Don't think so, guys. According to Rebecca's story, Kyros was an active fighter until 20 years ago.... which would mean that he was still fighting long after Roger's death (which was 24 years ago, remember). Unless you guys are trying to say that Roger's still alive and well?



Putting that aside for now, something occurred to me: Since Luffy knocked out that Spartan fella last chapter, wouldn't that mean that mean a free entry for one more last-minute participant? It doesn't seem that Spartan will recover from the attack anytime soon, so we could have just about ANY freak taking his spot.....


Oh, and Aohige mentioned something interesting about the Chinjao family over at AP:

Chinjao Family, obviously a Chinese name (comes from Chinjao Rosu, Pepper Pork dish in China, popularized in US as Pepper Steak) comes from the Kano Kuni.
It's spelled much like the Wano Kuni. Ka is flower, and although it a different kanji of flower than used for China, flower read as Ka implies China. (For example, kakyou is the Chinese descent, and the land of China is spelled as Chuuka, literally middle flower). Much like "Wa" is a kanji implying Japan.

Long story short, Kano is probably One Piece China, much like Wano is Japan.

So OP China, huh? That sure sounds like an interesting place for Luffy and co. to visit!

Mera Mera only increase that tension between the two group. Like you say Luffy's main target is BB, but it's not in conflict to have Zoro take on the man who ate Mera Mera.

Either way that is still just a theory. I personally don't mind Luffy himself eats it or Zoro's sword fuses with it.

Maybe, but then based on how the series goes, Shiryu will have to be name vice-captain then, we'll see. As things stand right now SH is short of 2 members to have one-on-ones.

... So its those 4, plus the doxioute family. So we got an 8 man tournament, plus a final match... could be fairly long, depending on how many chapters each fight gets. Though some might get one chapter or even half a chapter; if only to show off how insanely strong they are. If i had to guess i'd say those 4 will each be pitting against the family members, and then those who come out on top will be pitted against eachother, and the finalist will take on Diamante.

I hope so because I don't want this part to drag out considering I'm still much more interested on the weapon factory plotline.

But the inclusion of Burgess really puts wrinkle to this.

Though since I mention that SH is 2 men short, I guess Oda can always pull that Burgess got taken out by Luffy then was captured by Furitora.

So this way there tension still builds up and with extra new member it evens the number.

BTW, to be on the new nakama bandwagon. I kind of want Cavendish to join. I dying to see the possibility of Sanji and Cavendish interaction...

The Funk Brothers (the name, not exactly the look) reminds me of the wrestlers Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk, who are real life brothers and also known as Funk Brothers. They both also wrestled in All Japan Pro Wrestling and were both fairly popular in Japan and were multiple time champions.

That was an awesome chapter. A lot of new characters and Black Beards Jesus Burgess. Also Bellamy is in the episode. This should arch just got more interesting.

Pretty good chapter, a lot of these new characters seem fun and intresting, can't wait to see them in action. I have a feeling Rebeeca will stay with Luffy till the Dof arc is over, shes after him too right? That'd be pretty cool if so.

Few shockers for me, Bellamy being still around and apart of the story, I hope Luffy knocks him out right away and doesn't even remember his name :P

Luffy is looked awesome in his armor, he looked like he was having such a blast with it, Oda went and ruined his funXD

One of BlackBeard's crew members being here isn't all that shocking to me, I had a feeling some thing like this would happen, yet I'm happy. Will they really fight? Guess will see. If they do fight it will likely be in the finales, I'd love it if the fight was like Luffy V.S Lucci.

Over all, fun chapter and I'm really liking this arc.

Not just the Funk brothers, Abdullah & Jeet are directly taken from Abdullah the Butcher and Tiger Jeet Singh.
Abdullah has the same unique forhead scar the real-life wrestler has, and real life Singh is also a turban-wearing, bearded wrestler who played a bloodthirsty crazy heel, just as the OP version implies.

True, but then it's hard to see the purpose for Burgess been here if he is just going to lose and escape.

It's one thing if this tournament is a standalone tournament with no apparent bosses, but this thing is organized by Dofla and we know that at least Diamante should be here to serve as the mid-boss of sort.

Right now I'm still thinking that either Burgess lose and got captured by Fujitora or that somehow Burgess ends up with the fruit as escapes.

Besides, I think it's a safe bid that Fujitora will end up capturing someone major, or else it'll be tough to report back to Aoikiji.

I just cant see Luffy beating Burgess right now.
He is more of a person that should rival Franky. And since we know so little about BB crew so far (BB's godlike stamina, Lafitte's wings and others) their freaking first mate is just a bit too much for Luffy to handle right now.
Besides duh, between 2 years every crew member should've improved greatly since they managed to achieve Yonkou status with both Akainu and Shanks hunting them. And since BB especially send Burgess alone to a dangerous combat tournament, their yonkou reputation is definitely not because of simply Blackbeard being the strongest man alive with quake devil fruit's threat.

But it will be interesting if Luffy and Burgess can somehow cooperate to defeat a stronger enemy.
In the end, I'd say there is %70 chance for Burgess to get the devil fruit.

I'm gonna make my bet. Burges is here to show power difference and is going to beat up our Franky however Burges won't be in finals since some even more unexpected and expected is going to wipe the floor with him to once again demonstrate power before facing our precious Lucy.

I doubt the fruit is not going to end up for anyone by winning this, so tournament is probably going to end up with chaos of some sort... well more chaotic chaos than the usual always present OP chaos I mean

Also I really doubt she will join the crew, I could see her getting the mera mera fruit from Luffy after all is set and done but not actually joining, she's more like Vivi and Shirahoshi providing personal backstory for the current arc (where as Kinemon and Momonosuke are probably around for a Wano kuni/Kaido setup).

That's what I was thinking - if she's weaker than Spartan, no way she'll get past the first fight. Maybe she participates but fails every time (kind of like the warriors in Skypiea), but wants to kill Doflamingo for some reason and believes the Mera Mera fruit will help.

Definitely need more female members, let's see males; Monster Trio, Usopp, Chopper, Franky Brooke.

If they can have a diverse set of characters there, don't see why they can't at least have half many females.
