lol I don't know why I'm suddenly getting so attached to the way Shana says Yuji's name.
I enjoyed the first episode enough to keep watching, just not feeling the hype I expected to feel. Guess it's cuz of how long it's been since I've ever watched anything Shana-related. I didn't think s2 was a let-down, but I did find most episodes in the first half to be awfully boring. Very interested to see how things will develope on Yuji's side of the story, along with how the series will finally be concluded. |

perfect... I know that there will be a lot of developments explained here but J.C. Staff unexpectedly explain everything in a very good order.... I enjoy it so much although I'm not novel's reader... I can grasp the situation so far.... that's why I can only say... "Poor Shana"
Yuji's new form is badass... the opening is dark while the ending is good darker plot in Shakugan no Shana... there will be a lot of battles and that's what I'm looking for... very very dark and depressing... lol |

Great way to start the final season! 9/10
It was great to see Shana and the rest again. The animation was pretty good too and I like the OP and ED. I though the transition was handled pretty well to be honest. Even anime only viewers should be able to grasp the situation a little. The animators deliberately left us in the dark about this new Yuji of course. We will have to think about what happened and we'll find out during the coming episodes. It wouldn't be fun if they explained everything right away, right. Now that would be boring storytelling in my opinion. And they already gave some good hints to work with: 1. Yuji feeling like he's too weak and wanting more and more power in season 2; 2. Johan sending Pheles somewhere in Season 2. This probably means something has been happening with the Reiji Maigo, since Johan knows a lot about the Reiji Maigo because he is inside it; 3. Sabrac saying to Bel Peol that he came to Misaki City for the Mystes and that he fullfilled his job in the end even though he lost the battle. Since he didn't do much with Yuji during this battle, he must have done something we don't know yet; 4. Yuji screaming he wants to protect everyone and especially Shana during the final arc of season 2; 5. Yuji's footsteps disappearing at the end of season 2, while saying: "This night when we saved the city....I changed my world a lot."; 6. The final part of the fourth OVA; 7. The beginning of this episode when Yuji says: Shana, I will change your fate. I've made my decision. That's why! 8. Yuji's talks with the 'anonymous voice' this episode. If I sum up these points up, I feel like everything has been leading up to this moment. Now we just have to find out what exactly Yuji became, why his existence has disappeared from the world, who the anonymous voice is, why he's with the Balle Masque and what his goal is. But there are plenty of episodes to find the answers to these questions. This was only the first episode after all. I have high hopes for this season!

Soooooooo let me get this straight.
The first season ended on a great note. The beginning of the second season resets all the character development from the end of the first. Then the end of the second season ends on what you can argue is a definite note. Somewhat. So now the third season resets even that? I don't really know what the hell to expect, but I mean that in a bad way. Yuji was entirely a throw away character for 1 1/2 seasons who magically became worthwhile towards the end of the second season. Now he's literally the title antagonist. At this point it just reeks of a forced plot device, but whatever. I'm fine with it. I feel like I'm obligated to finish this anyway. Kinda.

I think you can skip the entire first half that was infested bullshit melodrama in lieu of enjoying actual plot progression in the second half. Quote:
Thanks.

JC staff, why must you butcher what everybody loves? All my rage. I hope they can redeem themselves with this season.
With that being said, Chigusa doesn't remember her son anymore, . Makes me feel lonely as hell. Now for another week... Also, I felt Yuji should've just kept his short hair, not digging that long hair.
