While I'm still not going to get one, this is good news. If the XBone did implode completely then Sony would really be the only one left standing and they'd get lazy. If this hurts Microsoft enough for them to know better going forward while still leaving them as a competitor that's fine.
Let's just hope they don't pull a 180 on their policies after they get some consoles sold. And yeah, the Kinect always connected is still creepy.

It seems that due to the policy changes they have scrapped Family Share and maybe even other unknown features. The XBox One still requires that when you first boot it up you're connected to the internet to release the lock. So those outside the 21 supported Countries shouldn't bother trying to import a XBox One as it will not work for you due to that requirement. |

Eh, the lack of RPGs/Strategy games on the 360 compared to the much larger library on the PS3/PSP/DS for that department has convinced me that the XBox One isn't going to be a system that caters to my interest. That and nearly all the Japanese games I imported were on the PS3 and PSP and the DS SRW games.
So my mind isn't changed over this as I was never the type of consumer they even wanted in the first place. My brother in the military should at least get his Halo in now. I'll have to unlock the XBox One for him if he's unable to before being sent overseas. |

Btw notice that the 1 is actually better than the 360 now. The same set of restrictions apply except region locking which is good news if we get more stuff like the original idolm@ster. (yeah, I know that there's a better chance of hell freezing over but it's still something worth pointing out)

How would they be? They sell you a product under the premise that it operates a certain way. If they change that policy so that it no longer works that way, and you can no longer use said product, how would they be safe from being sued?
This is different from when the PS3 removed linux support. That was a single function of the product. This would be the entirety of the product's ability to be used. |
