Let me see... I should be posting the grand finale of Magical Cinderella today. After that, I see if I can resume my works on my Erio/Cinque/Nove scenario & Diary of a Wind Talker's onsen (hot spring) episode. Then I'll review any works I have to continue, including the prologue for the Gale Sisters Saga.

A little bit of her story(summary): Artificial mage. a Doctor (not scalatti or how ever you spell it)Saw Caro when she was young and thought she was the perfect child for him so he got her DNA(still thinking how he got it) And tried to make a copy and made "Miharu". Miharu lived with the Doctor for a year but he went crazy and killed himself. He told Miharu to look for her Onee-chan before he died. (he also gave the same powers to Miharu as Caro and made a clone of freid) Miharu been looking for her Onee-chan about year with her Dragon Creidche(k-rii-dche) also know as Reii(Rii). Now she wonders the streets with no food or money. She found a lab and hid there. She always saw scienctist walking around creating something intill the TSAB came to stop them but they wouldn't so they had to fight forcefully (And guess who went to shut them down?!) Caro!! Caro saw Miharu knocked out in the lab. Caro saved her to her to the hospital. And Miharu awakens...

o_O nice!!! Did you take up my suggestion on a sister for Caro? or was it just a coincidence well putting that aside...

Character:
Basically it's fine but the name of the dragon, is kinda too similar but since she's a clone of Caro, I'm ok with it. As for the doctor suiciding part, it kinda feels cliche that he was killed to get out of the picture, since he's a scientist, maybe you could make it that he died while searching for something e.g. lost logia, at least it sounds more logical and is the dragon an artifical dragon?

Cause for something like dragon summoner, it's a tribe heritage(ep 3 or 4) if i remember where something was mentioned about how Caro's tribe treated her like an exile or something but still, it's your character, you don't have to shape it the way we want it to be but taking a few suggestions from us will be good ^^

Last but not least, since it's after StrikerS, it's safe to assume that it's an AU right? Cause if you're in StrikerS, you'd better prepare an Anti-Harem shield *looks at Kha*

Yes, everyone, this marks the end of our very own stage presentation that is Magical Girl Lyrical Cinderella. I am not sure if I should write another humor/parody Nanoha fanfic, because right now I have other stories to take care of (A's Combat being one of them).

Weary, we trudged through the doors. We were strung out in a line each of us supporting one another. Vita, the reason behind our defeat walked in front of us, chatting with Shari who had been in control of the drones and Takamachi Nanoha, the Ace of Aces, one of a number of respected individuals within the organisation. At the end of our line walked the boy Erio supported by Caro who was in turn supported by Iza. Tuala leant on my right shoulder, obviously more exhausted than I had thought. I felt a twinge of guilt for forcing her to carry Erio during the exercise. ‘I’ll talk to her later on and see if she wants anything.’

Her suggestion to use Erio as a hostage had nearly worked but still sat ill on my conscience. This stain on my morals had grown darker as we wrapped up and we had a chance to talk to our opponents in person. It surprised us to discover that the pair were only 12/13 and that the other two Subaru and Teana were only a little older at 16/17. Even though I’ve been with the TSAB for nearly 2 years now, it is still weird to see children in the line of fire, regardless of their ability.

At the far end of the room, all of the officers who had been present at the start of the exercise were waiting. Nudging Tuala gently, I cleared my throat. The others looked at me as I did before following my gaze. Together we straightened, heads up facing the group.

The shortest among the group stepped forward, short brown hair framing her face. “At ease,” she said, her voice, though soft held an air of experience. “No need to be so formal, especially after nearly three hours out there. As the commanding officer, I’d like to welcome you all to Mobile Division 6. I trust that our facilities met your standards.” She was the same person who had addressed us this morning, just before we started. Something about her was familiar and I struggled to remember where I had seen her before.

“Now if you would follow me, refreshments are available in the adjoining room, where we will go over the exercise,” pointing to her left at a small door. As with the rest of the buildings in the complex, the room showed little sign of use, chairs stacked neatly to one side, mountains of salad and pasta heaped upon a table opposite. The weight pressing against me disappeared as the forwards moved towards the food, Subaru, Teana and Erio each picking up a huge bowl each, filling them with completely before heading towards the tables. Caro waved at us from another, where she was gathering the cutlery. “Could you help me with the plates?” she asked.

“Sure.” I picked up a stack of eight, and together we made our way over to the others. As I passed the plates around, I took the time to look around the room another time. The Weavers were to our left, sitting with Instructor Takamachi and another, dressed in the black of the enforcers, in rapid conversation. My eyes widened as I realised who it was, Fate Tesstarossa, one of the youngest to have ever qualified as an Agent. It was surprising to me to see someone of her abilities involved in this unit. Although it seemed to be similar in scope to the ESO corps, none of their force members seemed to be at a sufficient level to warrant the resources currently assigned for their training. At their current levels, 1 or 2 trainers at ESO level would be sufficient, but from the data available on the unit, their trainers can both be considered Agents within the Enforcers.

“So what’s the normal day like here?” Tuala asked them.

“It’s not too bad I guess,” Subaru said between mouthfuls, “The work is much tougher here, compared to our last unit, especially the training.” Pausing, she looked at the others, “Don’t you think?”

“Agreed,” Erio and Caro said, simultaneously, while raising their hands. Seconds passed before they noticed, realisation of what had happened manifesting on their faces, both of them turning red.

“It’s training, training and more training here. The only time we’re not training during the day is if we get called on a mission. Either that or time for food.” Teana said, sighing. “Don’t misunderstand me…. I don’t mind all the training… It’s helped a lot but sometimes I just wish that something would happen.”

Her last comment made me look up from my plate. Tuala and Valivis had also stopped, forks and spoons in midair. Our eye’s met…

“Ehh, did I say something weird?” Teana asked, looking down to her left.

I could see the hint of a smile on Valivis’ face, Tuala was positively beaming and I’m sure my own would be mirroring Valivis’. I spoke up, “When things truly get busy, you’ll be eating those words and wanting to go back into training, I guarantee it.”

Valivis picked up where I left off, “What he means is that this time you have now is a blessing. It may not feel like it now, but when the time comes and you’re constantly on one mission or another, you’re going to be wishing that it could just be training.”

“Although the 4 of us have only been together for a few months, we’ve already many experiences of working with the Weavers on a number of their missions. Even before the squad was completed, Isamu and I did a short stint on board the Tempest. It was one of a trio of ships that had been sent to stop weapons smuggling between the TSAB and the non-administrated worlds in sector 629. A few days of intel gathering, before we started the raids. Every day, more of the syndicate’s bases were attacked, short but hard attacks. Near the end of the operation, we were being teleported from one mission to another, reinforcing the squads that needed it. We were all completely exhausted by the time we located their main stronghold. They were preparing to run at that point, sensor coverage showed areas of land that had been previously occupied. To stop more of them getting away, we launched immediately….” Tuala faltered, her voice trailing away.

The memories of that day still remained fresh in our minds, a constant reminder for Tuala and me about the fragility of our lives. I reached over and grasped her hand, wrapping my fingers around hers, squeezing gently. “Most of the details about that mission have been classified…. But to say that it was a FUBAR just gives it an impression that it was easier than it actually was. The weapons they carried cut through our ranks; a squad of men was annihilated completely in seconds. The arrival of the reserves from the Tempest and other ships in the battle group helped us to reinforce our breach within their complex, but we lacked the firepower to break through until the arrival of the Weavers and the Hunters 2 days later.”

Silence greeted me. I realised that everyone in the room had turned their attention on us. I gulped as Myristic stood, the sound of his chair moving back echoing around the room. He slowly made his way over to us, his face grim and I fought the urge to run, run before he got to us. “Like the Weaver’s have said, don’t be too hasty to get into action. The longer you have to prepare, the better you’ll be able to cope with what happens on the battlefield.” He levelled his gaze at Teana. “Your missions have been successes so far, but one day you’ll fail. Be it the death of a comrade, injury or the inability to complete your mission, how you respond then is what matters. The TSAB tries to avoid the use of lethal force, but sometimes death is the only option. Are you ready for that responsibility?”

Silence reined once more as Valivis and the forward members thought about Myristic’s words. “We’ll have to wait and see won’t we,” Valivis said, “Although it’s likely that I’ll be the first to answer that question, given that I’m an enforcer.”

Myristic nodded, “Hopefully that day will be long in coming.” Addressing the others he said, “Think long and hard about why you’re here, what you want to achieve. If the possibility of dealing with death and the taking of life isn’t part of what you want, I hope you seriously consider transferring within the organisation to another division.” He turned away and walked back to the others, leaving us to think about his words.

Noticing that the forwards hadn’t touched their plates, Tuala urged them to eat, “You can think about what he just said while you eat you know. It won’t be good if you faint later in the day from not eating properly.”

The next 10 minutes passed quietly at our table, each of us digging in, replenishing the energy that we had used earlier in the morning, the mountain of pasta and salad in the centre of the table disappearing at an alarming rate. “Did any of you want any more?” I asked. Everyone at the table shook their heads, continuing to eat as they did. I caught the eye of Teana, who had just finished. “You did quite well today, considering what happened.” I said.

“Hmmm….. not really. I never managed to use my illusions. Otherwise I should have been able to get away.” She sighed deeply, “The moment I get into a melee battle, I always end up on the losing side… Going to have to work on that since I’m planning on becoming an enforcer in the future.”

“Really?” Tuala replied. “Well, I guess this means that you’ve already thought about what the captain discussed earlier.”

“A little….” As she started to reply, the Weaver’s stood, David called across the room, “Apologies for the interruption, Blades ATTEND,” Pointing to a door that I hadn’t noticed before. We scrambled, our departure rattling the plates still on the table.

[Oops.. Isamu, could you get the forwards as well. This will be relevant to them also.]

I came to a stop halfway across the room. Turning back to see the forwards looking at me quizzically, I called them over, pointing at the group and then at the door to try and indicate that they were wanted also. Thankfully, they were able to figure out what I was trying to tell them, the noise of conversations preventing me from calling out to them. Meeting them at the door, I held it open as they filed through before entering myself.

Inside, all hints of the outside world disappeared, not a sound could be heard from the adjacent room. A number of screens opposite me displayed vision from the skirmish, to their left the Weavers stood along with the other members of the division’s command staff. “If everyone could find a seat, we’ll begin,” Myristic said from behind the lectern. “I’ll try and keep this as brief as possible since much of this is irrelevant to the others. Blades, you’ll be seeing a detailed report on any errors today, large and small, once we get back to base.” Behind him, the display flickered before settling on our first human contact with the enemy.

“I’m sure it’s quite clear to you all now….. Keep an eye on the sky at all times. Aerial mages will be a massive problem, even if all they do is keep their eyes on you.” The display altered again, this time to video footage of the battles between Teana, Subaru Iza and I. “Not much to say on my team.” Myristic raised the question to the room, “Any comments for the forwards?”

I raised my hand. “We talked a little about it over brunch. Their problem stemmed from being split up against superior opponents. The two of them together would have been a match for me and Iza separately.. once we had engaged, better efforts should have been made to get back to their squad partner.” Myristic nodded and with a slight gesture of his hands, motioned me to continue. “I do admit that it is much easier said than done, but given Subaru’s advantage in manoeuvrability, she should have been able to shake Iza, to make her way back to Teana.”

From the front of the room came another voice, “I’ll see what we can do about that…. But I’m not sure the forwards want to be doing more exercises every day.” I could hear muffled groans just in front of me from the forwards. Suppressing a smile, I waved at Myristic to continue.

“I’d like to ask the opinion of everyone in this room whether this was an appropriate action or indeed if it was necessary.” His eye’s swept the room, his gaze resting on us for seconds before continuing. The screens behind the captain flipped to Erio during his time as a hostage. “I understand already that Isamu is against it entirely.. however…. There have been documented cases within the ESO’s about the taking of hostages during active combat missions. Cases in which they have gotten away with further injury to their teams.”

Tuala shot to her feet, “Before anyone else speaks, taking Erio hostage was a perfectly valid way to end the scenario. We very nearly succeeded as well, only the last second cage by the Lieutenant left us with no other choice than to nullify all magic within that area, leading to our capture. If those drones had been manoeuvred a second later, we would all have managed to move into the effective teleporter range.”

“But in doing so, do we not harm the bureau’s image, as well as giving precedent to those who aspire to see the bureau extinguished reason for their actions.” A sharp reply came from the front, originating from the officer who had met us upon arrival.

“Better for that to happen than fail to warn the bureau about any possible threats that we’ve been sent to retrieve.” Tuala retorted.

“Your logic makes sense. Although I hope that you’re prepared for the consequences of your actions,” the officer replied.

Tuala dropped back into her seat with an hmpf, signalling her wish to stop the conversation. Whispered conversations took place around the room for the next minute, before Myristic spoke once more. “Well if that’s it, we’ll stop this now.” He was greeted with nods by all present. “Time to get onto our last joint activity of the day then.” We looked at him in puzzlement. ‘I can’t remember there being anything else to do today’. “The Weavers and I will be showing you how it’s supposed to be done.” He continued with a grin.

“Eeeehhh!!!”

Our jaws must have dropped in amazement. “You do know that I’m not just a desk worker right……”

“O…Of course we do…. It’s just a surprise…. A really big surprise…” Valivis stammered.

Ignoring us now, he walked out with the Weavers, nodding at the other officers in the room. “Let’s have a good time out there.”

“Don’t think you’ll win so easily now!” They called back at him.

Now we haven't been given any info about how the enforcers are made up so I've made some stuff up for them.

We already know that the Enforcers are with the Navy, so I've made them work like the Marines. Each ship will have a complement of Enforcers which will deal with things that need boots on the ground.

Ranking within the enforcers: However, all are referred to as Enforcers.

Enforcer- standard ship board grunts 10<x<20 (ie, grunts seen during S1, S2) The Blades are currently here.

Enforcer Spec-Op (ESO) - Higher trained enforcers, capable of working alone, but usually operating in smaller groups 5<x<10. Given more dangerous tasks, ie, hostage rescue, extraction, sabotage- (in RL, the Spec-Ops missions) (Weavers, Hunters )

Agent: The most elite of the bunch, usually working alone, or leads a group of ESO’s on missions. (Fate, Chrono,…….) (Spec-Ops tasks, tasks more suited to one person.)

Nice debriefing to top off the Forward's mock exercise there, along with a careful analysis of the actions and mistakes both sides did. That bit with Teana and her comment was the best part, if only because it reminds me of a discussion along a similar gist back here.

(Basically one of the patrons at my net cafe, who happens to be my cousin, said that "killing is fun", in front of my older brother, who was to be deployed to counterinsurgency (COIN) operations soon. The discussion basically went along the same vein, on how it's much easier to think and talk about killing in the frontlines than actually doing it.)

Miharu lived with the Doctor for a year but he went crazy and killed himself. He told Miharu to look for her Onee-chan before he died. (he also gave the same powers to Miharu as Caro and made a clone of freid) Miharu been looking for her Onee-chan about year with her Dragon Creidche(k-rii-dche) also know as Reii(Rii). Now she wonders the streets with no food or money. She found a lab and hid there. She always saw scienctist walking around creating something intill the TSAB came to stop them but they wouldn't so they had to fight forcefully (And guess who went to shut them down?!) Caro!! Caro saw Miharu knocked out in the lab. Caro saved her to her to the hospital. And Miharu awakens...

For a first attempt, it's forgivable at least. Nice way to dodge the Ion Canon by making it post Strikers Don't think a sister to Caro has been done before. Might want to look at Keroko's pieces for inspiration on how to flesh out this scenario more. Otherwise, has potential

So yeah I guess experience combined with a sharp sense of what's "fair" has made me something of an anti-hax crusader that always tends toward the lower range of anything given settings power level and is prone to sniping at perceived abuse.

So that's why you tick Well, I guess anybody with as much forum RP experience as you have would be most suitable to be H4XX moderator (I do know how hasslesome it would be when a forum RPer persistently defends his H4XX despite all the evidence and arguments against it ).

Go ahead with the rankings... they're meant to tide us over until canon gives us more info (if they ever).

Just as long as I know of any major happenings before hand (deaths/injuries/ love interests/etc), you're free to do what you want with them. Oh and the approximate time as well so we don't run into any nasty surprises.

That was my intention... also to remind everyone that although we've seen the 'good' side of Nanoha, death in combat would be if not a common occurence, something that is likely to happen eventually, given the part of the TSAB that they're in. (active duty special forces)

Vita, the reason behind our defeat walked in front of us, chatting with Shari who had been in control of the drones and Takamachi Nanoha, the Ace of Aces, one of a number of respected individuals within the organisation. At the end of our line walked the boy Erio supported by Caro who was in turn supported by Iza. Tuala leant on my right shoulder, obviously more exhausted than I had thought. I felt a twinge of guilt for forcing her to carry Erio during the exercise. ‘I’ll talk to her later on and see if she wants anything.’

Her suggestion to use Erio as a hostage had nearly worked but still sat ill on my conscience. This stain on my morals had grown darker as we wrapped up and we had a chance to talk to our opponents in person. It surprised us to discover that the pair were only 12/13 and that the other two Subaru and Teana were only a little older at 16/17. Even though I’ve been with the TSAB for nearly 2 years now, it is still weird to see children in the line of fire, regardless of their ability.

At the far end of the room, all of the officers who had been present at the start of the exercise were waiting. Nudging Tuala gently, I cleared my throat. The others looked at me as I did before following my gaze. Together we straightened, heads up facing the group.

The shortest among the group stepped forward, short brown hair framing her face. “At ease,” she said, her voice, though soft held an air of experience. “No need to be so formal, especially after nearly three hours out there. As the commanding officer, I’d like to welcome you all to Mobile Division 6. I trust that our facilities met your standards.” She was the same person who had addressed us this morning, just before we started. Something about her was familiar and I struggled to remember where I had seen her before.

“Now if you would follow me, refreshments are available in the adjoining room, where we will go over the exercise,” pointing to her left at a small door. As with the rest of the buildings in the complex, the room showed little sign of use, chairs stacked neatly to one side, mountains of salad and pasta heaped upon a table opposite. The weight pressing against me disappeared as the forwards moved towards the food, Subaru, Teana and Erio each picking up a huge bowl each, filling them with completely before heading towards the tables. Caro waved at us from another, where she was gathering the cutlery. “Could you help me with the plates?” she asked.

“Sure.” I picked up a stack of eight, and together we made our way over to the others. As I passed the plates around, I took the time to look around the room another time. The Weavers were to our left, sitting with Instructor Takamachi and another, dressed in the black of the enforcers, in rapid conversation. My eyes widened as I realised who it was, Fate Tesstarossa, one of the youngest to have ever qualified as an Agent. It was surprising to me to see someone of her abilities involved in this unit. Although it seemed to be similar in scope to the ESO corps, none of their force members seemed to be at a sufficient level to warrant the resources currently assigned for their training. At their current levels, 1 or 2 trainers at ESO level would be sufficient, but from the data available on the unit, their trainers can both be considered Agents within the Enforcers.

“So what’s the normal day like here?” Tuala asked them.

“It’s not too bad I guess,” Subaru said between mouthfuls, “The work is much tougher here, compared to our last unit, especially the training.” Pausing, she looked at the others, “Don’t you think?”

“Agreed,” Erio and Caro said, simultaneously, while raising their hands. Seconds passed before they noticed, realisation of what had happened manifesting on their faces, both of them turning red.

“It’s training, training and more training here. The only time we’re not training during the day is if we get called on a mission. Either that or time for food.” Teana said, sighing. “Don’t misunderstand me…. I don’t mind all the training… It’s helped a lot but sometimes I just wish that something would happen.”

Her last comment made me look up from my plate. Tuala and Valivis had also stopped, forks and spoons in midair. Our eye’s met…

“Ehh, did I say something weird?” Teana asked, looking down to her left.

I could see the hint of a smile on Valivis’ face, Tuala was positively beaming and I’m sure my own would be mirroring Valivis’. I spoke up, “When things truly get busy, you’ll be eating those words and wanting to go back into training, I guarantee it.”

Valivis picked up where I left off, “What he means is that this time you have now is a blessing. It may not feel like it now, but when the time comes and you’re constantly on one mission or another, you’re going to be wishing that it could just be training.”

“Although the 4 of us have only been together for a few months, we’ve already many experiences of working with the Weavers on a number of their missions. Even before the squad was completed, Isamu and I did a short stint on board the Tempest. It was one of a trio of ships that had been sent to stop weapons smuggling between the TSAB and the non-administrated worlds in sector 629. A few days of intel gathering, before we started the raids. Every day, more of the syndicate’s bases were attacked, short but hard attacks. Near the end of the operation, we were being teleported from one mission to another, reinforcing the squads that needed it. We were all completely exhausted by the time we located their main stronghold. They were preparing to run at that point, sensor coverage showed areas of land that had been previously occupied. To stop more of them getting away, we launched immediately….” Tuala faltered, her voice trailing away.

The memories of that day still remained fresh in our minds, a constant reminder for Tuala and me about the fragility of our lives. I reached over and grasped her hand, wrapping my fingers around hers, squeezing gently. “Most of the details about that mission have been classified…. But to say that it was a FUBAR just gives it an impression that it was easier than it actually was. The weapons they carried cut through our ranks; a squad of men was annihilated completely in seconds. The arrival of the reserves from the Tempest and other ships in the battle group helped us to reinforce our breach within their complex, but we lacked the firepower to break through until the arrival of the Weavers and the Hunters 2 days later.”

Silence greeted me. I realised that everyone in the room had turned their attention on us. I gulped as Myristic stood, the sound of his chair moving back echoing around the room. He slowly made his way over to us, his face grim and I fought the urge to run, run before he got to us. “Like the Weaver’s have said, don’t be too hasty to get into action. The longer you have to prepare, the better you’ll be able to cope with what happens on the battlefield.” He levelled his gaze at Teana. “Your missions have been successes so far, but one day you’ll fail. Be it the death of a comrade, injury or the inability to complete your mission, how you respond then is what matters. The TSAB tries to avoid the use of lethal force, but sometimes death is the only option. Are you ready for that responsibility?”

Silence reined once more as Valivis and the forward members thought about Myristic’s words. “We’ll have to wait and see won’t we,” Valivis said, “Although it’s likely that I’ll be the first to answer that question, given that I’m an enforcer.”

Myristic nodded, “Hopefully that day will be long in coming.” Addressing the others he said, “Think long and hard about why you’re here, what you want to achieve. If the possibility of dealing with death and the taking of life isn’t part of what you want, I hope you seriously consider transferring within the organisation to another division.” He turned away and walked back to the others, leaving us to think about his words.

Noticing that the forwards hadn’t touched their plates, Tuala urged them to eat, “You can think about what he just said while you eat you know. It won’t be good if you faint later in the day from not eating properly.”

The next 10 minutes passed quietly at our table, each of us digging in, replenishing the energy that we had used earlier in the morning, the mountain of pasta and salad in the centre of the table disappearing at an alarming rate. “Did any of you want any more?” I asked. Everyone at the table shook their heads, continuing to eat as they did. I caught the eye of Teana, who had just finished. “You did quite well today, considering what happened.” I said.

“Hmmm….. not really. I never managed to use my illusions. Otherwise I should have been able to get away.” She sighed deeply, “The moment I get into a melee battle, I always end up on the losing side… Going to have to work on that since I’m planning on becoming an enforcer in the future.”

“Really?” Tuala replied. “Well, I guess this means that you’ve already thought about what the captain discussed earlier.”

“A little….” As she started to reply, the Weaver’s stood, David called across the room, “Apologies for the interruption, Blades ATTEND,” Pointing to a door that I hadn’t noticed before. We scrambled, our departure rattling the plates still on the table.

[Oops.. Isamu, could you get the forwards as well. This will be relevant to them also.]

I came to a stop halfway across the room. Turning back to see the forwards looking at me quizzically, I called them over, pointing at the group and then at the door to try and indicate that they were wanted also. Thankfully, they were able to figure out what I was trying to tell them, the noise of conversations preventing me from calling out to them. Meeting them at the door, I held it open as they filed through before entering myself.

Inside, all hints of the outside world disappeared, not a sound could be heard from the adjacent room. A number of screens opposite me displayed vision from the skirmish, to their left the Weavers stood along with the other members of the division’s command staff. “If everyone could find a seat, we’ll begin,” Myristic said from behind the lectern. “I’ll try and keep this as brief as possible since much of this is irrelevant to the others. Blades, you’ll be seeing a detailed report on any errors today, large and small, once we get back to base.” Behind him, the display flickered before settling on our first human contact with the enemy.

“I’m sure it’s quite clear to you all now….. Keep an eye on the sky at all times. Aerial mages will be a massive problem, even if all they do is keep their eyes on you.” The display altered again, this time to video footage of the battles between Teana, Subaru Iza and I. “Not much to say on my team.” Myristic raised the question to the room, “Any comments for the forwards?”

I raised my hand. “We talked a little about it over brunch. Their problem stemmed from being split up against superior opponents. The two of them together would have been a match for me and Iza separately.. once we had engaged, better efforts should have been made to get back to their squad partner.” Myristic nodded and with a slight gesture of his hands, motioned me to continue. “I do admit that it is much easier said than done, but given Subaru’s advantage in manoeuvrability, she should have been able to shake Iza, to make her way back to Teana.”

From the front of the room came another voice, “I’ll see what we can do about that…. But I’m not sure the forwards want to be doing more exercises every day.” I could hear muffled groans just in front of me from the forwards. Suppressing a smile, I waved at Myristic to continue.

“I’d like to ask the opinion of everyone in this room whether this was an appropriate action or indeed if it was necessary.” His eye’s swept the room, his gaze resting on us for seconds before continuing. The screens behind the captain flipped to Erio during his time as a hostage. “I understand already that Isamu is against it entirely.. however…. There have been documented cases within the ESO’s about the taking of hostages during active combat missions. Cases in which they have gotten away with further injury to their teams.”

Tuala shot to her feet, “Before anyone else speaks, taking Erio hostage was a perfectly valid way to end the scenario. We very nearly succeeded as well, only the last second cage by the Lieutenant left us with no other choice than to nullify all magic within that area, leading to our capture. If those drones had been manoeuvred a second later, we would all have managed to move into the effective teleporter range.”

“But in doing so, do we not harm the bureau’s image, as well as giving precedent to those who aspire to see the bureau extinguished reason for their actions.” A sharp reply came from the front, originating from the officer who had met us upon arrival.

“Better for that to happen than fail to warn the bureau about any possible threats that we’ve been sent to retrieve.” Tuala retorted.

“Your logic makes sense. Although I hope that you’re prepared for the consequences of your actions,” the officer replied.

Tuala dropped back into her seat with an hmpf, signalling her wish to stop the conversation. Whispered conversations took place around the room for the next minute, before Myristic spoke once more. “Well if that’s it, we’ll stop this now.” He was greeted with nods by all present. “Time to get onto our last joint activity of the day then.” We looked at him in puzzlement. ‘I can’t remember there being anything else to do today’. “The Weavers and I will be showing you how it’s supposed to be done.” He continued with a grin.

“Eeeehhh!!!”

Our jaws must have dropped in amazement. “You do know that I’m not just a desk worker right……”

“O…Of course we do…. It’s just a surprise…. A really big surprise…” Valivis stammered.

Ignoring us now, he walked out with the Weavers, nodding at the other officers in the room. “Let’s have a good time out there.”

“Don’t think you’ll win so easily now!” They called back at him.

Now we haven't been given any info about how the enforcers are made up so I've made some stuff up for them.

We already know that the Enforcers are with the Navy, so I've made them work like the Marines. Each ship will have a complement of Enforcers which will deal with things that need boots on the ground.

Ranking within the enforcers: However, all are referred to as Enforcers.

Enforcer- standard ship board grunts 10<x<20 (ie, grunts seen during S1, S2) The Blades are currently here.

Enforcer Spec-Op (ESO) - Higher trained enforcers, capable of working alone, but usually operating in smaller groups 5<x<10. Given more dangerous tasks, ie, hostage rescue, extraction, sabotage- (in RL, the Spec-Ops missions) (Weavers, Hunters )

Agent: The most elite of the bunch, usually working alone, or leads a group of ESO’s on missions. (Fate, Chrono,…….) (Spec-Ops tasks, tasks more suited to one person.)

A little bit of her story(summary): Artificial mage. a Doctor (not scalatti or how ever you spell it)Saw Caro when she was young and thought she was the perfect child for him so he got her DNA(still thinking how he got it) And tried to make a copy and made "Miharu". Miharu lived with the Doctor for a year but he went crazy and killed himself. He told Miharu to look for her Onee-chan before he died. (he also gave the same powers to Miharu as Caro and made a clone of freid) Miharu been looking for her Onee-chan about year with her Dragon Creidche(k-rii-dche) also know as Reii(Rii). Now she wonders the streets with no food or money. She found a lab and hid there. She always saw scienctist walking around creating something intill the TSAB came to stop them but they wouldn't so they had to fight forcefully (And guess who went to shut them down?!) Caro!! Caro saw Miharu knocked out in the lab. Caro saved her to her to the hospital. And Miharu awakens...

Vita was flying orbits over the area trying to find her target, after the initial clash he’d disappeared in the smoke and not reappeared since. Attempts to scan for his magic signature had proved futile; he was apparently quite good at hiding it. I figured a gutless hired gun like him would be.

Just as she was wondering if the coward might have just run off though she caught sight of several flashes out of the corner of her eye. She weaved past several of the magic missiles that had raced up at her from a nearby building and smacked another aside with Graf Eisen, and she’d seen where that attack came from!

“Schwalbe Fliegen!” The four projectiles raced out and pulverized the roof of the building obscuring it nearly entirely. Not being a total dunce she didn’t simply race in after the attack, but instead hung back expecting to see her target fleeing the building in some direction, but after almost half a minute she’d seen nothing and the smoke was nearly gone. Could that have acutally KOed him or something? She’d ideally hoped he wasn’t that big of a chump as this could have been the most disappointing fight she’d ever been in. She slowly hovered down onto to the roof carefully setting down on it and searching through the debris. She wasn’t seeing anything though not a single sign of him anywhere she paused to scan the area around her again.

He’d fired the missiles up top remotely from inside hoping to do just this, lure her down onto the roof for an ambush… The signature above suddenly stopped completely. “Load Cartridge, Flak shot.” He estimated its position above him and fired the blast tore through three floors of the building exploding on target just as it was about to breech the roof. The moment after he fired he quickly began summoning up a swarm of SRMM and positioned them near the windows.

Damn it where is he…!!! She felt the spike just in time to get a few feet up before the ground exploded under her feet sending her careering away through the air. She slammed into a building across the street managing to do so feet first thus stabilizing her just in time to see a dozen or so magic missiles racing right at her.

“Panzer Hindernis!” The hastily erected barrier absorbed the impacts as Vita quickly got back into the air and scanned the area expecting more attacks, none seemed forthcoming though and throughout that entire skirmish she hadn’t even seen him nor did she have a clue where the hell he was now. She was starting to get really pissed.

She reacts fast, that barrier was pretty tough too I’ll need to hit it with something big to do much. Felix mused to himself as he bounded down the buildings stairwell leaping entire flights of stairs and flaring a small amount of flight magic just before impact to keep from breaking his legs. He was heading for the ground floor. She’d likely expect him to burst out of a window or something and take flight. It was likely she’d wait at least a few seconds for that before she pondered he might still be inside. She’d then most likely begin searching near where the magic missiles had come from. Once she did then he’d slip outside and move into a new piece of cover.

It was tempting to try and ambush her again at the site he’d fired the missiles from, but he didn’t have anyway to be sure she’d start there and getting caught inside the building with her would be bad. Better safe then sorry so he’d slip away and open the range to wait for another chance.

He arrived at the lobby and quickly moved toward the glass doors at a crouched run splaying himself against the wall just to the right of them. He thanked his luck this was a ruined cityscape as the glass on the door was pretty much busted out. He stuck Murru out around the edge pointed upwards; and surveyed his device beamed back his launch site should be nearly directly above him… Bingo He’d spotted her and sure enough she was tentatively moving inside near where he’d attacked from. Once he saw she was fully inside he threw open the buildings door and sprinted to a shop across the street jumping through the broken front window, over the counter, and exiting out the back door.

Vita hovered over the building for nearly 45 seconds waiting for him to either attack again or come out. She considered just leveling it, but disregarded that quickly that would be unlikely to do much besides give him a huge cloud of debris and smoke to slip away under. If he wasn’t going to come out she’d have to go in… She moved in close to the side of the building slowly hovering along it’s façade to the area she thought the attack had come from. Pressing against the building face and leaning her head out she surveyed the room. It looked like a pretty boring rundown office turned over desks, scattered paper, and grime covered walls. Not seeing any threat she moved inside Graf Eisen held ready before her as she moved deep inside.

This fight was getting annoying fast this bastard wasn’t playing by the rules… He wouldn’t fight her head on, in fact she’d barely even SEEN him since the fight began. She wondered if perhaps he had some kind of invisibility spell. It was possible, but she had no way to prove it as nothing he’d done so far would have required that kind of skill. She had to admit though this might not be that bad a thing… Fighting all those brainless drones and other CC specialists recently might have caused her to neglect some aspects of her game… This guy was still a gutless coward of coruse, but at least chasing him down and beating him to a pulp might provide some useful training.

“I will thanks!”

The young girl cheerfully replied to the male clerk behind the counter as she took the take-out paper bag and the large black and white Styrofoam cup in front of her, placing them on the basket mounted in front of the touring bike she was riding on. With a kick of her legs by the pedals she rode out of the fast food joint’s drive-through lane, and into the adjacent three-lane street heading northward.

She pedaled past the primarily unoccupied streets, with most of the traffic held at bay by the all-important lunch hour. She was in high spirits today, this young vibrant woman of seventeen cruising along 66th Street, despite the high noon sun heating the dry tropical air to a sweltering 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Faster she pedaled, impatient as she was to get to her destination. For the day was good, with the bright deep blue cloudless sky above, and the dry gentle breeze that kept her cool as it blew past. And just for this day she dressed to look her best, wearing a simple, yet elegant white, single piece sleeveless frilly dress that gently swayed in the wind; and a white frilled Easter bonnet with a red ribbon on its crown she wore on her head.

For the rest of the citizens of Pinellas Park, and the counties, and states, countries and the world beyond it, it was a day like any other, another in the planet’s cycle of light and dark. A day that many would rather spend waiting for tomorrow.

It might have been the same for her too, a day filled with humdrum and the drudgery of chores. She recalled how the phone rang in her room, in the still dark wee hours of the morning only hours before. The previous day had been a stressful one for her, for reasons only she can disclose, and she had gone to bed wishing to just dream her way to the morning. Already she felt grumpy, angry even, when she sourly awakened from her dream which she clearly enjoyed, and the persistent metallic ringing was an evil nuisance. Only the need to shut up the vile device forced her to attend to whatever message it begged to deliver.

She was majorly pissed, and whoever fool had called her this early was going to taste a piece of her mind. “Matsuri Miyama here, thanks for calling so early, now bug off ass-”

“Gomen gomen! Guess I’ll call la-.”

Cancel that.

“SHINJI!!!! GOOD MORNING!!!!”

With the sound of her beloved’s voice, she leapt out of bed, her disposition turning a drastic 180, acutely cheerful and energetic, her sleepiness and grumpiness vanishing like they never existed.

“I’m sorry for that! I didn’t know it was you!” Her simple apology went, nervous embarrassment filling her voice.

On his side, he accepted her apology with a chuckle, much like his chipper self. “I should apologize as well, didn’t know it was still so early at your place. Guess I woke you up huh?”

She shook her head.

“I don’t mind now! Why are you calling so early?”

“Right, about that…”

It was his words that morning that compelled the smile she wore today, the radiant smile that drew the eyes of those on the sidewalks she happened to pass by. And she returned their attentions with a warm smile and a welcome greeting, and they responded with their own curious, yet grateful cheers. She was undeniably happy, she knew it, and she wanted to spread it around.

Turning right now upon 94th Avenue, and nearly half a mile onward to the left, was her final destination, the entrance to the Helen Howarth Community Park.

The memories came back to her as she came upon the avenue, the still vivid memories of a fateful day. Passing by the shoulder at the right of the road, she glanced at the space, in between the trees, where she reflected, and questioned the very meaning of the emotions she carried. Where despair and darkness had consumed her very being, driving her to madness. And when all seemed lost within her bottomless well of agony and pain, she found the light that brought her back from the darkness. For the first time in her life, where she felt true hope in the embrace of another, one who never gave up on her, on THEM.

Six months had passed now since then. Six long months since that bittersweet day. Since she last saw him in person. Since she last felt the embrace that saved her. His embrace, that saved her from the unbearable pain. A pain she had brought upon herself, by her stubborn and ignorant words.

Even now, the sting of her own words pained her deeply. Pain that cut deeper as she thought of the person who received them, the very person who gave his trust, hope, and love to her.

It was a contradiction she still could not explain to this day. But long ago, she had vowed never to let her logic interfere with her caring heart. To never hurt him again. He had trusted her once again through all their pain, and it was only right that she returned the favor with her heart.

Through these six longs months they had talked only thirty times, most via instant messaging and sometimes only for a few minutes, separated by their own necessary personal agendas and schedules. But she cherished them all, those thirty times spent with him, remembered every word he said to her, his words that never fail to catch her heart.

And now, with the words he gave to her this day, all she can do now was wait.

Left now she turned upon the park trail, weaving through its gently winding contours lined by the thick forest canopies. Until at last the reached her destination at the end of the trail: a very small low-lying wooden cottage, no larger than one of the nearby public park restrooms, hidden behind the trees.

She disembarked from her touring bike, securing it by chain to one of the cottage’s outer posts. Take-out bags and the large Styrofoam cup in hand, she pushed the inward swinging door open and went inside.

Visibly, there was nothing inside the cottage, just an empty space between four wooden walls, laterally arranged floor planks and ceiling. The very first time she was led here, this unusual absence of substance within had been a source of inexplicable confusion. This time, she knew better, tapping her feet twice successively on the floor planks, and then tapping once more after two seconds, then looked to her right.

Several of the interlocking floor planks in front of her seemed to sink an inch into the ground, then silently retracted outwards under the stationary planks. After seconds of shifting, the floor now revealed a large three by three meter hole, dominated by a large metal staircase leading underground.

Though she had seen the sight before, to see such a complex mechanical system in operation still left quite the impression, and also bemusement at the reason behind its sophistication. She shrugged off her thoughts on the matter as she quickly descended on the staircase, in what seem to be a bottomless descent. An imposing steel door finally met her at the bottom of the steps.

“Uncle Turing, open up! It’s me!”

The door slid open upon her request.

A spacious white windowless room lay before her, its immaculately clean matte walls and floor seemingly made from an unknown plastic polymer. The entire ceiling, several meters up, seemed to be made out of white light, providing illumination and accentuating the cleanliness of the room. For an underground facility, the air itself was refreshingly air-conditioned, maintaining a cool that nonetheless didn’t chill one’s self. After the heat that was the outside, it was certainly a welcome feeling.

At the far end of the room was a stepped platform, and by the wall was circular design engraved in its center, a smaller ring inside a much larger circle. Between them, four smaller circles lay equidistant from each other along the length of the ring in a diamond formation, each one bearing a different Greek symbol, representing Pi, Delta, Omega and Nu. In the circular space inside the array were interlocking squares, forming an octagram in the shape of the Star of Lakshmi, and another set of smaller rings lay at the middle of the array. The insides of both sets of rings were adorned with a seemingly haphazard yet elegant written script, which further added to the mystique of the array. Supposedly called a ‘Midchilda style array’, it was the core of this entire room.

And to her left, over by a far corner of the room, surrounded by a semicircular desk filled with all sorts of desktop computers, monitors, and other electronic equipment, hidden from sight yet with an unmistakable presence of someone busily working to the cacophony of keyboard strokes, was the person she was looking for. A dark skinned man around his forties, with a thin grey stubble and accompanying beard, flat top grey hair and looking at her with expectant eyes.

“Oh, Miyama, finally! You have no idea how long I’ve waited for your graces! Got what I ordered?” he spoke in a soft, yet gruff voice, of someone who had waited impatiently while still restraining his zeal.

“I got you your Big Buford, chips, - “

“And my large Banana Vanilla milkshake?“

“AND your large Banana Vanilla milkshake. Here.” She gently placed all the items on an empty spot on the desk, and watched in amusement as her uncle took out his meal, wrapped in silver foil, and made short work of his bulky double-patty hamburger, and let out a long, loud burp of satisfaction. Not that he ate like a pig – he ate quite cleanly in fact - but his extremely fast eating habit was still something she couldn’t quite stomach yet.

“Nothing like Checkers after a good day of progress!” he declared loudly, then burping one more time, much to her annoyance.

“Manners please uncle?”

“Manners? What are these, ‘manners’ you speak of Miyama?”

She sighed in hopeless frustration at her uncle. Nothing she could do about it though, she thought. Her Uncle Allen Turing had long been one to not care about most anything except his work, and his food. And speaking of his work, there was a question she wanted to ask him.

“How is it Uncle?”

For his credit, Turing knew what she was asking for. “Oh, their Matrix Projections? They’ll be up in time, don’t you sweat. I’m just debugging the software again. Even for one like myself who can’t make mistakes, you can’t be too certain!” He whimsically replied in reassurance, before returning his attention to the monitor in front of him.

The Solid Matrix Projections. Despite her mind that can easily digest and process complex scientific facts, she still had difficulty understanding the mechanics of this unusual technology. Ever since she learned the existence of this so-called 'Techno-magic' six months ago, her curious mind had tried to grasp the concepts and science of the subject, her wish to expand her horizons beyond the academics to which she had been taught.

She pondered these thoughts as she looked at the engraved array inside the room. Magic. An energy formed from transdimensional sources beyond the extent of the 11 theoretical dimensions that made up this reality. This was not the magic that she knew from fairy tales, incredibly simple, naïve and unexplainable, and from conmen, tricksters and artists that relied on slight-of-hand, and the methods of deception and misdirection to inspire awe to the unknowledgeable. This was a tangible force, an energy she could class in the same manner as light, electrical, thermal, kinetic, nuclear, and other energies known to science. Yet this was no simple manifestation of a simple force; An energy with strong links to one’s mental faculties and abilities, it was energy with near unlimited potential, seemingly able to break the various laws of thermodynamics, entropy, and even logic.

Long ago she never would have believed in the existence of such an anomaly, in fact she outright denounced the possibility of its existence. She took great comfort and pride in the absoluteness of her knowledge, in their infallibility. That she would be able to explain everything that ever happened, is happening, and will happen. Uncertainty would be a distant nightmare, and no more would she fear that which others dared not question. In the comfort of her theories, she would no longer be alone.

It was that same pride that nearly destroyed the person she loved and cherished. And she nearly lost the one more important to her than herself. For she could not understand the world in which he had inhabited, a world that was beyond the closed borders of her scientific mind.

The truth of his existence brought uncertainty in her orderly world, and she thought it was an unbelievable lie, an absurdity. She could not handle the presence of such an inconsistency, and strove to drive it out with her logical mind. And she succeeded.

But all she got for her victory was a hollow void. A chasm in her heart that tore at her soul. It brought her only great misery and suffering.

She had forsaken the warm, and tender love of someone who had cared for her, for the cold hard assurance of fact. For her own selfishness that had been her only friend, until he came along, and became her light in the darkness.

Between her cage of assurance, in the certainty of logic and the bars of limit; and the embrace of fragile emotion, she had to make a choice.

Back then, swallowed by the evening darkness, she chose the latter. And on that day, she found something greater than the bounds of her logical mind. She had discovered the unbound and unlimited tenderness, forgiveness and compassion of the loving heart. And even if he wasn’t there physically, her loneliness would never return, for he was there where it mattered. Her fragile, yet caring heart.

For this reason, she took it upon herself to learn the idiosyncrasies and methodologies of his world. But she did so not out of the need to further her own knowledge. Her need was no longer of quenching her own thirst for minor trivial figures, calculations and formulations. Her need was that of the one value she thought she had.

Understanding.

“Would you like to see him?”

Her reverie was interrupted by her uncle’s words, which confused her greatly.

“Him?”

“Shinji. At least the body I’ve prepared for him. We have lots of undeserving time to kill.”

“Oh.” Was all she could utter. It wouldn’t for her curiosity to see it though. Even if Shinji’s self was not around, his physical body was currently in her Uncle’s possession, as the one contracted to develop and build them in the first place. “I'd like to very much."

Her reply brought a sly smile to the old man’s face. “I knew you’d want to. Stand back a moment now, this could get ugly.”

A key was pressed, and suddenly the room was filled with a bright yellow flash emanating from a bright pillar of light. In less than a second, the pillar faded, to reveal an unconscious young adolescent male of around 5’2”, fair-skinned, medium-build with short black clean cut hair. He was floating an inch above the ground with his arms tucked to his side.

And naked.

Several seconds passed in silence.

“Like what you see Miyama?”

It suddenly felt very, very hot.

“Uncle!!!!! Please put some clothes on him!!!” She finally cried out as she turned her head away, her face flushed red like a tomato. Another flash of light, and slowly she turned to look. The body was now clothed a white polo shirt, denim pants and running shoes. She sighed in relief… though what was this tinge of disappointment she felt? The thought was quelled mercilessly before it could contaminate her any further.

“And here I thought you liked it.”

“UNCLE!!!”

“I give. What do you think of it then?”

For her, it was a simple question with an equally simple and honest answer.

“He’s perfect!”

The old man tried chuckling in his gruff voice, but came out more like a cough.

“Perfect? Of course he is. I am God.”

Face met palm at his words.

“But I imagined you had wanted to change a few things here and there…”

Somehow, for reasons she could not fathom in that moment, his words unnerved her deeply, more than the meaning they implied.

“Uncle what are you saying?” She asked, her question laced with great confusion.

“With a few program commands I can shape him to be your ideal man. Yes, the man of your dreams. I could design him to be as tall as you want, or shorter. Bulging muscles, or fat as a pig.”

It was incredulous. She could not believe a word of what she was hearing. What were these demented ideas her uncle was suggesting? What were these despicable suggestions he was spouting? How could he say these insidious thoughts with his nonchalance?

“We could make him more Caucasian, or even African American, like yours truly, and just as handsome wouldn’t you say? You could style his hair anyway you like. If you like, we can even manipulate his whole persona-“

WHAM!

“SHUT UP!!!!!”

The hands she had slammed on the desk shook uncontrollably, her furious cry muting all other sounds in the room.

“I won’t change a thing about him Uncle!!! None!!!”

Her fury threatened to erupt from the depths of her soul, fuming with unbridled disgust and burning anger. As she trembled her shaky voice reeked with indomitable outrage.

“I can’t believe this Uncle! Asking me to toy around with Shinji as if he was someone without his own will and his own heart! His body may have been your creation, but it will be HIS decision, and HIS will, to whether he wants to change!!

He may have his share of flaws, and he may not be the most handsome person in the entire Earth, or universe, or Ordered Space or whatever else may be out there!! But I would rather have the Shinji with his flaws than someone I molded! It would no longer be him if I changed him, it would just be a fantasy!!!

Who do you think he is?! Shinji is Shinji! He is himself, and that’s all I want from him!!”

Lightheadedness. Exhaustion. She felt herself out of breath after her fervent outburst, deflated even. Venting out the last of her anger, she inhaled deeply, the fresh air cooling her passionate soul if for only a moment. And then she looked at the recipient of her resentment.

What met her was a smug man amused, like someone who had just watched a much-loved circus.

“You done yet Miyama?” he asked coolly, an act that totally bewildered the infuriated young girl. He then stood up, revealing his rather tall stature, and walked over to her.

“I was just messing with you, no worry. Your little outburst was certainly more than I had expected. But you know, there are lots of females – and especially married ones - who would kill to have the means to change their significant others like I can with Shinji.”

The girl’s anger now drowned in the flood of confusion that took over, finding her head filled with the most ridiculous questions about this uncle of hers. Even her mind could not comprehend the workings of this brain. And she was too drained to even bother on the subject.

Then she heard his question.

“Miyama. Do you mean to tell me that no matter his nature, that you have accepted Shinji for what he is?”

Acceptance. It was the second value she had pursued alongside her quest of understanding. It was not enough that one claimed to have understood a concept. To truly acknowledge and encompass the meaning behind it, one must accept, no matter how outlandish, no matter how foreign or alien. But the acceptance she strove for was one far simpler than that. It was her acceptance of his being, no matter what. No, no matter who he may be. Acceptance, borne from her love for him. For her Shinji.

And so she answered in her soft voice filled with unwavering confidence, through her gentle smile.

“I do. I do accept him. I accept him for all that he is, and all that he is not. Even if I cannot always explain or understand his being, all I know is that I love him, no matter what.”

Turing simply smiled at her reply, his smile of a man content.

“And Shinji, do you accept Matsuri Miyama as your lawfully wedded wife?”

“UNCLE TURING!!!!!”

The old man laughed boisterously at his fidgeting niece’s flushed face, then patted her shoulder a couple of times before laying his hand on her.

“A year ago, or even half year ago, I never would have imagined you answering like you did now. It is a change I cannot explain, and I probably wouldn’t attempt to do so, but I do know this. Shinji is a good man, and I am secure in the knowledge that my little niece is in good hands. And with your unquestioning acceptance of him, I finally know that he will be cared for by your hands.

I’m very proud of you Miyama, I really am.”

She could only nod back, mouthing her thanks as she looked on at Shinji’s floating body. She touched its right hand with both their own. It was warm. But it was an artificial warmth, it felt lifeless and cold. For he was still not here, the soul of the one who would inhabit this body soon. The soul she cherished above all else.

A high-pitched beep from the desktop computers demanded their immediate attention, and Turing returned to his desk to heed. It was the sound he had been waiting for. And for the young girl, it was the sound she had been patiently and eagerly awaited, her anticipation growing as she watched the array by the platform glow in a bright orange hue.

“Transfer is almost complete. Here we go.”

Within the pillar of orange light on the platform, a dark silhouette began to appear. Slowly, its shape morphed into a recognizably slender female form. And emerging from the pillar, a pony-tailed woman dressed in her sand brown unbuttoned long sleeved denim shirt, wearing white crop-top undershirt underneath, and a matching denim miniskirt. With her confident eyes staring at the young Matsuri through clear orange visors, raising a finger to the sky in one swift motion, she proudly declared:

“Bushin Souko no Musume!! KENZAN!!”

Only to be struck down cold by a supersonic flying chalk to the forehead, courtesy of the good old doctor behind the desk.

“Behave yourself. Nobody can proclaim themselves so highly in the domain of your God, young one.”

Matsuri could only sigh and look on in resignation at the absolute randomness that was her uncle. Beside the fallen woman three adolescents materialized out of thin air, leaning at their friend on the floor with their translucent bodies. Two women, a long haired redhead, scratching her head at what just transpired; and another with short blue hair, who was trying her best to wake the woman up without success.

And the third... was the reason for this young girl’s patience today. The reason she had waited so long. Why her welcoming eyes were slowly filling with tears. The young holographic boy in front of her, with his jet black hair. Though he was yet composed of holographic streams of light, as he slowly grabbed her hands she could feel his gentle warmth spread through her. The warmth that dispelled the dark bitter cold long ago, and now filled her heart with much joy. She could not help but smile at the one she loved.

And he smiled in return.

“You’re looking nice Matsuri.”

Her wait was over.

“Thank you Shinji. Welcome back!”

A little bit of her story(summary): Artificial mage. a Doctor (not scalatti or how ever you spell it)Saw Caro when she was young and thought she was the perfect child for him so he got her DNA(still thinking how he got it) And tried to make a copy and made "Miharu". Miharu lived with the Doctor for a year but he went crazy and killed himself. He told Miharu to look for her Onee-chan before he died. (he also gave the same powers to Miharu as Caro and made a clone of freid) Miharu been looking for her Onee-chan about year with her Dragon Creidche(k-rii-dche) also know as Reii(Rii). Now she wonders the streets with no food or money. She found a lab and hid there. She always saw scienctist walking around creating something intill the TSAB came to stop them but they wouldn't so they had to fight forcefully (And guess who went to shut them down?!) Caro!! Caro saw Miharu knocked out in the lab. Caro saved her to her to the hospital. And Miharu awakens...

-Recalls a huge pages long fight about a Lightside Jedi, that bit is important, suddenly just up and trying to force choke a pair of 40k Space Marines at the same time because they wouldn’t listen to her while arguing with each other! OOC much?! It was also almost comical how much the Marine players had to bullshit to explain them not just shooting her to death as a Psyker witch, acutally some of us wanted them too… (It was a Blood Angel Scout and an Iron Father if anyone is interested.)

-Or they guy whose “submarine destroyer” (as in a destroyer that can submerge, oh and it flew on anti-gravity of coruse) in a steampunk SD charges into about 6 enemy ships all nearly his size and then blew up like 4 of them before boarding and capturing another one in like 2 posts (and these weren’t epic posts in anyway either)!!! That was too much though and the Mods pimp slapped him and declared the last ship hit him dead on with a Telsa cannon and set off his ammunition supply blowing his ship apart and forcing his surviving characters to use the captured Frigate (much weaker and badly damaged from the fighting) as his ship if he wanted to continue.

Also the guy was in the Navy and the ship was experimental so his career was pretty much OVER.

-Or the guy whose China was at war with half the planet (launching 10,000 multi warhead nuclear missiles at people will do that…) and having taken all this advantages in his army and production had a very small navy that was now largely destroyed. Well the guys against him did have navies and they were cruising around bombing his coast pretty much at will, as a hard core munchkin that was totally unacceptable so he had a plan…

So he suddenly deploys thousands (not sure the exact number it was at least two and may as many as 10) of hover tanks off the coast to fly out and attack the ships. Keep in mind he did this even though he also had a huge army pushing into his country from the north that was killing massive numbers of this troops so how the fuck he even could spare this many tanks AT ALL is a rather large question. Anyway he makes like one post and declares that he sinks basiclly the entire enemy navy… No one might argue that having taken his advantage points (the system we set up to determine relative power in various areas) in army and production, not the Navy that trying to plow that advantage into an absurd method to counter the fact you’re fleet sucked and the enemy had gained sea control was rather munchkin’ish, and you’d be right of coruse but he still tried to defend the idea to the death, and thank god he got slapped him down and it was determined the entire force was seen miles from the fleet and sunk.

This same guy also listed “Civilian population won’t put up with losses” as a weakness… then declared that nearly all his population was in cites that had nearly impregnable theater shields.

-Or what about the guy whose spaceship (each player got a ship and we had to form a resistance to an alien invasion of our non FTL home system.) suddenly in the middle of battle transformed into a giant beam cannon armed mecha ala macross and pwned an alien fleet that all established canon for the debate said should have stomped him with one huge fuck off beam. This ability was of course not listed anywhere in his ships write up. He defended it as I recall by saying it was something to the effect of being a “Secret Weapon” so of coruse it wouldn’t show up in the official profile… Needless to say THAT defense didn’t fly, and he was forced to retcon the battle and was given a narrow escape with heavy damage from the alien fleet.

-This is still my favorite and IMO my finest hour of anti-munchkin operations though. After watching MJ12 use his mod powers to beat up on poor old Japan's player for most of the game over a minor dispute earlier. (Citrike had tried to claim that a sneak attack was totally defeated which was unreasonable, but MJ totally shafted him for daring to claim it would be anything besides almost devastating, which wasn’t unreasonable) He then promptly used his Mod powers to bullshit some excuse for China to invade Japan and steam roll them. (He basiclly took control of Japanese Air force and had then pursue the escaping attackers into Chinese air space and fire at their jets for little discernable reason…) All while the US (who he also controlled.) Did nothing but sit around and pick it’s butt, oh and get a BUNCH of its warships sunk.

Anyway the rampant abuse finally crossed the line. I had selected India as my nation, nominally allied with China but always implied to be jealous and wanting to claim it’s position as a superpower, and I’d done that because it was so close to China who MJ had been wanking HARD even in the pre-game. Seeing his rampant abuse I initiated my contingency plan, with all this planes and ships and such off mucking about in Japan I had my entire army invade north into the heart of his country and my air force begin bombing key facilities all across China in a mass sneak attack.

I expected him start yelling and wanking about how he defeated the attack and was still winning (Even though the majority of the planet was now officially at war with him…). But it was even better then I could have hoped he TOTALLY lost it and acutally made the US(you know the country that China had launched a sneak attack on and invaded and occupied a major ally of…) Randomly declare war on India!!! When large parts of the player base pointed out how patently insane that was. He changed gears to an even more insane plan and launched THOUSANDS of nuclear and biological weapons at EVERYONE!!! Everyone fired back of coruse and when it was over most of Asia was a glowing toxic wasteland… (oh and of coruse early in the thread he’d declared such a large scale attack was largely useless and AMS defenses of most nations would shot down the vast majority of the attack, but when he was backed against a wall and needed to lash out he ignored that…)

Anyway the debate basiclly ended at that point with like half the worlds population and most of the “eastern bloc” having blown itself to pieces but it was worth it. Ahh good times, good times.

As I'm not quite sure where the story is headed after this introduction (villains, other possible OCs) this may be my last chapter for a while. “Can we reach Agent Tangath?” the vessel’s captain called above the bridge’s din?

“Nicholas, please respond!”

“…I can hear you,” Nicholas’s voice nonchalantly responded over the bridge’s comm.

“Hold on,” an operator responded. “We can get you out of there in a minute!”

“No!”

“What do you mean, ‘no?’”

“I’ve still got a chance against him,” Nicholas answered.

“This guy’s not thinking straight,” another operator said under his breath. “Should we send in reinforcement Mages?”

“We’re ready to go any time,” came the voice of a mage as his face appeared on a hovering display.

“That won’t do,” the captain responded. “We can’t make such a sudden intrusion into a Non-Administered world, no matter how we cover our tracks. But, that man Cartwright is using the Lost Logia rather small-mindedly…”

“Just leave it to-nngh!”

Nicholas couldn’t finish his sentence as the Feldstein increased its pressure on his body. The clasped hands that had been partially crushed by his Intercept Crush now had the shape of a hastily crumpled sheet of aluminum foil, and a sharp corner was starting to dig into his right side. At the moment Nicholas wasn’t sure if the fact that he hadn’t been crushed yet was due to the fact that it couldn’t add force with the disabled right leg or perhaps that Lester wanted to have some more fun with him. Drawing in as large a breath as he could, Nicholas renewed his grip on his Tonfas and swung up at the Feldstein’s arms, striking again and again, each time a bright red shielding circle appearing to block his path just before his Devices would have connected.

“I already told you that wouldn’t work,” chided Lester.

“L…” growled Nicholas, feeling the makeshift flail press harder to his abdomen as he released his breath, “pierce.” [Pierce Dive] confirmed the mage’s device as he swung its tail end around to attack, the magical spike sending bright sparks bounding off the newly-created shield.

“Useless!” Lester shouted, and moved to perform the final push that would finish off the younger man. However, as he moved his controls he strangely didn’t complete the motion he had hoped for. Once again adjusting a lever, Lester was even more confused as his machine refused to obey him. Then, the impossible happened as he saw the Feldstein’s arms begin to bend back as if they were being pushed back. Beneath the flaring competition between L and the Archous Pillar’s barrier, Nicholas had created a Tri-Shield between himself and the Feldstein’s former hands. Having seen that the barrier deflected all his aggressive actions, Nicholas had bet on the notion that it wouldn’t react to a defensive skill and won, mostly because the Pillar was acting as the Feldstein’s main power source, as well. With the Lost Logia’s attention divided, so-to-speak, Nicholas was able to push back the mecha’s arms just as much as he needed, and took the largest breath of air he thought he had ever inhaled in his life.

Shifting the direction of his push, Nicholas then slid most of himself out from under the Feldstein’s assault and rolled to the right. After its crushed hands received another dent from slamming into the empty space Nicholas left behind, the Feldstein seemed at a loss momentarily, giving him some extra time to get to his feet, an exercise that sent a jolt of pain through him starting at the wound in his torso. The dumbfounded and enraged Lester took the most obvious course of action: try and hit Nicholas again. Swinging the Feldstein’s arms towards the mage, they were again stopped, but not by any shield. Nicholas’s previous Wheeling Ripper attacks on the machine’s right arm were preventing it from completing the motion. “L! Gun Form!” the embattled mage called out.
[Roger. Gun Form] complied his Device as he once again shifted his grip, holding the weapon like an oversized pistol as it transformed and loaded a cartridge. Raising his left-hand weapon to aim at the Feldstein’s cockpit, Nicholas fought back another jolt of pain from his previous wound before firing his first shot. The magic bullet slammed into the cracked area Nicholas had created earlier, forcing the visor to give way and shatter. His second and third shots hit the flinching Lester in the temple, knocking him out and leaving one final obstacle for Nicholas to deal with.

“R, Mode I!” [Stand by.] The sound of three cartridges being loaded echoed off the alleyway’s walls as Nicholas’s green Belka-style magic triangle appeared below his feet. A bright aura surrounded his right hand as the main body of R slid back behind it. “Im-!” Leaping off the Feldstein’s motionless arm, Nicholas aimed for the machination’s loudspeaker, driving his fist through the weaker metal. Feeling for the Lost Logia among the Feldstein’s inner workings, Nicholas grabbed it with two of his fingers before R’s body drove violently forward, diving deep into the robot’s gut. “-pactor!” As the young mage shouted R created a series of three kinetic bursts that wrecked the Feldstein from the inside-out. As Nicholas leapt clear, the mechanical monstrosity fell on its side with a loud thud as Lester lolled out the opening where his cockpit visor used to be. With a heavy sigh, Nicholas reverted from his Barrier Jacket back to his formal shirt and slacks, taking a moment to thank R and L before the orbiting TSAB cruiser transported him back to it. The local police would have to clean up after him.

Appearing in the cruiser’s large hall that held its transportation system, Nicholas was greeted by the two mages that had been standing by to potentially assist him.

“Great work, Iron Arm,” one said.

“That’s A-Rank for you,” the other commented. Nicholas didn’t respond, however, as the wounds from his battle were quickly catching up to him. His left arm clutched his right sternum, where the white of his shirt was slowly being stained with red. Seeing this, the mage that had spoken second moved towards him. “Here, let me get you to the infirmary.”

“I can walk,” Nicholas said coarsely, somewhat glaring at the other men before him.

“Okay…” the somewhat taken-aback mage replied. “Then… good luck with your recovery,” he added, extending his right hand for a shake. Nicholas glanced at the offered appendage for a moment, and his mind flashed back to just a while ago, when he had shook Lester’s hand. 'All the same,' Nicholas thought to himself. The same disgusting feeling rose up in his gut that he felt before, and an awkward silence hung in the air as he did nothing.

Man, don’t push it. This guy just doesn’t like people, the other support mage telepathically spoke to his compatriot. Another moment passed in silence before Nicholas broke it, shaking off his former distaste.

“Sorry,” he said as he lifted his right hand, shaking with the younger mage. “I guess I’m not used to such attention anymore.” With that, he made his way between the two backup mages, heading down the lofty corridor towards the infirmary.

Weary, we trudged through the doors. We were strung out in a line each of us supporting one another. Vita, the reason behind our defeat walked in front of us, chatting with Shari who had been in control of the drones and Takamachi Nanoha, the Ace of Aces, one of a number of respected individuals within the organisation. At the end of our line walked the boy Erio supported by Caro who was in turn supported by Iza. Tuala leant on my right shoulder, obviously more exhausted than I had thought. I felt a twinge of guilt for forcing her to carry Erio during the exercise. ‘I’ll talk to her later on and see if she wants anything.’

Her suggestion to use Erio as a hostage had nearly worked but still sat ill on my conscience. This stain on my morals had grown darker as we wrapped up and we had a chance to talk to our opponents in person. It surprised us to discover that the pair were only 12/13 and that the other two Subaru and Teana were only a little older at 16/17. Even though I’ve been with the TSAB for nearly 2 years now, it is still weird to see children in the line of fire, regardless of their ability.

At the far end of the room, all of the officers who had been present at the start of the exercise were waiting. Nudging Tuala gently, I cleared my throat. The others looked at me as I did before following my gaze. Together we straightened, heads up facing the group.

The shortest among the group stepped forward, short brown hair framing her face. “At ease,” she said, her voice, though soft held an air of experience. “No need to be so formal, especially after nearly three hours out there. As the commanding officer, I’d like to welcome you all to Mobile Division 6. I trust that our facilities met your standards.” She was the same person who had addressed us this morning, just before we started. Something about her was familiar and I struggled to remember where I had seen her before.

“Now if you would follow me, refreshments are available in the adjoining room, where we will go over the exercise,” pointing to her left at a small door. As with the rest of the buildings in the complex, the room showed little sign of use, chairs stacked neatly to one side, mountains of salad and pasta heaped upon a table opposite. The weight pressing against me disappeared as the forwards moved towards the food, Subaru, Teana and Erio each picking up a huge bowl each, filling them with completely before heading towards the tables. Caro waved at us from another, where she was gathering the cutlery. “Could you help me with the plates?” she asked.

“Sure.” I picked up a stack of eight, and together we made our way over to the others. As I passed the plates around, I took the time to look around the room another time. The Weavers were to our left, sitting with Instructor Takamachi and another, dressed in the black of the enforcers, in rapid conversation. My eyes widened as I realised who it was, Fate Tesstarossa, one of the youngest to have ever qualified as an Agent. It was surprising to me to see someone of her abilities involved in this unit. Although it seemed to be similar in scope to the ESO corps, none of their force members seemed to be at a sufficient level to warrant the resources currently assigned for their training. At their current levels, 1 or 2 trainers at ESO level would be sufficient, but from the data available on the unit, their trainers can both be considered Agents within the Enforcers.

“So what’s the normal day like here?” Tuala asked them.

“It’s not too bad I guess,” Subaru said between mouthfuls, “The work is much tougher here, compared to our last unit, especially the training.” Pausing, she looked at the others, “Don’t you think?”

“Agreed,” Erio and Caro said, simultaneously, while raising their hands. Seconds passed before they noticed, realisation of what had happened manifesting on their faces, both of them turning red.

“It’s training, training and more training here. The only time we’re not training during the day is if we get called on a mission. Either that or time for food.” Teana said, sighing. “Don’t misunderstand me…. I don’t mind all the training… It’s helped a lot but sometimes I just wish that something would happen.”

Her last comment made me look up from my plate. Tuala and Valivis had also stopped, forks and spoons in midair. Our eye’s met…

“Ehh, did I say something weird?” Teana asked, looking down to her left.

I could see the hint of a smile on Valivis’ face, Tuala was positively beaming and I’m sure my own would be mirroring Valivis’. I spoke up, “When things truly get busy, you’ll be eating those words and wanting to go back into training, I guarantee it.”

Valivis picked up where I left off, “What he means is that this time you have now is a blessing. It may not feel like it now, but when the time comes and you’re constantly on one mission or another, you’re going to be wishing that it could just be training.”

“Although the 4 of us have only been together for a few months, we’ve already many experiences of working with the Weavers on a number of their missions. Even before the squad was completed, Isamu and I did a short stint on board the Tempest. It was one of a trio of ships that had been sent to stop weapons smuggling between the TSAB and the non-administrated worlds in sector 629. A few days of intel gathering, before we started the raids. Every day, more of the syndicate’s bases were attacked, short but hard attacks. Near the end of the operation, we were being teleported from one mission to another, reinforcing the squads that needed it. We were all completely exhausted by the time we located their main stronghold. They were preparing to run at that point, sensor coverage showed areas of land that had been previously occupied. To stop more of them getting away, we launched immediately….” Tuala faltered, her voice trailing away.

The memories of that day still remained fresh in our minds, a constant reminder for Tuala and me about the fragility of our lives. I reached over and grasped her hand, wrapping my fingers around hers, squeezing gently. “Most of the details about that mission have been classified…. But to say that it was a FUBAR just gives it an impression that it was easier than it actually was. The weapons they carried cut through our ranks; a squad of men was annihilated completely in seconds. The arrival of the reserves from the Tempest and other ships in the battle group helped us to reinforce our breach within their complex, but we lacked the firepower to break through until the arrival of the Weavers and the Hunters 2 days later.”

Silence greeted me. I realised that everyone in the room had turned their attention on us. I gulped as Myristic stood, the sound of his chair moving back echoing around the room. He slowly made his way over to us, his face grim and I fought the urge to run, run before he got to us. “Like the Weaver’s have said, don’t be too hasty to get into action. The longer you have to prepare, the better you’ll be able to cope with what happens on the battlefield.” He levelled his gaze at Teana. “Your missions have been successes so far, but one day you’ll fail. Be it the death of a comrade, injury or the inability to complete your mission, how you respond then is what matters. The TSAB tries to avoid the use of lethal force, but sometimes death is the only option. Are you ready for that responsibility?”

Silence reined once more as Valivis and the forward members thought about Myristic’s words. “We’ll have to wait and see won’t we,” Valivis said, “Although it’s likely that I’ll be the first to answer that question, given that I’m an enforcer.”

Myristic nodded, “Hopefully that day will be long in coming.” Addressing the others he said, “Think long and hard about why you’re here, what you want to achieve. If the possibility of dealing with death and the taking of life isn’t part of what you want, I hope you seriously consider transferring within the organisation to another division.” He turned away and walked back to the others, leaving us to think about his words.

Noticing that the forwards hadn’t touched their plates, Tuala urged them to eat, “You can think about what he just said while you eat you know. It won’t be good if you faint later in the day from not eating properly.”

The next 10 minutes passed quietly at our table, each of us digging in, replenishing the energy that we had used earlier in the morning, the mountain of pasta and salad in the centre of the table disappearing at an alarming rate. “Did any of you want any more?” I asked. Everyone at the table shook their heads, continuing to eat as they did. I caught the eye of Teana, who had just finished. “You did quite well today, considering what happened.” I said.

“Hmmm….. not really. I never managed to use my illusions. Otherwise I should have been able to get away.” She sighed deeply, “The moment I get into a melee battle, I always end up on the losing side… Going to have to work on that since I’m planning on becoming an enforcer in the future.”

“Really?” Tuala replied. “Well, I guess this means that you’ve already thought about what the captain discussed earlier.”

“A little….” As she started to reply, the Weaver’s stood, David called across the room, “Apologies for the interruption, Blades ATTEND,” Pointing to a door that I hadn’t noticed before. We scrambled, our departure rattling the plates still on the table.

[Oops.. Isamu, could you get the forwards as well. This will be relevant to them also.]

I came to a stop halfway across the room. Turning back to see the forwards looking at me quizzically, I called them over, pointing at the group and then at the door to try and indicate that they were wanted also. Thankfully, they were able to figure out what I was trying to tell them, the noise of conversations preventing me from calling out to them. Meeting them at the door, I held it open as they filed through before entering myself.

Inside, all hints of the outside world disappeared, not a sound could be heard from the adjacent room. A number of screens opposite me displayed vision from the skirmish, to their left the Weavers stood along with the other members of the division’s command staff. “If everyone could find a seat, we’ll begin,” Myristic said from behind the lectern. “I’ll try and keep this as brief as possible since much of this is irrelevant to the others. Blades, you’ll be seeing a detailed report on any errors today, large and small, once we get back to base.” Behind him, the display flickered before settling on our first human contact with the enemy.

“I’m sure it’s quite clear to you all now….. Keep an eye on the sky at all times. Aerial mages will be a massive problem, even if all they do is keep their eyes on you.” The display altered again, this time to video footage of the battles between Teana, Subaru Iza and I. “Not much to say on my team.” Myristic raised the question to the room, “Any comments for the forwards?”

I raised my hand. “We talked a little about it over brunch. Their problem stemmed from being split up against superior opponents. The two of them together would have been a match for me and Iza separately.. once we had engaged, better efforts should have been made to get back to their squad partner.” Myristic nodded and with a slight gesture of his hands, motioned me to continue. “I do admit that it is much easier said than done, but given Subaru’s advantage in manoeuvrability, she should have been able to shake Iza, to make her way back to Teana.”

From the front of the room came another voice, “I’ll see what we can do about that…. But I’m not sure the forwards want to be doing more exercises every day.” I could hear muffled groans just in front of me from the forwards. Suppressing a smile, I waved at Myristic to continue.

“I’d like to ask the opinion of everyone in this room whether this was an appropriate action or indeed if it was necessary.” His eye’s swept the room, his gaze resting on us for seconds before continuing. The screens behind the captain flipped to Erio during his time as a hostage. “I understand already that Isamu is against it entirely.. however…. There have been documented cases within the ESO’s about the taking of hostages during active combat missions. Cases in which they have gotten away with further injury to their teams.”

Tuala shot to her feet, “Before anyone else speaks, taking Erio hostage was a perfectly valid way to end the scenario. We very nearly succeeded as well, only the last second cage by the Lieutenant left us with no other choice than to nullify all magic within that area, leading to our capture. If those drones had been manoeuvred a second later, we would all have managed to move into the effective teleporter range.”

“Your logic makes sense. Although I hope that you’re prepared for the consequences of your actions,” the officer replied.

Tuala dropped back into her seat with an hmpf, signalling her wish to stop the conversation. Whispered conversations took place around the room for the next minute, before Myristic spoke once more. “Well if that’s it, we’ll stop this now.” He was greeted with nods by all present. “Time to get onto our last joint activity of the day then.” We looked at him in puzzlement. ‘I can’t remember there being anything else to do today’. “The Weavers and I will be showing you how it’s supposed to be done.” He continued with a grin.

“Eeeehhh!!!”

Our jaws must have dropped in amazement. “You do know that I’m not just a desk worker right……”

“O…Of course we do…. It’s just a surprise…. A really big surprise…” Valivis stammered.

Ignoring us now, he walked out with the Weavers, nodding at the other officers in the room. “Let’s have a good time out there.”

“Don’t think you’ll win so easily now!” They called back at him.

Now we haven't been given any info about how the enforcers are made up so I've made some stuff up for them.

We already know that the Enforcers are with the Navy, so I've made them work like the Marines. Each ship will have a complement of Enforcers which will deal with things that need boots on the ground.

Ranking within the enforcers: However, all are referred to as Enforcers.

Enforcer- standard ship board grunts 10<x<20 (ie, grunts seen during S1, S2) The Blades are currently here.

Enforcer Spec-Op (ESO) - Higher trained enforcers, capable of working alone, but usually operating in smaller groups 5<x<10. Given more dangerous tasks, ie, hostage rescue, extraction, sabotage- (in RL, the Spec-Ops missions) (Weavers, Hunters )

Agent: The most elite of the bunch, usually working alone, or leads a group of ESO’s on missions. (Fate, Chrono,…….) (Spec-Ops tasks, tasks more suited to one person.)

Just got around to reading this. (missed it the first time it was posted) It was nice and I like this allot it’s kind of the same vibe I’m going for with my best. (though not quite as grudge match’ish obviously.) Though the perspective and the conversions where a bit hard to follow in places as I had trouble trying to tell who exactly was talking at times without rereading scenes and making some guess. I managed to piece together that it was Signum talking for instance, but only because it was mentioned as the “officer that greeted them” several chapters back for someone that hadn’t read the latest chapters in order and didn’t recall that small detail it might have been confusing.

This is part of why I’ve always preferred third person, you can just use the names in descriptions without worrying about if the characters acutally know them or not, among other things. Still I did like and the different writing style isn’t bad either, just not my personal preference.

As for Hostage taking…
O’Neil: I also whole heartedly endorse this, might I also suggest taking objects important to the enemy hostage as well?

“…I can hear you,” Nicholas’s voice nonchalantly responded over the bridge’s comm.

“Hold on,” an operator responded. “We can get you out of there in a minute!”

“No!”

“What do you mean, ‘no?’”

“I’ve still got a chance against him,” Nicholas answered.

“This guy’s not thinking straight,” another operator said under his breath. “Should we send in reinforcement Mages?”

“We’re ready to go any time,” came the voice of a mage as his face appeared on a hovering display.

“That won’t do,” the captain responded. “We can’t make such a sudden intrusion into a Non-Administered world, no matter how we cover our tracks. But, that man Cartwright is using the Lost Logia rather small-mindedly…”

“Just leave it to-nngh!”

Nicholas couldn’t finish his sentence as the Feldstein increased its pressure on his body. The clasped hands that had been partially crushed by his Intercept Crush now had the shape of a hastily crumpled sheet of aluminum foil, and a sharp corner was starting to dig into his right side. At the moment Nicholas wasn’t sure if the fact that he hadn’t been crushed yet was due to the fact that it couldn’t add force with the disabled right leg or perhaps that Lester wanted to have some more fun with him. Drawing in as large a breath as he could, Nicholas renewed his grip on his Tonfas and swung up at the Feldstein’s arms, striking again and again, each time a bright red shielding circle appearing to block his path just before his Devices would have connected.

“I already told you that wouldn’t work,” chided Lester.

“L…” growled Nicholas, feeling the makeshift flail press harder to his abdomen as he released his breath, “pierce.” [Pierce Dive] confirmed the mage’s device as he swung its tail end around to attack, the magical spike sending bright sparks bounding off the newly-created shield.

“Useless!” Lester shouted, and moved to perform the final push that would finish off the younger man. However, as he moved his controls he strangely didn’t complete the motion he had hoped for. Once again adjusting a lever, Lester was even more confused as his machine refused to obey him. Then, the impossible happened as he saw the Feldstein’s arms begin to bend back as if they were being pushed back. Beneath the flaring competition between L and the Archous Pillar’s barrier, Nicholas had created a Tri-Shield between himself and the Feldstein’s former hands. Having seen that the barrier deflected all his aggressive actions, Nicholas had bet on the notion that it wouldn’t react to a defensive skill and won, mostly because the Pillar was acting as the Feldstein’s main power source, as well. With the Lost Logia’s attention divided, so-to-speak, Nicholas was able to push back the mecha’s arms just as much as he needed, and took the largest breath of air he thought he had ever inhaled in his life.

Shifting the direction of his push, Nicholas then slid most of himself out from under the Feldstein’s assault and rolled to the right. After its crushed hands received another dent from slamming into the empty space Nicholas left behind, the Feldstein seemed at a loss momentarily, giving him some extra time to get to his feet, an exercise that sent a jolt of pain through him starting at the wound in his torso. The dumbfounded and enraged Lester took the most obvious course of action: try and hit Nicholas again. Swinging the Feldstein’s arms towards the mage, they were again stopped, but not by any shield. Nicholas’s previous Wheeling Ripper attacks on the machine’s right arm were preventing it from completing the motion. “L! Gun Form!” the embattled mage called out.
[Roger. Gun Form] complied his Device as he once again shifted his grip, holding the weapon like an oversized pistol as it transformed and loaded a cartridge. Raising his left-hand weapon to aim at the Feldstein’s cockpit, Nicholas fought back another jolt of pain from his previous wound before firing his first shot. The magic bullet slammed into the cracked area Nicholas had created earlier, forcing the visor to give way and shatter. His second and third shots hit the flinching Lester in the temple, knocking him out and leaving one final obstacle for Nicholas to deal with.

“R, Mode I!” [Stand by.] The sound of three cartridges being loaded echoed off the alleyway’s walls as Nicholas’s green Belka-style magic triangle appeared below his feet. A bright aura surrounded his right hand as the main body of R slid back behind it. “Im-!” Leaping off the Feldstein’s motionless arm, Nicholas aimed for the machination’s loudspeaker, driving his fist through the weaker metal. Feeling for the Lost Logia among the Feldstein’s inner workings, Nicholas grabbed it with two of his fingers before R’s body drove violently forward, diving deep into the robot’s gut. “-pactor!” As the young mage shouted R created a series of three kinetic bursts that wrecked the Feldstein from the inside-out. As Nicholas leapt clear, the mechanical monstrosity fell on its side with a loud thud as Lester lolled out the opening where his cockpit visor used to be. With a heavy sigh, Nicholas reverted from his Barrier Jacket back to his formal shirt and slacks, taking a moment to thank R and L before the orbiting TSAB cruiser transported him back to it. The local police would have to clean up after him.

Appearing in the cruiser’s large hall that held its transportation system, Nicholas was greeted by the two mages that had been standing by to potentially assist him.

“Great work, Iron Arm,” one said.

“That’s A-Rank for you,” the other commented. Nicholas didn’t respond, however, as the wounds from his battle were quickly catching up to him. His left arm clutched his right sternum, where the white of his shirt was slowly being stained with red. Seeing this, the mage that had spoken second moved towards him. “Here, let me get you to the infirmary.”

“I can walk,” Nicholas said coarsely, somewhat glaring at the other men before him.

“Okay…” the somewhat taken-aback mage replied. “Then… good luck with your recovery,” he added, extending his right hand for a shake. Nicholas glanced at the offered appendage for a moment, and his mind flashed back to just a while ago, when he had shook Lester’s hand. 'All the same,' Nicholas thought to himself. The same disgusting feeling rose up in his gut that he felt before, and an awkward silence hung in the air as he did nothing.

Man, don’t push it. This guy just doesn’t like people, the other support mage telepathically spoke to his compatriot. Another moment passed in silence before Nicholas broke it, shaking off his former distaste.

“Sorry,” he said as he lifted his right hand, shaking with the younger mage. “I guess I’m not used to such attention anymore.” With that, he made his way between the two backup mages, heading down the lofty corridor towards the infirmary.

Really like the premise of the story.

Well it's a good start to something... The end of the battle is well written with no obvious shortcomings, showing a nice array of moves and abilities.

Possible avenues to explore:
How the lost Logia got there in the first place.
Someone back at HQ noticing his efforts and snatching him for some operation elsewhere.
Or just plain character development... while he's recovering from his injuries. Ie expanding upon what you started at the end with the "this guy doesn't like other people" thought.

Yeah, given that it's been 2 months since that part was posted, I didn't really think anyone would make the connection.... Could you point me to a place where you found it hard to figure out who was speaking. I'm always trying to improve my writing... plus I'm not like the other's who colour code their conversations, since I feel that you should be able to tell who's speaking from the clues that the writer provides.. However I'm aware of what you're saying, which is why I've tried to keep the number of different point's of view to a minimum, 2 main's thus far (Isamu and Myristic) and Nanoha in one small section.

Interesting that you say that on the point of view... Back in the thread somewhere (don't ask me where..) I had commented that I wanted to switch over to the 3rd person style. While my future fics will be done in 3rd person, I started this in 1st person and am going to finish it in 1st person. Although I'd like to try and convert it over later, it'll require quite a bit of re-working what I've already written.

I'll have to have a look at that you-tube vid once I get back home.
