Looking for a good romantic anime

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've seen Inuyasha, Ichigo 100%, Maburaho, Kanon 2006, Konomini. More specifically, I'd like to see an anime where the protagonist actually gets somewhere with his/her love interest because in most of the ones I've see before, he/she doesn't get very far with their love interest. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

A pure romantic anime or with some little action and so on?

5 Centimeters per Second, Air, Air Movie, Aishiteruze Baby, Bokura ga Ita, Chobits, Elf Ban Kakyuusei, Fate/stay night, Girls Bravo, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Shuffle!, Suzuka, Yume Tsukai, W ~ Wish

If you want a really pure romance/drama check the bolds. This is all I've seen so far

By the way, shouldn't this be in the Suggestions anime section?

Maison Ikkoku is probably the best romance anime available, as long as you're willing to watch all 96 episodes. A lot of it is filler, and it may seem like they're not getting anywhere, but the show does have a satisfying and conclusive ending. It's also from Rumiko Takahashi, the author who also did Inu Yasha, so the sense of humor should appeal to you as well.

From the current shows, you might want to check out Lovely Complex. It's not done airing, so I don't know where they're taking things yet, but it's an interesting ride with some fun characters.

I second Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and Bokura ga Ita, and why isn't 5 Centimeters per Second bolded? I didn't notice any action or comedy in it...unless I am wrong. That's one of the most romance/drama anime ever.

Two other good romance/drama only anime is Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora and Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo. Kanon (2006) and Koi Kaze is good too, although Kanon has some light fantasy and Koi Kaze has elements of incest. For romance/drama mixed with something else, you can try The Place Promised in Our Early Days, Eureka Seven, Midori Days, Onegai Teacher, Onegai Twins, SaiKano, School Rumble, sola, Welcome to the NHK!, Nodame Cantabile, and lots more I forgot to list, lol.

There is also
Ai Yori Aoshi - sweet romance between a pair childhood lovers
Lamune - like above
Suzuka - a bit more sports-themed

I second Lamune - slow paced pure romance series about two childhood friends in a seaside town. One of the most heart-warming things you will ever see.
Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora - romance/drama in a hospital setting. Well worth the watch.
Sola - romance/drama/fantasy. An interesting series with its fair share of unexpected twists.
Kanon - romance/drama with a bit of fantasy. A must-see in my opinion.

Gift ~Eternal Rainbow~ - romance/drama with a wee bit of fantasy.
Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu - romance/drama/SciFi. Only 6 episodes, but it is very good. Imo one of the best deals you can get by watching 6 episodes of something.

Lol i wouldn't count "basilisk" as being romantically themed, although you do get a bit of the romeo @ juliet vibe from gennosuke and oboro. once you get passed that and take a step back, you realize you're watching two ninja clans annhilating each other in cold blood- which kinda ruins the intimate atmosphere they try so hard to cultivate =p
