From what appears to be the backdrop of PR, it seems Osaka is pretty much history.

I heard one of the reason why Osaka doesn't get destroyed, especially the Hankyuu/Hanshin areas, is because it's the home ground of Toho.

Because kaiju tend to love stomping on Tokyo every time, and not giving a hoot about the 2nd biggest metropolis.

So, if we talk about "stomping Osaka", some other Kaijus already did it before Pacific Rim like I already said and proven. Just watch Godzilla vs Biollante (one of the examples). The king of monsters destroyed a lot (if not most) of buildings and landmarks in Osaka in that movie.

Anyway, if you meant "any Kaiju before this never completely destroyed Osaka", just say so from the beginning.

A couple things gleaned off that trailer:

Spoiler:

- Apparently Striker Eureka is about to be decommissioned. I thought it was one of the most recent units (as well as the only one that is still active in ANZAC according to that news bulletin), so why are they shutting it down while older Jaegers are still being pushed to the frontlines?
- Poor Cherno Alpha. We hardly knew you.
- Eight Chinooks are required to airlift a Jaeger. A single Boeing CH-47F (one of the latest and most powerful models) can haul 28,000lbs (internally, though - I don't know about the external payload specs), so even eight of those would be nowhere near powerful enough to lift a 2,500-ton frame...unless they received one hell of an engine upgrade. O_o
- I think you still need a bigger boat.
- Looks like Rodan had enough of the Godzilla franchise and tried a career change, preferring an international audience to his domestic one.
- Mecha parade? I pity the streets' asphalt...

It seems that Crimson Typhoon makes a last stand against two Kaiji though Eureka shouldn't be far behind unless it got taken out too.
