qwertyuiopz, try to understand the game reading this rules and playing.
And you should consider joining this group: I want to play Koi-Koi since I watched Summer Wars If you have some questions, just ask Edit: Indeed, it is very much similar to Digimon: The Movie. The only differences are family, Digimon and Koi-Koi xD |

NYC premiere
Just got back from the premiere! The movie was great.
Director Mamoru Hosada was there for Q&A after the movie. Some interesting highlights: Little kid: I think that there is not enough juice in some of the scenes. Audience: [...] Hosada: I will work harder to satisfy you next time! Audience: Why is it called "Love Machine"? Hosada: A.I. means love in Japanese (ai), that's how I came up with the name. Girl: Who is your favorite character? Hosada: I would say the 89 year old granny Sakae. Girl: [Walks away with a wtf look on her face] Hosada: ... Should I have said King Kazuma? Little kid: Why did Kenji nosebleed so much? Audience: [burst into laughter] Hosada: Well... Hmm... He worked very hard I guess? He also mentioned that part of the story was based on how he met his wife (though she didn't have such a huge house). He was nice enough to give me an autograph and drew a Natsuki on the program! |

Agreed, the summer wars premiere was great! Glad to see someone making anime films that are accessible to non-otaku.
More from the Q&A: - the 'whiteness' of OZ was inspired by the white background of the google homepage. - there are ~300 unique avatars in the movie, created by 3 designers (100 each) - the movie took 3 years to create |

Just finished this movie, what a masterpiece.
I thought Miyazaki was as good as it could get for anime, but then I saw The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and now, from the same director, Summer Wars. I came in with such high expectations for this movie, and it still blew them away. I laughed, I cried. People say this and I don't believe them, but I literally did. The setting was beautiful: rolling grasslands in a mountainous countryside, cumulus clouds expanding gracefully in the big blue sky, bugs chirping softly at night. You can almost feel the warmth of being there, you want to be there. Then you have all this contrasted with the fantastical internet world of Oz, with all its cute avatars. All the characters felt like they had a purpose, and you felt for them yourself. You wanted to be part of the family. The plot never patronized its viewer, yet could be understood even by the technically illiterate. The level of detail in the animation is just as good or better than it was in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and it's this close attention to detail that only further immerses you in the movie. There's so much more to say, but why bother, just watch the movie and be amazed yourself! |

Wow, everything was done so well I don't even know where to start so I'll just say that the animation in Oz was amazing along with everything else.
I remember seeing this anime rack up awards so I knew I had to watch it but I'm always scared that my expectations are too high when I watch something just because other people say it's good. However, this move didn't disappoint, just a great sense of satisfaction of finishing it.

Lol... How would you feel if you have read the 5 available chapters from the manga before even knowing that there is a movie?
I was in a dilema where I wonder where does the movie end and what are the differences between it and the manga. I finally resolve myself to open my bittorent and start the 2.5Go download. In a way, I hope the story is as good as in the manga... but in the other way, I hope it's not as the manga so that I still can be surprised by it, once I watch this movie. |

But now that I watched it, I must tell that to those who're in the same position as me. WATCH IT! There are quite a lot of similarities, but the way it's shown is way different from the manga and makes it looks like unique. It's really one of those anime/movie which show another side from the book's form of it. (even if the movie made it out first.) I did cried a bit as some part, without realising it. It's quite moving emotionnaly, in some parts. Spoiler for One part that made me cried:

I just watched it as well. It was really, really good.
I give it a 9.5/10. It lost .5 because the end, inside of Oz, was a little over the top, what with her transforming and crying and all. I didn't really like how they interacted with Oz itself, with only a keyboard and all. But it was still really good. Reminded me of the Digimon movie, Digimon Adventure - Bokura no War Game. I watched it in 1080p with TrueHD5.1 on my HDTV with surround sound...it was so awesome. I'd buy the BD if it is ever released by me.
