Anyway, great episode. Wish we knew what Akane answered at the end though. |

And Ishida Akira's character reminds me of Ryunosuke from F/Z The episode was pretty good, Akane is sooo cute. Shinya's reaction about the incident was pretty unexpected to me.

I liked the second ep tremendously. Why? Because it gave a lot of depth to Akane, who I feared to become a nuisance for a longer time (forgive me for my doubts, Gen-sama!). With this background, I feel that I understand her, including her doubts, and why she ended up where she is now. What's more, under hear tears it's clear that she's got the capacity to walk her path with conviction, once she knows what she wants to do. The determined Akane at the end of ep2 felt very likable to me, where I was merely lukewarm after ep1. This will be fun to watch
I'm very much a character-oriented viewer. All other characters on the team were developed nicely and distinctively, and with the logical consistency that I've come to appreciate from the Urobutcher's scripts. Glad to meet you, folks. I'm sure it will be an interesting ride! |

Looks like everybody likes to talk about their life stories in this anime.
But I guess I didn't mind too much since there was a lot of depth added to these characters in the process. Decent episode. I'm not totally blown away by the quality like Shinsekai Yori but it is a show that intrigues me.

Gotta have that lesbian sex.
Anyways, an OK episode. I think this will shape up to be a decent action show, but it feels just too conventional for me to call it great just yet (granted we are only two episodes in). Spoiler for Ep 2:

As expected, the system was solely defined by the enforcers and inspectors, which are basically "encouraged" by the guns, to the point it became an habit, so for a drastic and precise feature such as the psycho pass, they definitely hinder themselves by using the so called "latent criminal"...
Really, that just strengthen the statement that this system as a whole is flawed to no end, since it is momentum and highly circumstancial based, the latter being ignored by most of the sybil system crew. And the numbers determining even the fate of people who hardly had done anything by a long shot (latent criminal at 5? really...?) is textbook dystopia. Anyway, the episode was sort of okay, with the needed exposure regarding the actors behind the law enforcement system, although I'm not exactly sold by Akane's stance/motivations, nor Kogami's easy concent. At least the whole deal confirms there are a lot of loopholes with the system already (putting the mask issue aside), so things will probably go a tad more serious thereafter.

I was surprised at how pervasive the Sybil system was in society as a whole. I had thought it was used only for the justice system. But it directs much of the people's decisions. The thought is chilling to me although most of the citizens we seen so far obviously don't mind.
On a much more positive note, I love how technology has evolved. Holographic room decorations and clothing. Want your apartment to look like a fancy hotel room? Need to change clothes quickly? No problem. I could get into that.

I too had Kuragehime flashbacks at the start of the episode. Kurara! Tequila!
But something like that would be really really annoying to have. I did like the quick-change clothes though. More scene setting this episode, and pointing out the way their society works. |

Spoiler for reply:
A very nice episode overall, and I agree that ep1 and 2 should have aired back to back. It's very nice to see the motivation and the reason behind those characters. A good character building episode which also expands on the world. Do you have what it takes to be a mahou shoujo/hero of justice? (I feel like Urobuchi is still rehashing the same basic idea under different premise, but man I love the way he explore this particular theme)

Wow, what a really nice series. It has a feel of a little of all the great sci-fi stories on society. It was a little of Brave New World, Minority Report, Gattaca, and even Blade Runner. I was hungry for a good sci-fi, since almost all good sci-fi on TV have been canceled, and this one definitely fits the bill.
I really do love the creativity with the use of technology in the episode. I can't even imagine how it works the way it does, but it is cool, nonetheless. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this.
