This translation methodology discussion is interesting, but not really best-suited for this particular topic. I also imagine that should be a number of other similar topics elsewhere, since this issue comes up from time-to-time.
I'd ask that we try to keep this thread more focused on this particular anime.

To be told, I'm actually really scared. My expectation for this series as a whole and for certain scenes are currently so high I don't know if it's even possible to match it. I mean I can't help but feel some how, some way, censorship is going to make its way into this series. I just hope NOTHING gets blacked out or represented in a way that makes it less "steamy".

New Nisemonogatari trailer was broadcasted on TOKYO MX earlier.
(Edit: It's now online: see link above.) Official site countdown: and happy new year, everyone! (at least in JST ) Last edited by sirn; 2011-12-31 at 10:23. |

Since I view anime and original source as separate I don't care what was throw or redone as long it feels rigth. Since I don't read novels it's ll new to me. My only expectations are:
1) Not over the top phylosocial, draggy dialogues. 2) Not too experimental (wonder if there will be Madoka references?) 3) Hope new cast won't mess up. My concern goes to Iguchi and Maya - Kamiya gives me too much Arakawa vibes. Well as long there will be some Mayoi and Kanbaru it can't be bad. |

...You want that from Nisio novel?

The thing is that its Recruit who has Araragi vibe, not Araragi having Recruit vibe.... >_>

Of course, that's just my opinion. It's not like I hate Recruit or something. Just that I don't like him as much as other characters of Kamiya. And no, I'm not an Izaya fan (It's funny, but even if I really enjoy him a lot as Araragi, I like Kamiya the most in his "nice young man" roles, like in Natsume Yuujinchou). Gosh! I really enjoy explain myself again and again.
1) What i ment is certain shows suffer from long dialogs the reason why i dropped C3 and Majikoi. There was not much to read between the lines. Bake had plenty of jabs flying around but Nisio is in dangerzone it can change pretty quickly. Part of me always wished Bake would pumped on action part. 2) I personally don't want to see more than it had been real life bodies flying around, hands in cast, collage. 3) As for VA I guess my expectations are too high. Geh it only will lead to overcriticism and disapointments. |

I mean, you are contradicting yourself. I'm not even sure if you watched Bakemonogatari, at least according to your 'overcriticism' and 'disapointments'.

I thought Nisemonogatari is even more extreme in terms of getting off-the-road with dialogues. Nisio himself said he wrote it with 200% hobby attitude. That is something that Candyshark was mentioning, I think.
