Building a Media Centre PC
I'm on a bit of budget and want to build a media centre PC. I mainly plan on watching anime and music with it but I still need to be able to do some photo editing and video editing, my most resource intensve task would be recording audio. No real gaming, I prefer to use consoles for that
What do you guys think of these setups? AMD Motherboard Asus M2V TVM Processor AMD AM2940 Dual core 3800+ Video Card +256mb Sapphire X1950GT 1 gig Ram +LG dual layer burner 16x Seagate SATA 320 gig Intel Motherboard Asus p5VDC MX Processor Pentium d820 Video Card +256mb Asus7300GS 1 gig Ram +LG dual layer burner 16x Seagate SATA 320 gig20 Power Supply will Antec Smartpower2 500w, CoolerMAster R80 cooling system Your thoughts? Oh yes, bear in Mind I am in Australia so we pay close to 2.5 time what you guys pays in the US. CPU: better get a core 2 duo one with 4Mb cache.
video card: +256mb Sapphire X1950GT is way way way better than +256mb Asus7300GS memory: it depends on how much you use. I rather have 2 gig so I can turn off the swapfile.

Getting rid of excess heat can be a real problem, and Tiberium Wolf is right to recommend the Core 2 Duo; they run cooler than the Pentium D.
You tried the usual online search comparisons here in Australia? You know, StaticIce and the like. |
