It's nearly impossible not to like this show, lol. It's one of the very few that I've seen Narut fans and Lain fans come together over (or any other similarly opposite fandoms). For me, it's double awesome cuz it's my favorite genre (dark humor) and my favorite director (Akiyuki Shinbo <3) Amazing how he can stay so true to the manga but be so experimental.

K'ching.... just watched episode 1. Yes, this show is full of win except that the use of The Face liberally splattered across the screen had me pulling my hair out. I figure at least half of them were unnecessary.
But otherwise, the thing is a marvelous little dark comedy. I could seriously see this as a live-action comedy as well Now to catch up.. wheee. It does make me wonder about Shinbo ... after handling Tsukuyomi Moon Phase, PPD, and Hidamari Sketch so well and respectfully -- he must have hated Negima (to be so untrue to it). But anyway, back to SZS.....

That really bothered me in the first epi but it becomes less and less as the epis progress so youll still have hair left over and not be our balding invisible friend from the class

I know this is not the place to discuss this, though i seriously see nothing wrong with Shinbo/Shaft's Negima adaptation. I mean, just from hearing the news about Shinbo doing his own version of Negima, it was a given that it wasn't going to be anything us manga readers wanted in terms of a worthy adaptation. It was wacky Shinbo fun from start to finish (with a lovely dark couple of first episodes), and i loved it.

So you love a suicidal guy? Good luck.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cu6FQnFC44 This is also a very nice clip. I like the BGM, though you may think you are watching a completely different anime, a romance, rather than a story about despair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmWBWvjzvw8 This clip reminds me of "the shining" parody, where some guy made an advertisement for "the shining" as a family-friendly show while in reality, it is a horror movie.

Probably I'll not watch more if I can't find any version without the ugly RL faces. I downloaded few DVD versions, for example [-_-'] Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - 01 [DVD a.f.k.subs 704x480 x264 AAC], but couldn't find any completely "uncensored" so far. Apparently there are 2 versions of each episode on DVD. Could anyone please confirm that the "uncensored" version still contains the ugly guy's faces that just slowly fly away uncovering the ecchi parts (shirohamada's version), and the only other version is the TV one? Or is there a version that has no ugly RL faces at all? ( I guess all versions contain these faces ;_; ...which means I'll probably skip this otherwise very nice show ;_; )
