The game is set in Goryōkan Academy, a new private senior/junior high school for girls with a vast downtown campus. This highly popular school has "another face" — a secret hidden side. It organizes and trains the special unit Fifth Force to protect the world from invisble supernatural entities known as "Oburi" that are devouring the world. A team of five trained with powers against the Oburi is to be chosen from the student body to perform missions. A new team leader has been appointed to assenble the five students.

HOLY SHIT YES!!!!

My favorite mobage is getting animated! Add to the fact seeing some of my favorite characters getting animated and being made by J.C Staff also helped. I actually didn't expect to come this sooner even I predicted it'll have an anime much later. Still glad to see it happening, it potentially looks and sounds much better than your average anime of its genre too.

Good choice to adapt. Established world. Huge cast with every of archetype character and already determined relationship. Considering the game already have clear story line already, this will be a bit like a light novel adaptation instead of other (not so successful) card-game adaptation

Would have preferred someone like KyoAni through, due to the goofy SoL/adventure nature of the game. J.C. Staff ? The anime probably will be a fair bit more serious

J.C. Staff has had a good track record with SOL stuff lately, and on a whole their record isn't bad. As for adventure, they did DanMachi a few seasons back, which was an adventure with both comedic and serious elements, and it was well received.

I don't know anything about this game, and I admit that mobile game adaptations often turn out more miss than hit with me, but I'm willing to give this a shot based on J.C. Staff's past performance.

J.C. Staff also adapted Amanchu!, which is as SoL as you can get, and it turned out very well.

Since you guys played this, can you confirm that there are no self-insert male characters in it? Or any manufactured romance at all?

It's the first thing I fear when I hear of Mobage after all.

From what I've played, the game is basically like KanColle and Touken Ranbu in that you play as a leader that appoints multiple characters of the opposite gender and then trains them to fight opponents. In this game, the creators have never specified what gender the player's leader is, but it does implies it plays like an harem scenario.

The anime will be an all-girl casted action series based on the first impressions.

Actual there is an insert, if your girl reach lvl 100, you can hear their confession (more like admiration confession, as some of them say they don't want to keep you only for herself). I can't understand Japanese that well, but I believe its/ her (the player) identity is a spoiler...

I have my own theory and how it relates to your question, but once again: don't understand Japanese so well+ potential spoiler = can't really answer it. But no outrightly main character dude being surrounded by girls for sure (or at least that's what i hope).



On slightly different topic. Let's just say the story and set-up is fairly complicated (and really good if I understand it correctly). Like you really need to understand the dialogue to understand the ending of the first season. Instead of just magical girls vs world monsters nuking out each other. That is the reason why i have my own theory about the player identity. Someone who knows better may correct me on this?

This looks like a very stiff JC Staff production. I see no effort from the PV alone. Sad because when JC Staff tries they can make stunning visuals. The CG is basic and the character animation and designs are very rigid.

I agree that the characters feel a bit stiff in their expressiveness/movements, but I think overall what I saw in the PV looked clean. This seems like a middle of the road series I could get behind. Something to watch on "off days". Will keep an eye on it.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

Personally, I think the premiere is very good. Besides doing the usual introduction and overall setting to the audience through narration, the thing I actually really love about it is that the interactions had a little sense of realism and act like real friends each other and I doubt romantic subtext will be here, even if it's just a little and at most it would just be romantic friendship for some potential characters given the overall tone. The story seems vague at the moment, but at most it intrigued us with a terminology that would extend further, such as the seven mysteries and what lies to the O'Bli besides. Being a gamer, I'm happy they introduced almost all of the characters, although I'm disappointed team Chocolat Mira is not here but if they do, that would be spoiler.

As for the technical details, the artwork's nothing special, but it is animated decently and the background art is shown with exquisite details. The soundtrack is like a collection of remixed tracks from the game, so that's a plus.

The one thing I really hoped for SS is that it should focus a lot on characters in order for them to be likable and so far Nishikiori did a pretty god job at it, it could have been done better later and it's perfect. The genre combinations it fall into are one of my favorites in anime, since I've enjoyed Vividred Operation and Wish Upon the Pleiades (although it is more similar to the latter) for similar reasons. Hope this keep up.

Seems a pretty competent adaptation for now.
I personally feel they should follow the Ange Vierge route (which, IMO, it's the most well done mobage adaptation for now), but we'll see.

With JC Staff doing so many shows this season and this being "low key" (not really, but just for the sake of categorizing) I fear this may be the one hit most with possible animation quality drops though.
