I guess I should leave my own prediction of the plot of the K-ON! movie plot...
As a wild guess, it would be more of a compilation of the chapters that weren't animated in the regular TV seasons, in the form of various flashbacks- the group gather and reminisce on the days they spent together.
Having a brief look again at season 1, there was one sticking point for me: where the heck did Jun come from? (when she was first introduced, we really only knew her first name, and we don't know if she went to the same junior high school, unless that is a safe assumption based on the manga)
Since she was a minor character back then, I guess the producers felt that leaving out "how she became good friends with Ui and Azusa" would not have any impact on the general plot.
Of course, we also haven't seen many of the other chapters as well, but I'll leave it at that for now...
(KyoAni did say the plot was going to be original and set during the group's high school years, so I still have doubts whether this idea is feasible, perhaps if the non-animated chapters are merged into a single plot?)

K-ON! movie eh? err.... its.... great? I guess? well?

Honestly, I feel rather pessimistic about the movie when I watched the latest OVA. And seeing how good season 2 was, I can't help but feel more and more pessimistic. Lets just hope that the movie won't be turned up like what I've thought.

Movie based on the continuation of Ep27 would be logical since that really came out of left field.
Probably it will be a powered up version of summer vacation at Mugi's beach house.

Mugi frantically telephoning dad that she is going commercial and do not need the "Family Jet (A-380)" after seeing the plane with a company logo on the tail as they wait at the airport.

Well... colour me surprised! Do they have plans on releasing this film outside of Japan (assuming a later date)?
(Still, kinda worried it might be fake, but the translation between the original and this one is spot on...)

Considering the source, there's no way this is fake.

I was seriously worried that I would have to wait until October 2012 to watch the movie in anything other than a camrip, but it seems I might be able to watch in a cinema ^^ so happy. So, so happy. I haven't seen much anime movies in Australian cinemas though...

after reading the manga, now I have a high expectation of the movie
hopefully they will show the future member of K-ON and maybe a show from the old K-ON club in Budoukan

I wouldn't get my hopes up for either of those things to happen in the movie.

This.

The movie will most likely be the trip we seem talk about in episode 27. So no new members and no Budokan performance. Heck, we should be lucky if in the stretch of the whole movie, we get one actual performance.

Indeed. It seems that KyoAni would like us all to forget that they ever mentioned Budokan. You never hear it mentioned once in Season Two, and it seems clear that the original comic will never include it anywhere in the canon.

So, I'd not expect Budokan to be mentioned ever again in the anime.

And, yeah, this is K-On!, the music has always been (at most) #3 in terms of the show's priorities (after the girls sitting around drinking tea and eating sweets, and the girls acting cute and living the idyllic high school life.) So it follows that the movie will probably have one actual performance in it.

They actually mention Budokan a couple of times in the early episodes, but it's forgotten quickly after that. The original manga never said anything about Budokan in the first place.

As long as they don't try to condense the two seasons into a movie, we should be good.

.
I still remember that Ritsu mentioned Budoukan in their field trip to Kyoto. And not to mention that they also wanted to be Natsu fest performer next year. Well, dream high, girls. As long as you have a spirit to dream it.
