Season 3 will be about Miyafuji being captured by the enemy and being neuroified, where she will become the enemy, and the Witches will lock and load to take her down/save her.
Reason for capture, Daddy Miyafuji will be at Neuroi homebase |

Damn, season two ended already? I'm still stuck on episode 3! I got started over the summer but stopped when I got really busy... looks like I have a lot of catching up to do.
And honestly, even after reading the spoilers, I still ship Minna/Trude.

x.x what a lame ending >< hope they keep the 501st going......This has way to much of a zero no tsukaima feel going lol echi for 3/4 of the anime then 1/4 of it is rushed story .
What ever still love it.

I think it could be cool though. At least certainly more so than seeing the old crew again. Especially for no reason after they have long since disbanded. Or maybe even cooler, have some of the 501 join up 504 after disbandment. |

I'm gonna miss this anime... with so many questions never answered
2nd season was good in a way that it had a lot of for-fans scenes like Mio x Minna, Ursula and Marseilles' appearance, Eila x Sanya, Charlotte x Barkhorn x Erica etc. without that, the plot was pretty.. ehm that image posted earlier looks like a new... season? it looks like the witch that the figurine Miyafuji got was based on lol I hope Miyafuji still has powers, because I really want to see Miyafuji "shousa" in the anime someday (I heard there was some kind of bad end where Mio dies and Miyafuji takes over her in some game..?)

The hero sacrificing oneself to save others has been a common motif since stories were told. Giving up the chance to fight again to ensure the safety of the greater good. It's a poetic thing, and has some messianic elements if the writers play it strong enough.

I think this was done purposely so that way the likely third season will follow in the same footsteps of the previous two seasons when it comes to the first two episodes (i.e. nothing really happens in the first episode as it's set mostly at Miyafuji's home town, with the second episode being where the real fun begins).

The more I think about it, while I did enjoy the last episode, I think the ending seems stupid. I mean, first we went from Yoshika's powers being too strong for her striker unit to handle (which was necessary for an upgrade,) to giving up her power just to destroy the hive with the Shinreppuzan. I mean being that her magic was very powerful to begin with, you would think that such an attack wouldn't drain all her magic completely.
I couldn't agree more with that idea. Though I hope the third Strike Witches anime would be better than season 2. |

First, they're all out of power. Then Yoshika has not only enough power to fly, but also to make shields and then to power the big sword like it's never been powered before. And she doesn't even know how to use it. Then they all have power enough to fight... Oh, what's the point? There were some great explosions and one-frame crotch shots. And the sight of the largest battleship ever built plunging head first into the ocean from a great height was quite amazing. I kept mumbling to myself "That is going to be one BIG splash!" I wonder what would really happen? I know water in that situation is like concrete, however this ship had probably 9" of streamlined solid steel bow armor and 1150 watertight compartments. I wonder if it wouldn't just bob right up to the surface almost as good as new? I think we should remember all the good things. All the cute girls and all the pantsu. We've been spoiled. We've had a steady diet of pantsu for 2 seasons. Pantsu don't grow on trees, you know! Before too long, we'll be sorely missing this ridiculous show. Expect pantsu withdrawal syndrome. Be aware of the symptoms to watch for!

Strike Witches became run off the mill moe fanservice show anyway..
It had a potential to be unique war military theme anime... but seems that Humikane and the production people chose another path and was more inclined to turn it into a fanservice centered franchise.. Well, I'll just respect him for that and still love his illustrations and all... but hey~ That's where the market is nowadays~ Not that I hate fanservice.. being a guy. it's a welcome bonus for me... but too much of everything is bad as they say ^^; I admit, giving this anime too much raised eyebrows and perhaps subtle bashing already so i apologize for that.. But my sentiment remains the same.. Strike Witches 2 was even more disappointing than Strike Witches 1 Yup, the final episode was so ridiculous... How can Yoshika even see a sword that's around 2000+ feet up and around some kilometers away from her whilst being obstructed by Yamato's Hull... How the heck did the girls recharge so fast? thought they were out of Magic energy? I think it's a sign of "Oh noes we're running out of screen time.. just make Yoshika ShinReppuzan this giant piece of red crystalline jelly!" Why did they run out of screen time? They focused their energies in "more important things" (fanservice? lol) as Humikane pointed out in that interview at Page 1 of this thread. Well at least most people seem to be happy ~ Anyways, I'll miss some things like those Striker Units... the Blockhead Trude and Erica ^ Anyway I have a figure of Hartmann so she's still with me in a sense ^^; All the engine sounds... pretty accurate sounds that made Shirley's P-51 breathe like P-51 and all the other Striker units ^ It's something insignificant but considering how other shows smacks in generic sound effects for their planes.. AIC did a great job.. Although I won't miss the pantsu and the crotch shots. There was so much in it I'm already puking LOL.. Anyway, call that my final rant or so... what's done is done.. I'm hoping for more Mecha Musume/Shoujo anime in the future... Hopefully, the Mecha Girl anime genre won't end with Strike Witches ^^
