When it come into IS weapon, most normal weapon actually have little impact on the energy shield, the deletion is minimal at the very best.

Probably due to Professor Shinonono having considered the possibility of an IS hitting a satellite entering earth head on at full speed.

But why does IS weapon is effective against another IS? The reason is: IS energy.

Every objects de-quantized by the IS is actually coated with a layer of IS energy (probably to aid the quantization process).

However, since there is still an upper limit to how much an IS can store which means that every 2nd gen IS have limited ammunition and once they ran out of them, they are forced to rely on short knife (a normal Sword occupied too much space.... around 5 ammo.)

The most effective use of IS solid Weaponry lies in its melee application. Unlike the ranged weapon, melee weapon of IS not only have the energy coating but the coating also is also powered up by the IS by being in close proximity to the IS.

This means that the Melee solid weapon actually deal more damages than a few bullet from its ranged counterpart.

Beam weaponry due to being pure IS energy, it inflict higher damage than its solid counterpart and have the advantage of unlimited ammo. How is it possible? Probably due to IS being prepared for long space voyage, it have infinite energy and theoretically can move in space forever.

However, there is one limiting factor that make that infinite energy wouldn't work in normal IS battle: The energy cost.

There appear to be a limit to how much energy an IS can generate infinitely.... Flight system of IS (anti-gravity, PIC..etc) is in the lower limits, allowing the IS to last forever in non-life-threatening situation.

However, weapon such as the Barrier Void exceeded the amount of energy it can generate infinitely, the IS has to tap on its extra energy source: The Shield energy.
(note: Where does an IS get energy for Absolute barrier when it ran out of shield energy? Answer: The purging of all its Infinite energy pool including the reserve energy that allows the Infinite Energy Generation process...)

Even though Beam weaponry have unlimited ammunition due to being within IS's infinite Energy limit.... however, the energy cost increase over power, range and duration.

Energy Drain due to duration is not really that serious unless..... the said IS is using a weapon barrier void....

Power being the most obvious, is an energy eater. If you want more power, you need more energy and if you exceed the infinite energy, you drain shield energy. Simple as that.

Range is an important factor. The longer the range the more energy cost. Optimal range of Beam weaponry: Mid range.... retaining its range advantage and energy cost at minimum.

Simplified Formula of Beam weaponry's energy cost:
Energy Cost = Power * Range * Duration.

That's definitely not the choice... normally. Though RAEG-kun is another story (it's a radiation bomb that caused everyone to become angry)

What I mean is the original canon source has alien aphrodisiac that made you total nympho, this one just weirdly affect their sexual drive.
