
Medabot volume 1.
Yu-Gi-Oh Battle City 1 and 2
Tenchi Muyou GX(dont remember what volume again),
Gasaraki(Same as previous),
Soul Hunter(same as previous previous)

All 4.99, all a fairly larger sum to buy online O.o.. Especially the minigoddess when I was checking. So if you live near a zellers I would check things out in those sale bins that have all those cheap movies we wouldn't watch anymore(well I shouldn't say that since there were a few other good movies in there like a Narnia Documentary) I know it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside

ADV Sale 25 for 100

Since we should not discuss the sale on the 'Where to buy' thread, here is a post for the sale to keep those aware and for those who don't read the 'Where to buy' thread.

Just like Last Years Geneon sale, Rightstuf has an ADV sale!
10 for 50
25 for 100.

Kudos to Xellos for getting a hold of FMP1 Artbox (/cry for me who missed it).

Now that my wallet is lighter, I'm waiting for a Funi and Bandai sale! hehe.

Thought I'd point out some stuff in case some people are sitting on the fence. Initially (yesterday) when I saw that the sale was going to be "select ADV" titles (select seems to mean pre-2006), I was going to pass on the sale. ADV is always really good at thinpacking their collections (most of these are already thinpacked), so I was thinking I wouldn't end up saving very much money.
However, after I thought about it for a little bit, I realized that I was very wrong. If you get the 25 DVD's, you're spending $4 a DVD, meaning a series like Chrono Crusade (7 DVDs) costs $28, as opposed to $50-something (at DVDPacific) for the thinpack. Also, as Forbin hinted above, the DVD+Artbox sets are also in the sale - I was able to get box+complete discs for Kino's Journeys, and Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. I managed to get all of Chrono Crusade (plus the box) except volume 2, and I managed to get all of Excel Saga and Elfen Lied (but no boxes for either).
Just thought I'd point it out in case anyone was thinking like me. While it's not as great a sale as it would have been if it was, say, Funimation (who never thinpacks anything and only occasionally offers complete sets), it's still quite a deal.

I missed last year's Geneon sale (it happened right when I was broke). I'm hoping the next sale is Funimation, though I'd like it to happen next year so that the selected items will include last year's releases (yes, I'm a greedy bastard).

There is also a catch. ADV removes the extras from the thinpaks. If you do not mind this, then the thinpaks may be cheaper. Your math is right, but it depends on the series. For some series, this is NOT a sale. The price is the same or more expensive than the thinpaks. If you don't mind the lack of extras, the thinpaks might be the way to go. This is deal but not a great one. (Angelic layer comes to mind where the thinpak is going for ~$28.)

Personally i never care for the extras that much. It is packaging I am more concering about. It is the reason i bought the Divergence Eve thin pack and not the 3 singles. The rpice was about the same but the thin pack had a box.

ADV only started doing this recently (Chrono Crusade was the first one, I believe) - so some of these series would actually have all the special features in the thinpack. Personally I generally don't care about the special features, I generally prefer thinpacks because I only have so much shelf space and thinpacks leave more of that space open for other stuff, but I'm not turning away a better deal to keep them, and your point is still very valid. A lot of those series have thinpacks where the special features have been removed.
And you're correct, some of them would be cheaper in thinpack (the one I was thinking of when i wrote the post was Rune Soldier, which has seven discs and the thinpack is approx $28). I didn't mention that on purpose though because I think it only works out that way for a small number of series. For reference, the more likely lack of a deal is when you're buying something like Elfen Lied - the thinpack is approximately $25 and the four discs add up to be $20. However, for some things (every volume of Gatchaman was up there last I saw) it's a great deal. So it really depends (which is, I think, what we're both saying).

I just meant for people not to automatically dismiss it because it was ADV. There are some pretty good deals in there.

EDIT: Also, thanks to whichever mod moved this. I knew this thread existed somewhere yesterday (when I made my order I wanted to put it up so other people would know about it), but I couldn't find it and didn't have time to do an in-depth search.

I posted this in the Haruhi Suzumiya forum on 2/26, but I'll also post it here:

There might be even better deals out there once the solicitations make their way around the net, so those with good detective skills will find the best deals.

Even through the guy i spoke yesterday at Rightstuff said unlike last years Genon sale they won't be adding new items to the list. I just notice that they have added at least 2 new items vol6 of Godannar and vol3 of Loki.

Rightstuf is having another sale. Not as good as the last one but still a couple of good deals in there.
