Creativity? Pshhh, gimme wedding dress and *awww*-moments and I'm set. But, before I jump to my conclusions, I rather see how the show progresses. Especially the whole stony-cat curse and the - to me - 50-%-funnieness regarding the MC's honesty-curse/charm together with his "hentai side". As long as those aspects remain on a tolerable level, I'm more or less happy.

The main problem I had with this episode wasn't the content by any means (which I liked well enough), but rather the fact that they're moving way too fast for my preference. Each of the two halves of the story could easily have been a full episode on its own. It felt a bit disjointed to me as they leapt from one point to the next, and at times felt a little bit tough to follow.

That aside, like I said, the content itself I liked well enough, despite the pacing. Azusa is just a very self-conscious person who was easy to tease, and her old "friends" weren't really looking out for her because they couldn't get to know her very well. She got swallowed up in depression, and so ended up transferring schools and putting up a façade to keep people from getting too close. But that too is a rather painful, lonely, existence. I agree with the comment above that our protagonist's rejection was a bit blunt, but I think it's just supposed to emphasize that he can't put up a false image. In a way, knowing that side of him will make it easier for Azusa to get along with him going forward, since she can recognize the difference between when he's putting up a mask and when he isn't. So her still being interested in him even after the sky cleared isn't so surprising.

(But I sort of think the show risks being a bit less fun/funny now that he has his façade back already. We'll see what happens.)

And then we transition into Tsukiko's story. At first I wasn't sure whether the meetings at the park were dreams or something that really happened (due to the odd scene transitions), but it makes sense that it really happened. It explains a lot about why Tsukiko was so willing to trust him from the get-go; she already considered him a friend, but he didn't recognize her. (Which I guess isn't so surprising since he didn't recognize her in the first episode either -- is she that forgettable?

I guess it's more that he fills his mind with other junk...) The picture book she drew was obviously an attempt to jog his memory, but obviously didn't work either. I'm assuming, though, that by the time this whole arc is over, he'll probably remember (or be reminded, anyway).

Anyway, to be honest, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't allow the first half to fill the whole episode and really tie-up the first arc more cleanly, but I guess they must have a lot of content they want to cover in these 12 episodes, so we're moving forward full-speed ahead. We'll see what happens next.

Edit: When I watched the episode a second time, knowing where things were going, I got more used to the flow and the pieces fell together a bit more clearly. But yeah, you almost need two viewings to take it all in.

Um I was expecting Azusa's arc to take up the whole episode but it resolved within half of an episode? I don't know how it goes in the novel but it felt like it just went by way too quickly. Felt kind of like a disservice to her arc lol.

Going from episode's 2 ending, I expected Azuki's issues to be a lot more serious. Those two girls likely didn't want to bully her, it's just that she was that easy to tease (we all have a friend or two like that) and didn't know when to stop.
All's well when it ends well though. And she's pretty cute when she's not pretending to be some high class snob.

Unfortunately, her issues getting resolved also means our MC got his facade back, costing him major points in awesome. It was pretty refreshing to see a MC who spoke his mind - for example, I loved his rejection to Azuki's "what if" intention. All things considered, it wasn't really that harsh. It's just how he felt, and for once it's nice to see a male lead say "no" instead of stuttering and trying his best to sugar coat it.

So yes, I'll miss that side of him. It was fun and unusual to see a duo comprised of a guy who could only speak his mind and a girl who couldn't express any emotion.

Compare to Eren in Shingeki, I would say this Yuki Kaji voice is already not THAT irritating...

As far as the episode, not much comment on the story itself. Only opinion is that it's way too fast-paced. Yes, the story still makes sense, but quite frankly, they didn't have to throw in the Tsukiko stuff this episode...

I deemed that explanation to be BS, when she was tricked to go to one place (Hokkaido). If that's not bullying, then I don't know what is. If anyone ever does something like that to me, I'd be so pissed -- I'd exact some kind of vengeance! RAWR!

Anyways, the cut at the midway point of the episode -- that was way too abrupt, which had me asking: "Hey wait a minute. What's going on here?"

Eh, I didn't really feel the two girls had any sort of malicious intent. It sounded more like they were just joking with her, not expecting her to believe them at all, but she did. Of course, it didn't help that they didn't try to apologize and explain things to her after, but yeah.

Lol, Azusa got omochikaeri'ed. Well, not literally, but I kinda daww'd when she was being carried on his shoulder.

But most HHHNNNGGGGG parts were when Tsukiko was still in middle school. While not really osananajimi, the promise for him to figure out who is behind the mask is the closest thing I got. At least now we know where all the jealousy came from in the previous episode; apparently, she already has fallen in love with him in the past. XD

As for the MC, for being a big pervert, I actually like him more than 95% of the other harem leads out there. Like really, the way he handled each girls' situation puts even Kami from TWGOK to shame.

O__o What the hell i've just watched?
1. Kidnapping a girl
2. Playing around with a girl's belly button

Never thought there would be a male lead who can pull these acts while being harmless in the end.

Oh, and those two girls whom Yokodera met at the Cafe looked somewhat hot with their tanned skin (= 3 =)

Azusa's dere-dere side is lovely and I was reliefed that her bulllying issue wasn't very dark-ish as in other samples. Tsukiko did a nice advicing role during their nightly conversation. Still, I expected that the two girls would follow the MC's advice and apologize to her on screen, seeing that they are featured in the OP as well. Speaking of the OP: I didn't pay much attention to it during the first two episodes, but it seems that Tsukiko's nee-san will also be/become a main member? I wonder how she'd fit in the stony-cat sheme. Plus the OP hints at MCxTsukiko . When Azusa and MC were sitting in the taxi, I really thought at first it was a police car lol due to the color pattern of it. The short flashback of Tsukiko and MC was enjoyable, too. Obviously his good-hearted comment of finding her miles away has yet to come true . But, I'm not really surprised by it. Glad to see that he got his facade back, although his all-out honesty while telling Azusa that she's not the type to make his heart race was a bit harsh . For now, let's see how a) her "date" with the MC will turn out and b) what's the issue between Tsukiko and Steel Sister. __________________ Visual Novel Addict
