Hmmm, I'm not real clear on what that implies for R1 land, hopefully good things soon.

Well, yeah, the rest of the news post explains further that that it doesn't necessarily mean that it's licensed for the U.S. - some shows have global licensing, and some only by region. We'll see what happens.

You're talking as though this is an American forum exclusively :P

Animesuki counts licenses regardless of whether they are European based or American based. As long as it's a license for an english speaking country then it's licensed.

Of course. Licensed is licensed; no doubt about that. But it's still somewhat less usual for it to happen in this order, that's all. Hence, we'll see what happens.

Not sure where you headed with that since I'm hoping it'll be licensed in the USA where it means its easier for me to buy --- Animesuki policy is completely irrelevant to that. I don't get the impression Vizeurope markets to the US.

Rule of US anime market #1: Manga is owned by shoujo, DVDs are owned by shounen.

It doesn't matter how amazing something is if it doesn't sell.

However, I am fairly certain Honey and Clover will get a release some time. It's just not as big of a priority.

But you seem to have forgotten (or not noticed) that vizeurope is part of viz-media and as they have to distribute through other companies (in the UK the do) and there are no dubbing studios that I know of that'll do a dub the licence might be passed onto the US side of things (also I think that is mainly for TV broadcast not for intended DVD release)

Well I'm happy that the "Honey and Clover won't be licensed for a long time" thing isn't true. Kind of disappointed it's only in Europe though. I hope this news means a US release is coming up soon so I can have some shiney H&C DVDs Then again, it's posted as broadcast, I'm not sure what that implies about possible DVD sales....

Hmm, H&C could be the next series to be shown on the 'not so very good' channel named Rapture, thats been showing anime for a few months now. They have been talking about a new show starting soon, & this could be it.

That would be great/fine if Vizeurope markets it in the US as well .. no I didn't "forget" that vizeurope is part of viz-media (you're being silly or insulting with that), but the UK Viz licensing says nada about whether they'll sell it here in the US.
Viz-media is international but just because one of their subsideries in a region licenses something doesn't mean it is licensed for all of viz-media.

Yes. But the probability of H&C getting licensed in the US is higher right now because of this viz property.

They could chuck this series in the AZN channel dorama line up and it'll be a hit.

quoted for Great Truth...

Well... I guess I'll start setting pennies aside for this on the hope that it does mean good things sooner than later.

Hope Viz have picked this up, or any other company. Any josei or shoujo anime license is good news, regardless of who got the rights.
