It's not exactly time travel though. It's just the reincarnation of a soul into the past. I guess Azano wants to go the "time isn't linear" way with this.

Also, if Natsume truly dies and reincarnates as Hishamaru I hope that it'll end up in the same way as Harutora and Yakou. As in Hishamaru remembering her past life as Natsume.

It's still connected to 'time' and sending someone back to the past..... I do wonder how they sent her back. I don't think it's possible with their magic system (assuming). Did Yakoutora addressed a god of time and asked it to send her soul back to the past! or something?

If possible I just hope Natsume stays as Natsume and Hishamaru as Hishamaru.

I was referring to the theory that says time isn't linear. Rather, past, present and future are actually happening simultaneously. I don't really know much about that theory but if Azano decides to use it, there would be no need to use any sort of time magic.
Simple reincarnation magic would suffice.

I suggest you read Spirit Circle. It also deals with reincarnation in that way and is a really interesting read.

Honestly rather than spoilers we are going to have to see/read the actual source to understand what's going on here. I don't the concept is impossible but there blank holes all over the place and this sounds somewhat complex just throw a line or two at it.

If they share the same soul, then how can both exist simultaneously? Or is that explained by time travel shenanigans? If so, doesn't that mean the current Natsume basically "dies" and is reincarnated into Hishamaru in the past? If so, that's pretty crap, considering they are different people with different personalities that co-existed at the same time. (I really hope the author knows what he's doing with this plot point and had it planned for a long time).

Also, (this is more minor, but still) how's the whole Natsume/Harutora thing gonna work now. Is he just gonna go after Kon/Hishamaru after all this time? Or is Natsume gonna come back, and none of this will matter, and her and Kon will be different people? Or are Natsume and Hishamaru gonna combine (like Yakou and Harutora...)?
