I don't know. IMO she'll still come to AFASG too since she's been coming there since 2008.

Unfortunately I live in another province, so I don't really know. I believe the places around there are expensive, though... but I can ask my friends if there are any reasonable options.

That depends on your university rules, are they strict or not most universities over here allow us to skip about 3 times for each subjects (minimum 75% attendance). Hell, one of my friend dares to skip classes for events like this. He said that he could retake the subjects next year while the event guests might come only once.

Culture Japan Convention 2013, Penang

Coming August 17 -18 in Penang, Malaysia, the first Culture Japan Convention by Danny Choo will be happening!

As part of Danny Choo’s Culture Japan brand, this will be the first convention held by Danny Choo. The convention will be welcoming various guest from around the world including the rising cosplaying star, ANGIE. Other highlighted guests includes one of my favorite Jazz band, VIVIDBLAZE, and Seiyu, Asakawa Yuu.

Much as I would love to take a long drive up to Penang, I'm not keen to make the journey just to support Danny Choo. The guy's great and all, sure, but I think he already enjoys enough publicity.

And I really wish they'd stop using him as the AFA emcee. He sucks at it. He's terrible at hosting a show and even worse when conducting a panel "discussion" that's hardly a discussion. More like a private chat between him and the guest in front of a crowd.

Drive... Penang is 600+km from sg bro (that's close to double of the distance to KL from sg)
While I can do that, doing it over the weekend is somewhat over the top for me, too bad it was not during the long weekend... so it's a no go for me

The comments about Danny being the host is harsh... but I have to admit, I don't really like him as the emcee either

Damn,it's a 4 hours trip from my home to Penang.

Not interested in that event. Going to focus all my resources on AFA ID.

Turns out all I'll miss is a 2 hour lecture in a subject I'm good in anyway, because of how I arranged my timetable, so as long as I make it back to NUS by 8 am on Monday I'll be good.

...

Oh wait. I might need a wee bit more planning after all. Maybe I should return on Sunday night...
