By a setting I meant the world. What I meant by my question is what whether the stories in this and previous seasons are linked. Or if all that happened in last season never happened in this new story.

Oh I'm sure they're linked somehow, it might just be a while before we figure out exactly how.
In other news, the first chapter of the manga adaptation has hit the web in case people want to check that out. Seems like the first chapter covers the first anime episode so nothing really new yet.

Those other "moons" aren't moons, chapter 3 of the manga show what they are and I regret looking at it now. It will make for an awesome WTF! moment on the show.

Based partly on speculation and released info via interviews etc, if you re-call the ending of the first Last Exile, they had encountered a new world. I'd say there's a 99.99% chance that this is the setting for FAM (which has been stated to be the Earth, even if the geography doesn't seem to match anything currently existing on our planet

). Even though there are new characters, I wouldn't be surprised if some (if not all) the characters we saw going to the new world in the first series pop up in some way or another (even if it's just a cameo or two). It's already confirmed that Dio, Agnew, and Tatiana will play a part in FAM.

For people interested, Animax official Last Exile Fam website was updated with most of the characters translated (English) little "bio".

I wonder if it's just a coincidence that members of the Ades Federation look like Guild members.

It's actually missing a good nine characters but that's good enough for me. Just noticed however that Fam has a tail of sorts pinned to her fanny pack on her back, ooookay....

Anyone read the manga that just got scanlated? It looks like Dio will be either a main character or a very important secondary character.

Also, if the anime follows the manga, the first episode would be pretty epic (I remembered people complained that Last Exile took too long to get going).

Giselle has a tail pinned to her bag as well, I'm so confused....
And yes I read the first chapter and, not to say that much (or the mods will yell at us to get a manga thread) it really reminded me of the first episode of the original Last Exile so I'm betting that's not all there is to the plot/there are some subplots that will show up in the next few episodes.

I've seen real bag with "tail" like that, although most of the time the "strap" is made of leather not fur. They also have cat ears, you know (headgear earmuffs).

As for story composition, I expect the real story to start in episode 4-5 list the first series did. So the first 3 episodes are the introduction to the world.

Finally, there was an official twitter that mentioned the series start 2 years after the end of Last Exile. This mean Dio, Tatiana and Alister are 19 years old. Claus/Lavie are 17 and Al is only 13.

And the ending was announced: Starboard by Hitomi!

Yep, here's a link about the ending and, for people like me who aren't as familiar with Japanese singers, she also did the first ending so that'll give some nice continuity.

I thought Dio was underused in the original series, so I will only be happy if this is true!

I liked the new characters from what little I saw in that trailer. I am really looking forward to this! About one week left

Nah, I just don't think there would be much point in talking about it once the anime gets going and overtakes the manga version.

Last Exile - Travellers of the Hourglass - have much better art than Fam, the Silver Wing manga. It also explain what happened between the first and second series (to Claus and friends). I get the feeling Fam, the Silver Wing is going to rely on All There in the Manual once we meet these characters, because of this.

Also, that manga might require a thread, if it ever get a translation...

With episode one coming on Friday, I've made a characters/seiyuus page for this show. It gives pics of 22 characters and their seiyuus, with a bit of info about each character and about the seiyuu.

The info is mainly from the official site. Researching it certainly made things a lot clearer for me, especially learning a little bit about each of the many characters.

Miyuki Sawashiro has one of those voices I could make love to, which admittedly made watching Tegami Bachi really awkward.

Looks like Alistia got rid of her braid. Wish Tatiana had changed her hairstyle as well, though she at least looks a little less...round-faced (for lack of a better word) than she did in the first series, which may help to make her look a couple years older.

Awesome, that's about all I want to know and it's not really a spoiler as he's pretty prominent in the trailer and it's Dio so I always imagined he'll end up at least an important second character, he was always great. It sounded like the first ep was quite cool judging from the reactions/description of that Anime Expo screening ANN wrote up.

Official website mecha page was updated with the Ades flagships. They are color coded, so we shouldn't have any problem in identifying them in the show.
