I'm going to move my iTunes library to a new computer. I wanna back up my iTunes library. I looked for the way to back it up on an external HDD, and it isn't as straight forward as I think it should be. I can just put all my iTunes content on my iPod, deauthorize my current computer, and then put my iTunes library on the new computer via my iPod, right?

How do you back up Skyrim saves? Those are my only Steam saves worth saving. I've never done a back up of Steam game saves. Is it pretty simple? I'm going to put them on an external HDD.

You can't take music off your iPod and put it in to another computer via iTunes.

1. If you have an older iPod, you can copy the music off of the iPod when its a disk. The file names will be random, but the ID3 tags should still be there so stuff should still work.

2. For all iPods including iPhone, third party programs exist to move music from iPod to computer. I personally like SharePod.

Steam should cloud sync saves. If you want to it manually just in case. They should be at:
\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves

Didn't you ask about backing up your iTunes library a while back? It's not that difficult if you already let iTunes automatically manage where all your music (and other iTunes-related stuff) is located.

As for Skyrim saves, just wanted to point out that Steam should already automatically backup and sync your saves when needed, though having another backup doesn't hurt.

If you're using the default location for storing stuff downloaded from iTunes/the iPod, then it's just a matter of copying the whole folder to an external device and then copy it to the new computer in the same location.

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but if you connect the iPod to a computer with an empty iTunes library then it'll completely wipe the iPod instead of copying the contents over.

Not exactly.

If you connect an iPod with a computer that has a different library that you normally sync to, it won't sync automatically. If you force it to sync, it'll give you a warning message that it will wipe the iPod and put the new library's content into it.

So yes, syncing it with an empty library will end you up with an empty iPod instead of a full library, but it's not going to do it automatically.
